I too have been in the act masturbation & shameful about it. it was a struggle, I resisted many times & fell to it many times. as a Christian I knew it was abnormal & there were many factors that can cause one to masturbate like not only at the attractiveness of women, but high libido, sociocultural & economic condition (normally from 24/25 one should be getting married), spiritual husband/wife, porn & erotic images, sex chat & immoral songs.

So you see the temptation of masturbation can come in diverse forms, & even if it is not masturbation as a reaction/response you see people committing other immoral acts like premarital sex (gf/sugar mommy/prostitute), homosexuality, rape, sex imaginations, defiling children (not cool), etc

My focus is on Masturbation & for those who think its right, it ain't because it isn't God's will.

So in my struggle, it was really that hard, I prayed over it as well but I saw myself doing it again, I knew I was disappointing my heavenly Father. to note I have high libido & attracted to ladies a lot, but am not a flirt offline & I respect women & their bodies, the mere sight or thought of lusting at anyone I vehemently rebuked but my flirting is more mainly online (its strange).

Now I heard about a message on masturbation (forgotten where) & it pointed out that amongst many sins lust is a spirit that comes & goes & that a scheduled deliverance won't be effective.

Now there came a night, while attempting to do the usual with a stubbornness in me to just do it even when I knew it was wrong & resisting a bit, I started hearing a gospel song emanating from me in that process, a song am familiar with, you know that type of gospel songs you sing/listen that revives your spirit, very heavenly & holy, yea the song started right there was reducing that sexual hunger, the immorality of the act was leaving me, I discontinued without even telling myself not to, it was supernatural, as if sin just gave way to something superior to it, the song felt like it invited God right there on my bed, I just couldn't continue with what I wanted to do because I felt freed, mind you it wasn't guilt or the knowledge I have the Holy Spirit in me or that I was abusing God's grace but what made me stop was this invitation of holiness through that song & the lust fled & my sexual urge settled down.

This morning as it had been a while back of that experience, recalling this the Holy Spirit reminded me that heavenly songs are weapons of spiritual warfare against lust & not many use it against problems like that.

Yes there are practical human ways to avoid masturbation but many are weak in the flesh to be constant with such prescriptions.
time & time again the temptation comes I either get myself busy or sing of song of praise to God with revelation & gratitude especially when alone.


I hope this solution helps my fellow brethren experiencing such.
Table the problem before God to help you overcome the immorality.
Remember Christ said the immoral won't enter the kingdom of God, so lets not be lack luster about it because we have Grace, because it can also affect your sexual health & generations to come.

With a simple reading of this verse, it appears that tattoos are clearly forbidden in the Bible.  However, while it’s true that tattoos were forbidden under Levitical law, we must remember that these laws were given to the Nation of Israel, not the Body of Christ.  As Christians, not all of the laws given to Israel apply to us. 

In the Old Testament, God gave moral, civil and ceremonial laws.

Moral, Civil, and Ceremonial Laws

For Christians, the moral Law (The Ten Commandments) remains in effect to direct our moral judgment and to command us to obey God. While the Law has no power to save us, it certainly has the power to direct our lives by guiding us to make godly choices to avoid sin and to live in a way that honors God. The Ten Commandments reflect the very nature of God–His perfection and His righteousness.  We can never attain the perfection God’s Law commands, but we can live our lives moving in that direction.  Jesus magnified the Ten Commandments, the moral Law, during His earthly ministry and Paul confirmed this Law for the Church.  God does not change, nor does His moral Law change.  Therefore, we are called to obey the Ten Commandments.

The ceremonial and civil laws were given to the Nation of Israel.  As a whole, these laws are not binding on Christians, although many of them are good for our instruction and our sanctification.  We find many repeated in the New Testament as directives for Christian living (e.g. restitution for wrongdoing).  The ceremonial and civil laws were given to Israel to instruct them how to live in relationship with God and to keep them separate from the nations and holy unto God.  Many of these laws have no relevance for Christian living (e.g. the prohibition of mixed fibers and shellfish). 

So, What About Tattoos? 

The prohibition for tattoos in Leviticus 19 falls under the ceremonial laws given to the Nation of Israel. The body markings, tattoos, during that time were symbols of pagan worship or identification with other gods and nations.  Israel was clearly told to avoid such markings of their flesh, but there is no such prohibition given to Christians.  

So, Is It a Sin to Get a Tattoo?  

The simple answer is…it depends.  It depends on the motivation behind the decision to get a tattoo, the image of the tatoo, and what it might “say” to others.  So the answer is really not very simple at all.  This is a question that requires personal discernment using biblical instruction.  A Christian knows that they have liberty in Christ Jesus (Galatians 5:1), but with this liberty comes great responsibility.

Discerning the Tattoo

Tattoos are adding a mark to one’s skin, therefore they alter the appearance of one’s body to some extent and make a statement.  In many ways, they are similar to make-up, hair color, tanning, piercings, clothing, etc, that alters one’s appearance.  Such things affect the way in which we present ourselves and the way in which others perceive us. However, unlike makeup, hair color, etc, tattoos are permanent.  Therefore, anyone considering getting a tattoo should carefully and prayerfully consider what the tattoo will look like, and what it will “say,” both today and in years to come. 

If getting a tattoo is not sinfully motivated (e.g. by rebellion against authority, to adorn, elevate or call attention to oneself in a prideful way, to make a statement for evil, etc) and, if the image and the message of the tattoo is not sinful, then getting a tattoo is not likely a sin.  There are many tattoos that honor God (crosses, verses, etc.).  There are also many that are innocuous (hearts, flowers, anchors, eagles, etc).  But sadly, there are also those which are definitely sinful because of the artwork or messages that dishonor God (you know what I’m talking about).  When the image and/or message of a tattoo is sinful, most often the intent and reasons for getting the tattoo were also sinful.  

In Summary

New Testament teachings support that as long as the intentions and motivations are not dishonoring God, and the actual art is not dishonoring in any way, then getting a tattoo is not a sin and the tattoo is not sinful….HOWEVER…

Paul said, “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.” (1 Corinthians 10:23)  Paul emphatically stated (1 Corinthians 6:12 and 10:23) that while something might be lawful (not against the Law), it might not be helpful or instructive for improvement.  Therefore, marking one’s body is not forbidden for Christians, but Christians must determine if getting a tattoo is beneficial for them and they must be certain the tattoo is God-honoring. 

Carefully and prayerfully consider getting a tattoo and evaluate whether it will be “helpful” and will “edify.”  Be certain that the artwork is God-honoring.  Take time to examine your heart fully before getting a tattoo to discern your motivation.  Determine if your reasons for wanting a tattoo are God-honoring or self-serving.  If you have any questions, do not get a tattoo… remember, tattoos are permanent.

First and foremost once you are saved you are saved....it is the progress that comes next and guess What?, it is not your duty anymore but that of the holy spirit to make you better and better.

The fact that you go back to your normal self after accepting Christ does not mean you are no longer born again...at that point all you need is ask for forgiveness from God in Jesus name And he will forgive you.

Just ask the holy spirit to come into you and you can do this through prayers and also seek for the baptism of the holy spirit and when the holy spirit comes into your life, you will find it difficult to sin and even if you sin you will never feel comfortable until you ask for forgiveness....(That is the progress)

So the good news is that you are a bona fide born again and nothing camntake you away from Jesus.l so don't ever give up on your salvation no matter how hard you struggle with sins.
