This why I continue to judge Nigeria in a bad way. Until change comes, many people that live in that country will continue to suffer under the hands of people called themselves a leader. To that doctor and nurse, whether they are acting upon the law, they will surely regret it. Emergency is met for anyone with or without police report and medical insurance. Is that insurance exit in Nigeria.

Yes, now they can call Nigeria! when it comes to UN troops in sub-Saharan Africa they can call Nigeria, when it comes to Ecomog in west Africa they can call Nigeria na only Nigerian solders sabi die?or na we sabi fight pass?they call it peace keeping and yet we donate more lives than most countries in Africa but yet they see nothing good in Nigeria until peace keeping comes. So na we keep peace pass abi?

"Yaradua beautiful bride" beautiful ko beaufulltoo ni.If he's too busy to go what's the problem?
Canceling the UN assembly meeting is not good for Nigeria. He can easily say no, Nigeria will not contribute more troops rather than making Nigeria look bad. The man is useless and he can't use his brain. Come think of it, what about India and Bangladesh that contribute more troops than Nigeria, will they cancel the UN meeting because they don't want to contribute troops anymore? What a pathetic.
PoliticsRe: Yar'adua Will Not Attend Un General Assembly by OvieE: 1:48pm On Sep 21, 2009
I have read many people post but few people stated his health is the problem; those people need to check themselves out as well. Yar'adua knew about his health before becoming a president. If he knew that his health will keep him from performing a task, all he needs to do was decline the presidency. For many here, I supported you believe it or not, the first time I saw this guy on CNN news, I knew Nigeria is doom. Yar'adua is incompetent, dull, lack Intellectual, his not well educated, lack ability to stand up as a leader to bring issue to the table, he cannot speak English, he is afraid of other elight leaders, he is not smart and I can see it his face, he afraid to challenge his peer to accomplish a thing, and many more and you can see it in his face.

If Yar'adua is in Saudi Arabia for medical care, then he schedule his appointment on purpose during the UN assembly meeting dates because he doesn't know what to say to other leaders.

For those that say Yar'adua has a more suppressing issue to tackle at home, you need to have your brain check maybe in Saudi Arabia hospital as well. Nigeria have been facing all kind of issue with out results. This Yar'adua has been in president for two years now and has been able to produce anything why suddenly he can tackle issue in one week and bring a significant results. President Obama is facing the most challenging issue in his career which the health care reform. Is Obama will make excuse not to attend because of the health care reform. Common people, we all can point at many excuses that will make Yar'adua to cancel his trip to UN but to me, the man has no clue and has nothing to say to his peers and he is afraid to stand in front and address other leaders. The man is a useless, brain-drain leader who has not clue of what it take to be a president.

Yar'adua quietness can lead to a bigger shock to Nigeria in the future. Who knows if he is silently looting Nigeria treasury but his health is covering it up. Yar'adua knows that his health will interfer with his work as a president but the man want something that is why he force himself on that position. He can easily say I do not want.

PoliticsRe: Yar'adua Will Not Attend Un General Assembly by OvieE: 3:03am On Sep 21, 2009
I always suspect that this man is useless, brainless and lack leadership.  Yar'adua is afraid of other leaders or embarrass. This guy is ashamed of himself. He doesn't want to embarrass himself address others leaders when it get to his turn. I believe you have seen one of his speech before. This guy speaks like someone who English is his fifth language and he always read and look down all the time. He always turn down every event he is invited to. If this was obasanjo that had the opportunity to come to UN, this guy will be the first leader to touch down in America.  Yar'adua  is really a sick man. I believe other leaders are happy to hear this news because I know for sure none the leaders will not give  Yar'adua a face because he is scary. Other leaders can now breath with their nose open.

Yar'adua is not fit for a leader. Anyway, I blame obasanjo for imposing the brainless man upon a nation that suppose to be a leader to the rest instead we are lacking a leadership to small country like Benin, Togo Ghana and others. What a shame.

Of phone guns, Coca-Cola and Nigeria
By Reuben Abati

"Look can you point that your handset away from my face?", "What 's the matter with you?", "Who knows whether you are an assassin on the payroll of an enemy? Have you not heard that there are phone guns in Nigeria now? The Police Commissioner in Cross River State has had to issue a special alert advising members of the public to be very careful. The man in front of you who is making a phone call and chatting heartily may be an assassin waiting to put a bullet through your heart."

