RipMorosini:In July when I had some issues, called my GP twice and I had same day appointments each time, it depends on the city as my Gp has same day appointment most times. The Emergency ward in the hospital might not take hours sometimes, it just depends on the city. |
@jedisco most times when I read your comment I wish I can like it a thousand times, I am open to mentorship so much points delivered precisely and always saying it as it should be……we the association of silent readers and silent learners |
Olodoscholar:Walsall like NezzyMike said, is one of the cheapest places in West midlands, cheaper rent, bus service is great, they have tram services also, train services isn't that easy but it's central to Birmingham and Wolverhampton also, it's black friendly also but I havent been to everywhere there so I cant be 100% on that. Its a great place overall because you can work in Birmingham and live in Walsall, it's a good place |
I am a silent reader most of the time, but I had to comment on this and encourage you, you have to start applying for jobs like cleaning and warehouse first. I was in your shoes months ago, unfortunately was my daily email and I almost gave up completely but good things comes to those who wait believe me. What I will advise is you build a good cv for the main job you intend to do while working the warehouse job and optimize your LinkedIn, see I never believe social media was important to job hunt until I experienced it, make your main CV align with your social media and be intentional about what you need to do, everyone's outcome is different and believe me aim higher don't listen to people when they say "in this UK, na only warehouse and care you fit do" these are great jobs but if your plan is different follow it as this country gives you opportunity only if you are ready to go for it, I did warehouse passionately and believe me most of the people I am close to are in care/support so for no reason don't think I look down on these jobs but I'll tell you that you are in a country you don't need to know somebody to be whatever you want to be. So I am encouraging you this morning and I am using myself as an example and telling you things change quickly from bad to good here but you only need to be resilient and keep going no matter what, your good news is just around the corner. Encouraging someone out there to keep applying for these jobs because that's what this thread did for me. If I wasn't following this thread I would think once I secure a good warehouse job, I should keep it, but I kept applying, different jobs different role and now I have my offer letter for an entry role with a bank. It's not a big salary but promise of growth is enough for me to start from there. Warehouse is an honest job and a good one, but nothing stops us from aiming higher. All the arguments or the fights, all the differing opinions, believe me it goes a long way in helping the new immigrants. So let's keep aiming higher. |
Hello everyone I would like to know if anyone has an idea when an intent offer letter can be received from a bank role which resumption is for January and the interview has been conducted and told successful for a week now. Just a bit impatient now after so many unfortunate emails. I don't know if anyone has been in this position and how long did the offer letter take? @Thewritingnerd @Goke7 @hustla |

To those still in Naija planning to come over, please prepare 3months of stay money, rent, bills, food. No landlord here is renting to a newbie without payslip or records, that’s the first reality that hits you…..so let the MA come first or the MA with partner and leave the kids back first till you get accommodation, flatshare and spare room is your friend in those first months, so don’t think you are coming to put money down and rent instantly. When it comes to job, yes it’s saturated but still what I see……. opportunities still. First drop all your ego for Murtala Airport and be ready to hustle like you’ve never had a good life before. No one knows who you are here so they aren’t offering you that type of job you are used to over there. There are other things I want to say but I am still in my first month here, I’ve worked, I’ve lost opportunities and I’ve registered to have work license, like a work friend told me, “there are opportunities here but choose what you want to do and be intentional about it, start low and work your way to the top”. People will say don’t come but it’s your choice. If you won’t complain but ready to start low and be determined, come but if you think as you enter they will share job and money then rethink. It’s a new country, a place you know no one so expect difficulties as part of your journey, forget the beautiful places and concentrate on paying bills first. I hope this helps someone and less I forget as you still Dey Naija enjoy yourself oo, go to parties, hang out with friends and do your normal activities, when you get here, na you, your family and your God and work work work. Stop complaining about UK, dem no drag us here, na we apply to come, they have given us the lemon now let’s find a way to make lemonade out of it. |
milliki:I have used travelstart for booking and also used wakanow for booking flights, both bring you different charges for you to click on, the only one wakanow makes compulsory is WhatsApp charges and they more than deliver on it. They don’t force you to accept any charges, it’s at your discretion. |
