Education › Re: Medicine And Surgery: Is It Worth The Attention It Gets? by otokx(m): 7:27pm On Apr 19, 2018 |
From my experience, Medicine and Surgery is not over hyped, the only problem is that our Nigerian psyche has been bastardized and some people believe certain disciplines can provide an escape from poverty.
A teacher was telling me how intelligent her daughter is, how she got 252 last year and was not admitted to medicine so she opted for the pre degree program. This year she got 232 and wants to know her chances, she went on to say her daughter got at least 40/50 in her 1st semester exam and was from Imo State. We had to counsel her that 232 going by last years criteria is nothing to write home about, we also told her that children of nowadays are experts in telling lies. We had her get the daughters ID no and rechecked the 1st semester result online and her least score turned out to be 17 with an aggregate of 128/250 which is fail. The woman suddenly became ashamed but was still muttering that she wants the daughters life to be better than hers. Now this woman is a teacher so imagine what a farmer or trader will be thinking. She has gone to do a change of course in Jamb from Medicine to Human Physiology. Jamb is really making money off Nigerians. |

Omeokachie: Usually there is the DSS, the Police, the NSCDC, etc. guarding the national assembly...
Surprisingly today, none of them reacted nor challenged these unarmed thugs.
Who has control over these security agencies?
The security agencies failed to show up just after the Senate called for the sack of all their heads.
One man's personal ambition is about to set the nation on fire.
Get your PVC people. That is the only way you can reclaim your country from these wicked souls that are toying with your future. perhaps they went for lunch Bola Ige style |

Interesting, so only 5 unarmed people entered the Senate Chamber and went and took the mace, none of our senators could even tackle them down to the ground and become a national hero.
Wonderful |

So we did a surgical procedure for in growing toe nail at a teaching hospital.
First dressing was done by the surgeon and subsequent ones to be done by nurse.
First dressing, all the materials were made available and pain was minimal post surgery.
Subsequent dressing was now the turn of the nurse, most of the materials suddenly developed wings and flew away despite the fact a non receipted fee is collected and pocketed by the nurse.
On our last visit the nurse was actually dozing off while doing the dressing.
Thank God for education and internet, we just went to a drug store bought all the materials needed and ever since been doing the dressing at home.
Now the nurse is a matron.
yes Doctors may have their own for body as some say but JOHESU should come up with more tangible reasons for embarking on their seasonal strikes. |

ogtavia: which officers have fresh ideas...by now,its clear that this state of insecurity benefits the security agencies in terms of budgetary allocation and having their demands met by the government. I doubt if the officers next in line for appointment as service chiefs will perform differently cos of what they stand to benefit from the current state of insecurity. How many aircrafts has the Airforce purchased to better improve their fight against insurgency?.How sophisticated is the ammo arsenal of the Nigeria Army? How effective is the Nigerian Navy in guiding and securing our waterways,by now,a warship ought to have berthed in Lake Chad or any large water body to tackle the terrorist from the sea...
We are not ready to face facts yet in this country. How will a warship get to Lake Chad? Do you mean war canoe? |