"Wonderful. This is what my Pastor calls the sign of end-times."

"Look, I am discussing something serious. Can we leave your Pastor out of this? "

"You'd soon discover that what this country needs is actually prayers and deliverance. It keeps stumbling from one problem to the other. Kidnapping, armed robbery, Niger Delta crisis, collapse of the financial sector, and now phone guns, "

"Okay, when we manage to hold a National Conference and we all agree that the country needs deliverance, we'd ask you to send for your Pastor. In the meantime, I am worried about the increasing crisis of personal safety in this country. With killer-phones in people's hands, nobody is safe anymore. Don't you know what that means? In fact, the police say the phone is available in the Nigerian market. It is imported from Italy and Yugoslavia. It is a .22 calibre weapon. It can fire four shots in quick succession and the way to pull the trigger is to pretend to be dialing numbers 5 to 8 on the handset."

"Jesus is Lord"

"What is the matter with you?"

"I said Jesus is Lord"

"What does that mean?"

" I am agreeing with what you said. If the Nigerian Police already know that the killer-phone is in Nigeria, what it looks like, how it is operated, so what are theydoing about it? What is the point in lamenting publicly? It is their job to work with the Customs, the SSS, and other security agencies to fish out the importers of the deadly phone and then arrest those behind it."

"Which Police? The Nigerian Police? Which Customs? The same Customs that says it cannot arrest the wives of prominent Nigerians who bring contraband into the country? Which security agencies? The same ones who did not know that Nuhu Ribadu came into Nigeria until they read about it in the newspapers the following day? "

"But one thing government can do is to ban the importation of the phones into the country and to insist that whoever has it must obtain a licence."

"Tell me one banned item that is not available in the Nigerian market. The best way to promote a product in Nigeria is to ban it. The same people who issue the ban order will grant import waivers to their friends and you would be surprised that the product will flood the market."

"Okay, there should be massive public enlightenment. They should tell us what the gun looks like."

"It is slightly bigger than the normal phone, and heavier."

"You mean it looks like Turaya phone. So if I see anyone carrying a Turaya phone, I should duck like George Bush. "

"I think we will all be better off wearing bullet proof vests. Imagine if the phone gun comes with a silencer."

"But let the security agencies do their work."

"They say the gun has serious destructive power"

"What are you saying? Every gun has destructive power."

"Everything is going wrong with this country. Yar'Adua should do something. Let the man do something"

"He is doing something. After all, the Minister of State for Power says the current electricity generation and distribution level is 2, 450 Mwts. "

"What I don't like is when government officials tell lies. Where did he get that from? They just lie with statistics. 6, 000 mega watts, 2, 450 Mwts. Why 2, 450, why not 2, 500? I live in this country and I know that most Nigerians are used to having no electricity supply. A friend took her children on holiday abroad. The children didn't want to return. They said didn't want to go back to the country where there is no light. "

"Don't mind that Minister of State. Where was he when the National Assembly was thrown into darkness for almost a whole day due to power outage? And even the Presidential Villa in Abuja?"

"Looks like that National Assembly is jinxed. Last week, a lawmaker slapped a security man there. This week, the electricity supply system packed up."

"Send your Pastor to them. They may need his services."

"You know because of this electricity thing, Coca-Cola is shutting down its concentrate plant in Nigeria"

"It has done so already. It is not just this electricity thing. The cost of doing business in Nigeria is too high. Okay Coca Cola used to have its concentrate plants in two places in Africa: Nigeria and Swaziland. Before closing down the one in Ota, Ogun state, they must have looked at the figures and arrived at the conclusion that it is wasteful producing in Nigeria. The country is facing massive de-industrialisation simply because we can't get the equation right. Michelin is gone. Dunlop has relocated. We now import all brands of tyres. All the warehouses of old have been turned into prayer houses by your pastor and his friends. Now to drink a bottle of Coke, we have to depend on concentrate from Swaziland. And can you blame Coca Cola? Look at Ota. The place is even inaccessible. To get to Ota sometimes, you have to spend up to eight hours in the traffic."

"The only thing I know about Swaziland is its annual Reed Dance and the fact that the king can take any virgin of his choice as wife, and he does that every year. You need to see those girls during the Reed Dance when they bare it all for His Majesty Mswati III's sole pleasure."

"I believe what is relevant to this discussion is that Swaziland offers a better business environment, while Nigeria is no longer attractive. We need to do something about the economy."

