You are right, It's due to your child age. I on the other with an emergency situation, my appointment is for Nov 20 2025.
In July when I had some issues, called my GP twice and I had same day appointments each time, it depends on the city as my Gp has same day appointment most times. The Emergency ward in the hospital might not take hours sometimes, it just depends on the city.

Please, anybody with information regarding Walsall. Cost of living, black friendly, commuting, etc
Walsall like NezzyMike said, is one of the cheapest places in West midlands, cheaper rent, bus service is great, they have tram services also, train services isn't that easy but it's central to Birmingham and Wolverhampton also, it's black friendly also but I havent been to everywhere there so I cant be 100% on that. Its a great place overall because you can work in Birmingham and live in Walsall, it's a good place

I am a silent reader most of the time, but I had to comment on this and encourage you, you have to start applying for jobs like cleaning and warehouse first. I was in your shoes months ago, unfortunately was my daily email and I almost gave up completely but good things comes to those who wait believe me. What I will advise is you build a good cv for the main job you intend to do while working the warehouse job and optimize your LinkedIn, see I never believe social media was important to job hunt until I experienced it, make your main CV align with your social media and be intentional about what you need to do, everyone's outcome is different and believe me aim higher don't listen to people when they say "in this UK, na only warehouse and care you fit do" these are great jobs but if your plan is different follow it as this country gives you opportunity only if you are ready to go for it, I did warehouse passionately and believe me most of the people I am close to are in care/support so for no reason don't think I look down on these jobs but I'll tell you that you are in a country you don't need to know somebody to be whatever you want to be. So I am encouraging you this morning and I am using myself as an example and telling you things change quickly from bad to good here but you only need to be resilient and keep going no matter what, your good news is just around the corner.

DaveWonder:
Good day house, I just need encouragement from you all. I entered UK early this month and I've been job hunting, mehn it hasn't been easy at all. I apply not less that 20 jobs daily and I keep getting the unfortunately mail. I live around Manchester. Just want my senior men to encourage me cos sometimes when I see the mail, it kills my moral but regardless I'll keep applying, hoping this phase will pass soon.

Encouraging someone out there to keep applying for these jobs because that's what this thread did for me. If I wasn't following this thread I would think once I secure a good warehouse job, I should keep it, but I kept applying, different jobs different role and now I have my offer letter for an entry role with a bank. It's not a big salary but promise of growth is enough for me to start from there. Warehouse is an honest job and a good one, but nothing stops us from aiming higher. All the arguments or the fights, all the differing opinions, believe me it goes a long way in helping the new immigrants. So let's keep aiming higher.

Hello everyone I would like to know if anyone has an idea when an intent offer letter can be received from a bank role which resumption is for January and the interview has been conducted and told successful for a week now. Just a bit impatient now after so many unfortunate emails. I don't know if anyone has been in this position and how long did the offer letter take? @Thewritingnerd @Goke7 @hustla

This your use of word "lebuke" is peculiar to some certain kind of gist.......sounds familiar??

Progressivegee:
Just look at how you are ranting

Same person denying that no one has ever said care work is useless is now here spewing trash about the care profession. Is this not hypocrisy at its peak? Even nurses give bed pan to patients and do assist carers in attending to difficult residents. So nurses shouldn't work in a care facility as well?

A carer's role isn't all about personal care. Carers also give medication and many also learn to prepare care plans which is essential to becoming a manger or getting a more senior role.

You should be the one crying not me. You wey dey hustle factory work that breaks back, yet you spew trash about other people's job. If the people you know are stuck in care jobs for 7 years with no growth, its your damn business. It isn't surprising after all, all of una na hustlas as your moniker implies. People I know who started from care have risen to become care managers and owners of care companies. They earn very well and have huge investments both in the UK and Nigeria.

So focus on your lebuke or offloading of trailers and let others be. In a couple of years, they would have earned transferable skills for other roles outside care or would have grown in their profession while chilling as Permanent residents and you with your broken back from your lebuke will be hustling from one company to another for sponsorship.

Awon evidence crew, here you go

Schoolhike:
Yes, it does, even the 12 liters type should do.

