Pardon my ignorance, but I don't really get what d fuzz is about. The major banking stocks have delivered similar growth patterns historically. If you overlay their charts you did see that they follow similar trajectories.

My point is, I would have made about same return whether I choose zenith, gtb, access or UBA. The only problem here is proper entry and exit point. I chose Zenith because of its higher dividend, GTB also good. Anyway, I be newbie sha.
So, I overlay-ed the top banks to see whether it made real sense ( Vs imaginary sense grin ) fussing over which one to pick.

Here is d legend:
Blue ==> UBA
Black ==> GTB
Violet ==> Zenith
Green ==> Access
Yellow ==> FBNH

Case study
If I bought all these bank stocks on 11-1-2016 at bottom, and sold on 23-1-2018 at the peak, my profits would stand as follows:

Blue ==> UBA==>386%
Black ==> GTB==>316%
Violet ==> Zenith==>264%
Green ==> Access==>317%
Yellow ==> FBNH==>326%

It appears they follow similar patterns, though Zenith seems to tag along. It is possible that Zenith's superior dividend payout was priced in?

Note: Also, the chart may look dis-proportioned but u need to realize that 2 * 2 = 4(case 1) while 12 * 2 = 24(case 2). In the first case u need to move a little to double ur position as opposed to the second case where u have to move longer distance to obtain same double.

You only said this because you used your phone to look at Instagram and see white people licking ice-cream in their foreign countries.
If you didn't see such images, you will continue to enjoy Africa like that and manage with what you have.
It is step by step that counties develop
But what is most important, is to first start with yourself. Do something good everyday.
You funny die, which one be licking icecream.

Not necessarily the case, in a depressed economy the purchasing power of consumers also decline. If someone could do serve them round with 10 bottles of Heineken in the past he may not be able to afford more than 2 bottles now due to job loss or what have you.

Secondly most of the people who try to drink away their sorrow may resort to all those cheap and herbal alcohol because of their affordability.

I think Guinness will be most affected under the current economic climate because they don't sell the common man drink like Nigerian Breweries does.
Guiness stout is my sister's favourite drink, I also know a couple of people who only drink stout and Guiness in particular. Guiness will pull through, na since 1759 o, no be today matters o.

If someone is used to using $10 to chase $100 profits, explaining to him how stocks with 10% profits is good might be difficult.
Bro, that is not how leverage works. Mostly, leverage is used to magnify the tiny moves in the market (e.g. 80 pip profit may just be 0.0080 profit per dollar but leverage will boost it to something a little worth while). It's returns are not so different from d stock market.

Don't you know the difference between interim and final dividend yields?
Lol, Oga o. It's kind of funny when people quote returns in hundreds of millions or even billions without mentioning the sort of capital needed to get those. I hope you know that to return 300 millions at 40% ROI requires substantial amounts of bread talk less of 1.7% . Just saying bro.

U see where ACCESS is? wink cheesy grin

It's not too good that even FBNH(a bank which was just coming off from a very troubled state under previous management) is even ahead of UBA.
Maybe that of STANBIC is even more understandable given the huge benefits accrued from their cash cow(asset management arm in view) but not FBNH naw !!

For the record, I also hold some UBA, but the TRUTH must be told.

It is well.

I concur @IYGEAL .
It's a game of numbers.
** In the recently announced Zenith interim dividends of 30kobo in Q2 2020, Jim Ovia will be pocketing N1.52B.
** Herbert Wigwe of Access: will pocket N379M with 25kobo interim dividend declared by Access.
** Tony Elumelu of UBA: will pocket N391M with 17kobo interim dividend declared by UBA.
.......and so on..........

Moral of the lesson: There's possibility of those kobo kobos to translate to millions. grin
If u be average investor, u go old or even die put while wating for ur investment to be large enough to yield such millions at 1.7% return.

You raised an interesting point here, I checked the bank lending rates in some other countries and found them to be much lower, places like us it's bellow 4%. If the exchange rate becomes stable, people abroad with access to these loans can arbitrage. Their are a lot of investments that give 10% and above in Nija. The NSE for one.

I lost my dad a few years ago. It's been very difficult but we having been pushing through. I am in my early 20's with 5 sibling.