"Come on. We are doing something."

"What?"

"The CBN and the President are planning to launch new polymer notes in the N5, N10 and N50 denominations. That is something."

"And how does that address the problem of Nigeria's failing economy?"

"The new CBN governor will get to put his own signature on Naira notes. And you know, the polymer note is very rugged. I have seen market women washing the N20 note that is made with polymer with detergent soap. You can even iron it."

"It is obvious that you don't know anything about economics. Just save your breath."

"Go and sit down. Everybody is an economist in Nigeria."

"Like who?"

"Like ASUU, SSANU and NASU. There is an economic logic to their fight with the government."

"How?"

"Demand and supply"

"Look can you just leave this matter of economics. But I think it is a shame that President Yar'Adua has not deemed it necessary to declare an emergency in the education sector and take on the crisis as a Presidential affair. In the end, he is the man to be blamed for keeping Nigerian undergraduates in the state school system at home for about three months."

"A whole semester."

"Looks like we will end up with a whole session."

"Oh yes."

"Nigeria's education sector has been taken over by Boko Haram fundamentalists. You know I said the other time, that the people we really need to worry about are the Boko Haram activists in policy-making positions. "

"I was talking about the economy"

"And I thought I advised you to keep your opinion to yourself on that subject."

"No, you think about this."

"What? "

"In Owerri, Imo state visually impaired college graduates invaded the Government House with their walking sticks to protest what they called the insensitivity of the state government to their plight."

"Insensitivity?"

"Yes, they say they don't have jobs. And that their colleagues who are still in school are not being paid their bursary allowances by the state government."

"I read that the physically challenged adopted a similar measure recently in Jalingo, Taraba sate. They too staged a protest over the non-payment of allowances."

"Something like the revolt of beggars."

"It is more about the failure of government to cater for its citizens. When you have the physically challenged taking on government and the able-bodied also protesting, then it is possible to measure the extent of social alienation in the country. And I dare say the matter is serious."

"The physically challenged are not having it easy. Do you know that in some states now, state officials go out onto the streets and they physically deport such persons to their states of origin."

"What happened to citizenship?"

"Which citizenship? Some states have a beggars unwanted policy."

"They don't want beggars and yet government cannot create jobs, and even the companies that are supposed to create jobs are closing shop and relocating to other African countries. Nothing quite makes sense anymore."

"Well, Gani was a great man. That makes sense to me. May his soul rest in peace. "

"But what was that thing I read about burying him in a 14-carat gold casket, the same type that was used to bury Michael Jackson."

"Do you have a problem with that? A man has the right to choose how he wants to go to heaven. In Ghana, some people insist on being buried in a casket made like an aeroplane."

"Yeah, but gold? "

"Gani was an aristocrat, you must know. His grandfather Lisa Alujonu was a legend in Ondo. His own father helped to propagate the Islamic religion in the town And he was himself a legend of our time. You better go and do something with your own life, so you can leave this world the way you want."

"The good thing is that he used his wealth, material and intellectual, to help the poor."

"Now you are talking."

"But I hope his children will not quarrel over his Will and that they will not turn his legacy into a matter for litigation like some other families."

"Look. You are on your own now, "

We criticize the roads because there is no proper roads that have been built , you drive through 3rd mainland bridge and it is like you are swimming in a car, is that bridge leveled? only in Nigeria. The first day I went on 3rd mainland , I was just scared, the amount of gaps on the bridge not acceptable.
Abuja airport or the new MMa2 is not up to scratched compared with Dubai, Singapore and the new Qatar airport.

The truth of the matter is that I do not think Nigeria has airport. It is just a place for small planes to touchdown. And Lagos airport, please don't let me go their. For the first time my sisters went to Nigeria on getting off the plane, they said they made a mistake coming to Nigeria because it was so hot and smelling dusty. I see the reason why Delta airline do not stay in Lagos more than two hours. Let not go to airports area becuase Nigeria is no match to North or Southern Africa nott to talk of the west. What kind of airport that has no road and have all kind og people in there. Checkpoint everywehere in Nigeria. Police stopped and my sister on way to warri and they refused to let us go because they discover that we foreigner that they practicaly ask us to give themdollars and not naira. Thank God my friend that know Nigeria system able to free us after along hour of talking and arguing. Benin city and Lagos road, god forbid. death trap that claimed people lives in our present. Two cars flight over the road and into a river. Road is so bad that I sweat not driver if I do go to Nigeria next but what is killing me that Nigeria airlines cannot be trusted. Army robbers, two times we mearly ran into them. God bless those who told us to turn around on time. Please let me stop here for now because the name Nigeria drive nut.

