u said mobil is a private company that why the should maximise profit and not build refinery ..so I ask if dangote is not also a private company and want to maximise profit by the oil back ward integration proposal .....
Are u for real? Were did I say that Dangotes refinery is a bad thing? I am talking about the link which u obviously did not read. D meat of d post was that some individuals are trying very hard to monopolize our economy.

Dangote is a govt entity abi ? That want to minimise return ...cos it African and must be dumb
I don't understand this ur post. Actually, it doesn't make any sense.

It is shameful we still believe Americans have the best interest of Nigerians at heart. Western countries are already in panick mood because we might no longer buy their refined oil once Dangote refinery starts operations.
Again, these are the rants of a man that reads only the headings and headlines. It's a very dangerous practice my man.

USA has nothing to lose or even gain if you build refineries.

America want all good things to happen to them but don't want for other....mobil that have been in oil and gas busines in Nigeria for 50 years where is there refinery ....they prefer the crude swap to continue endlessly...
Sometimes your talk dey sound somehow for ear.

Mobil is a business entity separate from the country USA, their priority is to maximize returns, not build refinery for you.

ahiboilandgas:
Americans are a bunch of hypocrites....what development contribution have they brought to Nigeria compared to the Chinese that have built trains and airport terminal in Nigeria ...instead give loan via imf with crippling conditions of civil servant sack, electricity hike via markets rate ,petrol hike , high taxes to pay back their wicked loan paid into federation accounts when they know that the monies will be looted and Mis managed ..... [s]Americans govt wants us to be importing cement and petrol ..Dangote refinery is a treat to thier refineries and will capture the west african markets ...from their hawkish traders like vitol and transfuga whom are the biggest oil traders and will never want the arrangement changed[/s]
Donbrig:
God punish Satan, don't mind Americans, they should allow us build our economy the way we want it, they have never been helpful in anyway to Africans if they don't have anything to gain.
Did you two read the link? The link is talking about our economy beign monopolized by a few individuals.

This point here:

"The group proposed that only companies with licences to refine crude oil should import fuel whenever demand surpass available fuel or when a refinery is undergoing maintenance."

And this one:

"Dangote also recommended that the volume of fuel imported should be distributed according to what each refinery produces."

Do such proposals sound fair to you? By d way, the bulk of our imported fuel doesn't even ship from the USA.

Please redo the projections with these assumptions.

1. Most people retire around 60 to 65 and are assumed to live for another 25 years. So assume that the money is expected to last for 25 years. So at retirement, he starts with 4m for the year. This should be sufficient for a healthy couple na.

2. From year two, assume that 4m annual cash withdrawal will be increasing with inflation. So for example, year two withdrawal will be 4m * 1.08 and so on. This assumes your 8% inflation is correct.

3. The man no get any serious health issues and no dependents.

4. The man has his own house.

If the balance after withdrawal of annual spending money is being compounded and growing at 10% minimum rate of return, the money suppose last the man until he die na.

If by mistake he and wife lives longer than 25 years, then they are on their own o grin. Or maybe the kids will step in to assist wink

But wait o, wetin old man and him wife wey no get any other responsibilities apart from feeding go need all that money for? undecided
I actually used 8.5% in my computation, if u want to reproduce it sha.

At 4m in d first year, 8.5%(for consistancy) inflation and 100m starting seed with compounding 10% interest. The couple will get broke 34 years after.

For 25 years with same factors as above, the couple would need to set aside 78m. Like u said after d 25 years they are on their own.

Regarding what dey need d money for, u know that some people have expensive hobbies right? Also, some people may like to use this time of their lives traveling around the world (At 60 some people are still pretty good physically).

Know that oyigbo mans life style and ours will start converging as time goes on. Senior citizens will not just simply eat and wither away like they used to.

Nigeria may start having old peoples homes and it will not come cheap. I dont think our government will subsidize such houses like it is done in oyigbo countries.

Some interesting observations about wealth and personal finance.

1. Based on my calculations it appears inflation is not 2 digits as portrayed in d media, it is closer to 8%. Prices of goods and services appear to have been doubling every 10years on average (this view is empirical and based on my limited observations only).

2. To maintain an equivalent 6mil a year life style ten years from now will require about 12mil(doubling effect caused by inflation) cos of point 1 above. Well some services like rent have not been moving at that pace though, thank God. grin

3. If u amassed 100m Naira in ur earlier years and decide to retire confidently with a 10% return annually from ur investments. (Assuming u can find a passive investment that maintains 10% return on average for d next couple of decades)

4. U will go broke 20 years after, that is if u maintain an equivalent life style of 6m(500k a month) today with no new sources of cash inflows.

5. I made a small excel calculation which I attached below. U can see that initially ur interest can catter for ur lifestyle with decent change and overall balance stays above d original 100m. But, down the line u start spending more money to maintain equivalent level of living and ur capital start eroding.

