emmanuelewumi:It can still be redeemed if they improve efficiency drastically and source for funding via equity and not debt. |

sonofElElyon:Earning per Share reads 27.15 kobo Profit for the year = #3,173,254,000 Number of outstanding shares = 11,689,337,942 |
sonofElElyon:I think those lines are OCI, Other Comprehensive Income. Probably a negative change of the fair value of d debt instruments they invested in. As long as they are holding, no problem. Below is a description of OCI: "Other comprehensive income is those revenues, expenses, gains, and losses under both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Financial Reporting Standards that are excluded from net income on the income statement. This means that they are instead listed after net income on the income statement. Revenues, expenses, gains and losses appear in other comprehensive income when they have not yet been realized. Something has been realized when the underlying transaction has been completed, such as when an investment is sold. Thus, if your company has invested in bonds, and the value of those bonds changes, you recognize the difference as a gain or loss in other comprehensive income. Once you sell the bonds, you have then realized the gain or loss associated with the bonds, and can then shift the gain or loss out of other comprehensive income and into a line item higher in the income statement, so that it is a part of net income" Copied from a random Google search... |
Baddestguyp:What interested me more in the show was how the various characters exploited information asymmetry. It make me believe more strongly that information on its own is very powerful. |

emmanuelewumi:2021 ended in a loss due to huge increase (about 6 billions more than d previous year) in cost of sales. If we dig deeper, the increase was from consumables (aircraft spare parts seems to be d major culprit). Doesn't look like a recurring expense to me, maybe I am wrong. That said, trading at 76.7% percent below book value is not sustainable, I see it going no where but up in the long run. |
Is there hope for Caverton passengers? With book value per share of 5.17 and current price of 1.2, someone could attempt to buy all the stock (unlikely but possible) and voluntarily liquidate the company, thereby realizing a 3.97 naira per share profit. The moral of d story is that Cavertons time will come... |
Dum20:Let me put it this way: If 1 USD = 360 NGN yesterday, but today 1 USD = 590 NGN we can say that d value of USD changed from 360 to 590 with respect to Naira. And that is (590-360)/360=63.8% Now, from NGN point of view, if 1NGN = (1/360) USD yesterday but today 1NGN=(1/590) USD we can say that the value of NGN changed from (1/360) to (1/590) with respect to USD. To calculate change as before: ((1/590)-(1/360))/(1/360)=-39% So, I can say that NGN depreciated by 39% with respect to USD. |
cornwall:Letting A be the starting rate and B the final rate. The percentage change of the Quote Currency relative to the Base Currency is Percent Change = ((A − B) / B) × 100 The percentage change of the Base Currency relative to the Quote Currency is Percent Change = ((B − A) / A) × 100 A positive change is appreciation and a negative change is depreciation. Therefore: Relative to USD, NGN Depreciated 38.98%. Relative to NGN, USD Appreciated 63.889%. Dude was correct! |

DrAwo:I don't know much about palm oil etc. But UCAP rise was necessary giving the value it was to give. 2.62 when I first purchased it (my biggest regret was not buying more of it then) and now sharing 1.5 as dividend, over 50% in dividend payout per share. Still maintain tops at dividend(Revenue), I see no flash. |
RabbiDoracle:I understand you're typing quickly so you didn't bring the point to complition. Vitafoam, Ucap preserved their gains so far... |
RabbiDoracle:In d first 2 charts, I noticed that d steep fall was actually presided by a sharp rise, almost like an isosceles triangle. Looks like one of those bubbles that finally got burst. |
DrAwo:You are right, the context in which it used gets me confused at times. If a bunch of investors decide to exit a market for some reasons(maybe out of fear as u pointed out), we can as well say that some other investors got in to take their place with moneys from other sources. But then, I can see as well that many investors, who were previously invested, would now sit on cash and cash has to be spent/utilized one way or another... OK, I get it now. Thanks. |
RabbiDoracle:I am really curious to know what sell-off really means. If fonds are indeed leaving the markets then other funds are entering it in its place, is that not the essence of trading? If for every dollar sold-off their is someone at the other end buying-in can we say that their is now a net increase in funds in circulation? I don't get it. |
Tobex4realTobex234:In 2016, it would have worthed just 10k, then 2 years later, in 2018, it would have worthed 29k. A very clever someone should have bought access in 2016 when it was low and sold 2 years later effectively x.3.ing their money. Simply wailing and folding ones hands in defeat is a sign of weak character, while with some insight a system can be gamed for advantage. Nawao!!! |
[s]What prevents a company from disclosing false or misleading information? Are financial statements totally reliable? If independent auditors earn money for consulting activities from companies what stops them from being manipulated? If the USA, which ranks significantly lower in corruption, has had several cases like Enron, AOL, Tyco, Global Crossing, Halliburton,Xerox, etc, why hasn't Nigeria had such large scale scandals over d years? Could it be tha perpetrators have been running their shows codedly? Do I even exist, or am I a figment of my imagination? [/s]I walk by Faith. Each step by Faith. To live by Faith. I put my trust in You. |
Baddestguyp:I am watching AOT for d first time but because the first season was slow and had prolonged speeches, I almost lost interest until I went on a fact finding mission on the AOT wiki website. I now know the major layout of d story, also have a fair idea how it began, why they are at war and how it will end, its all there in d wiki. It is still a good watch though, infact, knowing d plot made d show more enjoyable. |
There is something about the season 2 Attack on Titan closing song, Shingeki no kyojin, that has stuck in my mind, playing again and again. I have a theory... it sounds like demons trying to sing a happy song and failing at it. Somehow you feel their sorrows. Still luv d song though.

yMcy56:OK, Noted |
Interesting take... *Despite low dividend payout some stocks performed really well *Stanbic and sterling so behind *Ucap, though behind PZ, did well with a 50% return from 2022 opening price. More explicitly if you had bought ucap in d last week December or first week January the accumulated return on your investment would have been around 50%. *GTCO despite higher dividend payout has had not so good performance. *Fidelity with 72% *etc, etc Notes: CP=current price IP=opening price for d year 2022 Yield= dividend divided by IP in % Growth=% change from IP to CP Also, garbage in garbage out applies, d data I used may not be accurate.

Wapgod:OGG writes in jargons obviously directed at professionals/veterans like himself but always manage to end up in emotional exchange with the "perceived" amateurs, why? I think he should make up his mind on who belongs to his audience. |