It seems to me that some people need be tutored on what is realy happening in Nigeria so that they can shut up and let people that know what goes on in Nigeria realy talk - what the fu ck is in MacDonalds that some says Nigerians will not be able to afford the same quality that is in Europe or america- what the fu ck? You must be stupid. The truth is that even the riches man in Nigeria cannot go MacDonalds everyday to eat and as a common high school students in US do. A big restaurant like MacDonalds will never go to Nigeria because the first thing they will do is calculation. In US MacDonalds cost $5, 6,7 and up. Exchange $5 to Naira it will give you 769 Naira. Who in Nigeria will buy the MacDonalds. MacDonalds CEO knows that Nigerians are suffering. What kind of a man will take a big franchise business to Nigeria. Is it food the 10% who loot the Treasury or the common man who cannot send his child to school. If MacDonalds come to Nigeria, one burger a lone will cost 2000 Nara to talk of freshfries, something to watch it and other things like ice cream etc. Buy the time the food is ship from US to Nigeria, transporting it from one location to other places in Nigeria, diesel in generator and paying your workers, forget. Such a big business like MacDonalds will never survive in Nigeria because even the riches person Nigeria is not ready for thing like MacDonalds. In every business, we look for profit not lose. MacDonalds food stuffs cannot be process in Nigeria so it has to be make in US and ship. Nigeria infrastruction is hell to compete with. So forget about MacDonalds in Nigeria for year to come. The rich is not even ready for such a thing. MacDonalds in will cost more than 4000 Naira by the time you calculation everything form A to Z.

hi BabaTony,
i must confess u have raised some very good points. folks like u make me know Nigerian definitely have great minds.
but , we appear 2 share different view to the the same problem. i believe that , rather building some fancy park, why dont d government be honest with them self and tackle the needs of the people. come on look at our schools, our hospitals , people still die of preventable illness.

this is my angle, tourism will not work when the wellcoming country face basic infrastucture problems.
come on, who r we kidding. do u really think the money generated from the project go to the people of calaber.

if u provide Nigerians with basic things like light, goodroad, water, jobs etc, crime will reduce. Nigeria will b attractive to people with or without tinapa. we r trying to encourage tourism, while foreign compains here in Nigeria are trying to get out esp to Ghana.

as i said, no one builds a house on a poor foundation. it will fall. the Nigerian people r the foundation 4 any growth. treat us like shit, and no matter how beautiful the structure is (tinapa) it will fall.

God bless Nigeria
Thank you. You raise a good point. I do not see what is a big deal about Tinapa and six flags planning to come to Nigeria. Common man is dieing every and suffering on streets of Calabar. People do not go on vacation because of six flags but go there because infrastuctures are were provided. There are many people here thinking that Tinapa will bring the almighty to Nigeria but they lie. Many foreigner business are there in that Tinapa place? Many companies are packing up and living Nigeria to a small near by countries. Good government will first provide a common necessity to its people before embanking such a project that they will not maintain. Thing in Nigeria is about polities and this government with six flags and tinapa thing just want to put their name.

There are some people in this place that need to seriously travel outside of Nigeria.  Chinua Achebe refused to return to Nigeria almost ten years because bad leaders to do not care to tackle one issue or care for the country except their personal interest. I will one day act like  Chinua Achebe. Nigeria is a disgrace country to Africa in general and many people in the world do not want to hear the word called NIGERIA. Nigeria will never get better. Is not that I am praying but we have to face the fact. Our parent where born with the way everything in it crumble and that they die the way they where born to meet it. Now we are the children are facing it. But God forbid, I will not suffer in a country my grand parents suffered. I will live and grow old in a country where I will not worry about my welfare or go to hospital and dr. will tell me to live because is too overcrowded.

I do not think tinapa attract visitor at all talkless of foreigners. Waste as usual. Building a fancy thing does not provide education or food to poor Masses.

If the lady is financially stable than the man, why not? God do not say men should be the only one to propose.

Where will the electricity to power the six flags come from. Instead of government to develop good livinig standard to his people but would rather create a thing that will not last in Nigeria. What waste.
