Isaac Adaka Boro like his forbearers and tribesmen were agents of NPC and political elites of northern region of Nigeria. It was the proceeds from Enugu coal that gave Igweocha in Ikwerre and other backwater villages in Ijo a link to livelihood. Talk about biting the fingers that are feeding you.

Major Isaac Jasper Adams Boro ( September 10, 1938 - May 9, 1968 ).
He was a brave man, a man that loved and care for his people.

The first Armed Rebellion against the federal republic of Nigeria was initiated and implemented by Adaka Boro.

Igbo man was the President of Nigeria, when Adaka Boro led an armed protect against the exploitation of oil and gas resources in the Niger Delta Areas.
The Igbo government were using the natural resources of Niger Delta to develop Southeast, with Capital in Enugu and nothing was given to the Niger Niger Delta people.

Adaka Boro wanted the people of Niger Delta to control a larger share of proceeds of their own oil wealth.
On February 23, 1966, they declared the Niger Delta Republic. They fought the forces for twelve days before they were defeated.

President ( Aguyi Ironsi ) sentenced Adaka Boro to death and jailed his followers for Treason.
The military Government of General Yakubu Gowon granted Adaka Boro amnesty on the eve of the Nigerian civil war in may 1967.
That is the reason why Adaka Boro fought on the side of the Federal government of Nigeria against Biafra people during the War.
But was killed by Nigeria army under mysterious circumstances in 1968.

Adaka Boro did not declare Niger delta republic because Aguiyi Ironsi who has been in power for merely 12 days was using oil proceeds to develop Enugu or any part of Igbo kand for that matter.
as at the 1960s,oil have not become a huge foreign exchange earner though the potential was there.
oil actually became a big earner from 1970 because of the Arab-Israeli war/wars (the first oil boom).
the main reason why Boro wanted a Niger delta republic is because,as Wellinki pointed out in his report,the Niger delta because of its terrain needs a special status and attention for it to be developed and Boro felt that its only an independent Niger delta republic can do that.

These guys are so desperate for Nigeria to remain as one entity out of selfishness because they know that they are milking others dry and once the country breaks up, they will lose such opportunity yet they can't even be altruistic knowing that only fairness and justice is what could make the Igbos to consider staying in Nigeria and not all these infantile propaganda about being landlocked.

Biafra will be actualized in no distant time if the status quo in Nigeria continues and that's the truth.

Nigerians should also know that yorubas are the reason Nigeria is not industrialized because after they stole foreign owned corporations in the guise of indigenization,for several years there were no FDI(foreign direct investment)as many big and world class corporation stayed away from Nigeria.
even the oil companies that stayed could not make a single investment in Nigeria in terms building of refineries or petrochemical companies.
even the problems in the Niger delta could be alluded to that as the oil companies became only interested in extracting the oil and not caring for anything else.

Firstly most people who escaped the pogrom in the north ended up in Enugu via the Eastern rail line before proceeding to their different provinces/divisions.
