Also after start up, the laptop used to "hang" or "seize" for about 30 seconds. During the 30 seconds period, the laptop would not respond to any input. I hear this is peculiar to compaq laptops but my sister's compaq doesn't hang like mine does. Is there anything i can do to rectify it?

@ deji and zim drill: thanks for your advices. The problem actually started when i used my sony ericsson as modem on the laptop to browse. Anytime i connect the phone, USB port anti virus software would alert of a threat called "duekuuf exe". But when i scanned the phone, no virus was detected. That's why i think duekuuf is a virus. Can you recommend a good anti virus for me? I'm tired of AVG and NORTON gives me hypertension (slows down the system).