6. I believe that is d reason why some high earning people(mostly employees and salary earners) end up poorer a couple of years after retirement.

7. This is scary sha.

Literature › People Of The Night by ositadima1(op): 7:13pm On Mar 03, 2021
The night is more beautiful, you live better.
I do not yawn until 5 o'clock.

And the city catches its breath and seems to be asleep, the darkness transforms it and changes its shape, and everything is quieter, everything is closer. There is no traffic and there is no jams, at least not the bad one, the one that stresses.

People of the night always the same.
We all know each other as in a village, always the same faces month after month.
The day changes laws and governments, and the summers pass and the winters pass. People of the night always survive, hidden in the shadows.

People of the night do odd jobs. Some are born today and end tomorrow. Bartenders, drug dealers, whores and newsagents. Cops, disguised people looking for trouble, club owners, strippers, truckers, night watchers, thieves and journalists. Bakers and confectioners, photo models.

At night the girls all look beautiful, and sometimes you get one, at the disco. You see her again in the morning and she looks like a witch to you. The night plays its game to make everything seem a little bit nicer.

Talking in a car in front of a door at half past four. Have breakfast with hot croissants and latte. When the sun comes up I say goodnight.

I read the nairaland before others, preview of all the good and bad facts.

Words flow slower at night, but it is much easier to talk to people, learn there stories, each original, knowing that nobody in the world is normal. Everyone will have something they can teach you, very different people of every color.

I like the night, I see many sunrises and very few mornings. The night, she adopted me and gave me a job.

I like it a lot, in fact I love it. My name is Osita I do the deejay. I never go to sleep before six AM.

Your straw man fallacy doesn't help any one. Why don't you refute his arguement with a superior counter argument instead of spewing bullocks. grin

Some googling and this:

Upon the death of a person, he ceases to have a legal personality; this means that the dead person cannot sue and cannot be sued; neither can a case be filed in court on his behalf in a representative capacity. However, upon the death of a person, he is deemed to have died leaving behind what is known as an Estate.

An Estate has been defined to mean “the property that one leaves after death; the collective assets and liabilities of a dead person”. The estate of a deceased person is therefore made up of not just what he owns at his death, but what he owes others.

It should be noted that the beneficiaries of the estate of a deceased Debtor are not personally liable or responsible to settle a deceased Debtor’s personal debts.

LAS VEGAS -- A British man who sold all his possessions, including his clothes, stood in a rented tuxedo Sunday surrounded by family and friends and bet everything on a single spin of the roulette wheel.

He won't go home empty handed.

Ashley Revell, a 32-year-old Londoner, sold all his possessions in March, took $135,300 to the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, did some low-stakes gambling and then placed everything he had left on "red."

The wheel was spun, a crowd of supporters including his Mum and Dad from London went wild, the ball bobbled over the slots and landed on Red 7 -- and Revell walked away with $270,600.

Like I said before, u need a solid escrow service for you to do P2P, else you will get scammed.

That u have used P2P countless times is not the koko here, let me tell you a short story.

We had a bulb holder that had no bulb in it, mind you I was a pre-teen back then, I will often climb a chair and stick my fingers in the holder after a power cut(Nepa was epileptic), I did that countless times, I could have electrocuted my self if Nepa restored sodenly and that would have been d end...

Dear ositadima1,

Kindly be informed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed all banks to close accounts of persons and/or entities transacting in or operating crypto currency exchanges with immediate effect. This follows an earlier circular issued by the CBN in January 12, 2017 which cautioned the public and financial/non-financial institutions on risks associated with transacting in crypto currencies.

In line with this directive, any FCMB account identified as transacting in or operating crypto currency exchanges will be closed accordingly.

For more information, please send an email to customerservice@fcmb.com.

Thank you for choosing FCMB.

No disrespect to Hbo and it's vampire series called true blood but CW's the originals is greater than True blood anyway and anytime.

The originals and the michelson's still have cult followers on instagram and facebook even till this day.

So what are we even saying here?
True Blood was actually a nice show, Vampire Bill and Sookie Stakehouse were great characters. I will definitely rewatch.

The Originals was also good, the two show depicted vampire lore in slightly different ways.

Oh, some honourable mentions:

"Blade" trilogy set of movies

"Underworld" set of movies

"The vampire chronicles" this one is a book series by Anne Rice. It follows the life of d vampire Lestat, Nikolas Klaus dey learn work were dis one dey.

"Van Helsing"

"Buffy the Vampire slayer", I haven't seen this one.

"Dracula Untold"

"Bram Stoker's Dracula", I read the novel, d movie was shit.

"V Wars", this one was shit from the get go. Damon Salvatore was in it too, not as Damon ofcourse.