My apartment consistently faced issues with high humidity, leading to a cold environment, mold growth, condensation on windows, and even damage to lots of my furnitures and wallpapers last year.

However, since I started using this electric dehumidifier, I've been collecting between 3.5 to 4.5 liters of water daily. It made a significant difference, all the spaces, including all bedrooms and bathroom are now very dry

I tried various dehumidifying sprays before, but they weren't effective. Addressing the core issue of excessive moisture has proven beneficial. Plus, I now spend less on heating as the heater is not battling with cold moisture by trying to heat up the cold moistured air first, making the heating more efficient.
Hello @Schoolhike I sent you a dm here on nairaland but got no reply, I have an interview with the civil service on a role for product manager, I am researching on YouTube about what I might face during the interview but I won't mind you helping out also since it's something you know more about, thank you

To those still in Naija planning to come over, please prepare 3months of stay money, rent, bills, food. No landlord here is renting to a newbie without payslip or records, that’s the first reality that hits you…..so let the MA come first or the MA with partner and leave the kids back first till you get accommodation, flatshare and spare room is your friend in those first months, so don’t think you are coming to put money down and rent instantly. When it comes to job, yes it’s saturated but still what I see……. opportunities still. First drop all your ego for Murtala Airport and be ready to hustle like you’ve never had a good life before. No one knows who you are here so they aren’t offering you that type of job you are used to over there. There are other things I want to say but I am still in my first month here, I’ve worked, I’ve lost opportunities and I’ve registered to have work license, like a work friend told me, “there are opportunities here but choose what you want to do and be intentional about it, start low and work your way to the top”. People will say don’t come but it’s your choice. If you won’t complain but ready to start low and be determined, come but if you think as you enter they will share job and money then rethink. It’s a new country, a place you know no one so expect difficulties as part of your journey, forget the beautiful places and concentrate on paying bills first. I hope this helps someone and less I forget as you still Dey Naija enjoy yourself oo, go to parties, hang out with friends and do your normal activities, when you get here, na you, your family and your God and work work work. Stop complaining about UK, dem no drag us here, na we apply to come, they have given us the lemon now let’s find a way to make lemonade out of it.

Please avoid Wakanow. Their hidden charge is killing.
I have used travelstart for booking and also used wakanow for booking flights, both bring you different charges for you to click on, the only one wakanow makes compulsory is WhatsApp charges and they more than deliver on it. They don’t force you to accept any charges, it’s at your discretion.

POE question
Me: Hello
IO: Hi
Me: hands in 3 passports
IO: who are they to you?
Me: my daughter, my son
IO: why are you here?
Me: to meet my wife?
IO: what is she doing here:
Me: she works and lives here
IO: scans passport and asks me to thumbprint, then daughter, then son but son is so tired due to the journey, another IO helps him with it.
IO: how long has your wife been here?
Me: X month
IO: what does she do?
Me: Xxxxxx work
IO: specifics
Me: Xxxxxxxxxxx
IO: what company?
Me: Xxxxxxxxxxxxx ltd
IO: where?
Me: Xxxxxxxxxxxx
IO: she lives where?
Me: xxxxxxxxx same city as work.
IO: show me her address
Me: let me write it out for you
IO: hands me the paper and pen
Me: writes our address
IO: shows the second IO our passports, they point and mumble some words and then faces me again
IO: keeps the paper
IO: what is her name
Me: Xxxx xxxxxx xxxxxx
IO: whips out the stamp and stamps us in…… you are free to go.
Me: replies as the JJC I am, through here? Pointing to the exit gate
IO: yes
Me: Have a great day

It was a long wait to re unite my family again, long wait to get the passports of my kids, long search for house while real estate agents and landlords makes different documentation requests, we got it done eventually, BRP picked up for me and the kids. I know the UK won’t be a stroll in the park, I keep looking everywhere and tell myself it will be worth it. One day I will open up about my life in Naija and how it was enviable but government policies never supported thriving SME rather they kill it with their ignorance, anyway I am here now and it’s time to write our own story………let’s go