Dad left some properties for us. I happened to be the first female child.

Property 1
Is almost completed to decking level no windows and doors. It has not been plastered or floored, JUST sand filled. We currently occupy group flat in this property.

Property 2
Is an uncompleted building with no roof.

I have my mum with underlying illness and 5 siblings to cater for.

I currently work but the money is not enough to to even complete the current abode or property 2.

Please, What do I do?
You could find another job, if u know how to drive and can raise some cash u could buy a bus or a car. Drive it ur self for now. I don't know what job you currently hold but it easily beats those 60, 70k a month jobs.

Donbrig:
Nothing is impossible to change in Nigeria, our problem is lack of discipline and political will to get things done. Nigeria is a country where you can break every rule without any consequence. If Nigerians decide to speak with one voice and make sure everybody pays severely for every rule they break, things will start to work out positively.

Nigeria has one of the best rules or constitutions in the world, but having the right minded leaders to implement these rules effectively is our biggest problem as a nation.
The problem of Nigeria is one of quantity vs quality. Somany people and most of them are mediocre at best. There is hardly any pride in work, no dedication. Everyone is after quick cash. 90% don't think, they just live. No originality, everyone copying each others nonsense. I don't see Nigeria beign better in a hundred years time.

If you are one of the few smart ones, the best you can do is to make ur self comfortable and forget about patriotism, forget about Nigeria, it is a lost cause.

As I see it now, I don't blame the ones in d public offices squandering our so called national cake, I did do the same, period. Whatever Nigerians are facing right now is what they deserve.

My 5 cents sha. angry

Hello great people, I will be joining you soon. I won follow una chop this oyibo money. I have been peeping in every few years as far back as season 4 or 5. I noticed some of those old names have stopped posting.

Ok, I am looking at this simple strategy for a start: Risk 1%(stop loss) of my balance and targeting 2 x Risk (2%) for every trade (may rope in more but that would strictly be on trailing stop) . 3 trades a day, hoping to keep my success rate at 40% . If my calculation is right I am looking at returning 15% of my bank roll every month. Someone was telling me that I cant do it. Now, I am really fired up.

I flunked through school, my secondary education was a mess, I used to score F's like tomorrow no dey. Always averaging between 40 and 50% . I giraffed and cheated alot. But I was good at math, i learnt math in class, teaching it to classmates some of which averaged 70% and above. In my JSS1 I could remember drawing letters instead of copying from d blackboard, I didn't understand the words formation. To be honest most of my grades in the WAEC (2000) exams were a product of copying from my neighbors. I was also among the pioneers of NECO, anybody that took the exam then knows how freely available the expos were.

The first time I did some work was for my jamb prep. I had to study the whole math, physics and chemistry syllabus with no much prior knowledge. It took me 3 attempts to get in my course of choice (the second attempt was fruitful but I messed up the school choices and so had to re-write). In the uni I tried in the first and second year, then in the rest I went back to my ways, lol, ended with a 2.2. Maybe it would have been 3rd if not for those first 2 years.

I was lucky, after NYSC I got an average job in one of those oil servs, courtesy of my uncle. Now, I am doing same thing, my peers have all left to bigger jobs making lots of $$$ and I am still at my drawing desk, 10 years later. I think I am a mess.

Sometimes, I blame Dad for truncating my life. I did my nursery and elementary school in Rome, Italy. I can remember back then I was among the best in my class, my teachers reports were favourable. In my class I was never discriminated against I felt I was like them, used to have a best friend, Fernando Carissimi. It was not to last, my Dad wanted to return to his country Nigeria, without any practical plans.

Ever since, I have been sinking. What I would have been if we had staid back or relocated to better countries like usa or uk, some families relocated to usa back then, it was easier. I know I am being irrational. I also derailed a thread too. I am depressed. I lack d will to act. embarassed

It's well.
Dont you know that the pain of losing is psychologically about twice as powerful as the pleasure of gaining. If I do you good one day and do you bad the next day, one year from now you would only remember the bad way I do.

And, to you grumbler, do your DD always, if you did you wouldn't be whining about UACN.

Like they say in roma, Italy; Chi fa da sé fa per tre, which translates to he who does it by himself, does it for three people.
