In fact, some people work in large cities and leave very far thanks to good transportation systems. Most Americans spend lots of money on frivolities, if u know what u want and maintain ur lane u can save a lot. I am talking from experience. U don't need to agree with me though, good night. |

ahiboilandgas: subtract income tax ,and rent etc then see if you can save 500 dollar per month then divide by 200,000 dollar to see many year it will take I don't want to argue toomuch. Entry level engineering graduate salary = 70k usd Maximum taxation = 37% As a Naija man that has a vision I can spend only on food + rent + internet= 1k per month After tax and expenses = 70k * (1 - 0.37) - (1000 *12) = 32k Required years= 200k/32k =6 years. Now, I made a lot of assumptions. 1. Tax is not computed directly like that, they split ur earning into portions and apply various percentages. Meaning it is always less than 37% 2. I assumed a constant salary over the 6 years. 3. I assumed that I dont invest my savings over the years. So, in less than 6 years I should have my 200k usd. If u earn less u are even taxed less money. With a spouse, it even takes less time to achieve. |

In short, with a university degree u earn 45k usd minimum per year entry level. U can google it ur self. |

If u are abroad 100 mill is not such a large sum. 100 mil is about 200k dollars. My current profession that I have been at for quite a while in Nija pays 80k usd a year for entry level in the USA. If I was in the USA I did save up 200k usd in less than 3 years. But, we can't all leave the country, should we? In Nigeria I earn peanuts in comparison for the exact same job, it doesn't make the other guy in the diaspora smarter. We are just victims of circumstances. |

Donbrig: Wahala be like bicycle. Too many problems in Nigeria. You have made valid points. Our youths are systematically part of our problems in Nigeria, they want to take over, but don't have any agenda or road map to achieve that.
It is heart-wrenching that Nigerians are even considering crooks like Tinubu, Atiku and the rest to be our next president, same people who landed us in this misery we found ourselves today.
I will prefer Osinbajo to many of these political warlords like Tinubu, though Osinbajo had been turned into a vegetable and rendered useless.
Nigerians who have what it takes to bring us out of this agony don't have the resources or finance or connections to become president.
Come to think of it, don't you think we have the kind of leaders we truly deserve as a nation?
Where and how do you expect us to find honest leaders with integrity and vision in a dishonest country with thieves and manipulators everywhere?
It won't be easy to get things better in Nigeria anytime soon, because our next president might likely be one of those criminals who helped in destroying our system in the first place, because they have all it takes to win every election however they want it. After the youths started destroying their collective properties and looting one another during the End SARS standdown/protest, that was when I knew the Nigerian youth needed Jesus. Even after SARS was desolved, they kept going. When asked you did here how they were fighting for all the injustices in Nigeria. Wasn't very clever though, every riot has it's own agenda, that one was end SARS. If you wanted to fight for some other reasons like corruption in high places the reasonable thing to do was to stop and resume a fresh set of protest with a clear agenda and not mix things. Now, they have blown their credibility, it will be some time before they are taken seriously again. |

maishai: So also Africa, If u go round streets this days, most shops are installing one form of solar or the other, No viable small scale electric shops use Nepa or "I pass my neigbour Generator" again............
The death of internal combustion Cars in Europe and America spells doom for such devices in Africa....... I once heard Students of a nearby polytechnic discussing the advantage of that #1000 solar charger to "I pass my neugbour" Generator....
Secondly, the people solving this fundamental problems are not Africans, I dont see Africans today using the morse code, telephone or even Fax, Africa moved with the world to the use of internet communications, one would have expected Africa to be using this outdated technologies Trust me, I have done some research on utilizing solar panels to charge PEVs (Plug-in electric vehicles) and it is not viable on a commercial scale. Except there is a drastic improvement in the efficiency of solar panels. Let me do a little math here: 2020 Tesla Model 3 Long Range only requires 26 kWh of energy per 100 miles. A standard solar panel generates 300W per hour. You need 26000 / 300 = 86 pannels to fully charge one vehicle in 1 hour. You need 26000 / (300 × 2) = 43 pannels to fully charge one vehicle in 2 hour. You need 26000 / (300 x 5) = 17 pannels to fully charge one vehicle in 5 hour. U get my drift? Note that I am not accounting for losses during the energy transfer. On your second point, like u said, people solving these problem don't take Africa into account - they dont take our abysmal electricity situation into account. Even at that, they are not going to run this vehicles on solar, they are planning to install charging stations for these cars supplied from a grid. Do we have such infrastructure in Nigeria, most importantly, are we going to have them in the near future? |

Dangote knows he faces an existential threat from renewable energy, while we Nigerians wallow in our pitiable state of fuel price increase......
The refinery targets mostly pms and diesel, the current opium of the Nigerian and west African markets Their will be a diminished demand for petroleum products in d western countries, but in Africa not so much, I still see a lot of 90's cars on the streets. Most African countries cant generate enough electricity to run their basic needs talkless of using it to run vehicles. 50 years from now, the internal combustion engine will still be prevalen in most parts of Africa. |

What have America done for this country. If they had allowed arms to goodluck the insecurity in this country won't have reached this level. Instead they gave us vegetable of a president. If you don't have money to build refinery go and farm.I won't be surprised if you say, they should allow the importation of bottled water so the Coca-Cola Company will not have Monopoly in bottle water business. How can you be talking about Nigeria importing finished goods from a raw material God has given us.Is it not stupidity that we import finished goods of Cocoa, textile, rubber. Was the country not better the years we whr not importing this things. My dear stop believing thr is something special about America..They are the problem of Africa. If dangota want let him monopolize the petrol business ,no wahala as long as he is refining in Nigeria. You can bring your own investment and come and monopolize a sector even if is Palm oil so that we can stop importing from Malaysia . Another good oil business is coconut oil.Witchcraft is not only when you fly at night, lol My brother, I have already said everything that needs to be said on this matter. NL1960: I follow your argument quite alright and i understand it. I do not agree with you that people should be allowed an open field to import. We need to develop the country and create employment for our teeming youthful population. I have kids growing up here. Where you want them to work?. As US and Canada cannot contain all our teeming youths, we need to keep the majority of them here and get them engaged. Giving our scarce dollars to people just to import fuel thereby creating employment in other countries does not cut it for me. it is even a shame that we sell crude oil and then import fuel. It is like a cassava farmer selling cassava and perpetually buying garri with the proceeds from those he sold the cassava to. Where i come from, such a farmer will be the butt of jokes in any gathering.
You want to import fuel, then build a refinery even if na 1,000 barrels.
I support Dangote proposal 100%.
Btw, you saw what happened in US during the pandemic where people were queueing and fighting over common tissue paper. That is a result of allowing everybody and everything to be imported. at d bolded, are u messing with me? Let me show u that u chose not to get my argument: 1. Dangote has built a large refinery, very good. 2. Dangote still wants to be d sole importer of extra refined petroleum products, not good. I don't know how to break it down further. |

Regarding Tbills, what causes the fluctuations in interest rates? Sometimes it goes up to 18% and now 5%. Is it arbitrarily set by the government?
Alternatively, does it mean that the economy is now projected to be less risky or reduced inflation and so d government is only willing to pay us less for freezing our moneys ?
Or could it be an avenue to mop excess funds by d government, in this case, does it mean their are less funds in circulation? |

Adenuga did not sit down and be complaining. He got a license. Came up with Glo and started with per second billing which forced MTN to do per second billing.
The Cable TV company that came to compete with DSTV got EPL rights but instead of strategizing on long term, the man thought he had arrived and started living lavishly and the company crashed.
