The APC Youth Progressive Frontier has slammed the former interim chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Bisi Akande over his recent ‘crude’ statement on the health of President Muhammadu Buhari. The group said people like Akande should be taken for psychiatric test because a sane human being would never joke with health of a sitting president. Bisi Akande had in a statement on Monday claimed that some people were "feasting" on President Buhari's poor health. The APC chieftain admitted that Buhari's illness was gradually taking a toll on the country, adding that history may repeat itself. “These are two great red flag dangers that have the potential of plunging the country into unprecedented chaos and of destabilising the gains of democracy since 1999. “The greatest danger, however, is for political interests at the corridor of power attempting to feast on the health of Mr. President in a dangerous manner that may aggravate the problems between the executive and the national assembly without realising if, in the end, it could drag the entire country into avoidable doom. “My greatest fear, however, is that the country should not be allowed to slide into anarchy and disorder of a “monumental proportion," Akande was quoted in the statement as saying. Reacting however, the APC youth group in a statement jointly signed by its National President, Gbolaham Badmus and Secretary General, Shodeinde Lukman, lampooned the former party chairman for trying to play politics with the president’s health. The group called on Nigerians to rally round Buhari in prayers as he continues to work and fight against corruption, which has eaten deep into the nation’s economy. The statement said, “As patriotic Nigerians that are thoroughly engrossed in the task of contributing our quota to the development of the nation, we are pained by the way and manner some key officials of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have chosen to make derogatory statement about the affairs of the nation especially the issues surrounding the well-being of our dear president, Muhammadu Buhari. “In one of the latest instances, the founding National Chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande shamelessly told those who cared to listen to his infamous sermon that the health condition of the president have dovetailed into untold hardship on the citizenry and called for emergency measures to be taken in order to avert a national calamity. We view this as an irresponsible drift. “With due respect, we wish to state categorically that such careless utterances by a person who is supposed to have known and appreciated the immense energy, vigour, dedication and a whole-hearted commitment President Buhari have injected into the task of rejuvenating our national life, is grossly disappointing. And has actually gone a long way to show how petty our grand parents have become. In order climes, this would have been a time for sober reflection and not a time for some people to take alibi in and unleash their hidden venom and deep rooted hatred against the president,” the group noted. The APC youth noted that it was glaring that people like Akande is omly trying to tear the party apart with his personal interest and ulterior motives. “Those who met with Mr. President on Tuesday, 2nd May, 2017, including the Attorney -General of the federation, Abubakar Malami as well as the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mainkanti Baru pointed out in loud and clear terms that he was in high spirit and on top of his job. “This no doubt will come as a rude shock to Chief Akande who has chosen to become an unholy tool in the hands of some few self seeking individuals who have used him to massage their ego. “In extreme cases, we are also recommending a psychiatric test for persons like Chief Akande and his barefaced litany of co-travellers. Nigeria belongs to all of us and not a particular section or elements who think by talking down on President Buhari, they will achieve cheap political goals not minding that such will not be of any consequence on the rest of us,” the statement added. The All Progressives Congress, Beunue State chapter has fired back at those attacking them for comparing a commissioner nominee with Jesus Christ. The social media sphere went up in flame on Thursday after story cropped up that Comrade Joe Shimaor, a commissioner nominee from Kwande did not go beyond primary school. http://www.idomavoice.com/2017/03/even-jesus-christ-did-not-go-to-school.html Many Benue citizens were not pleased with Ortom for opting for an academically half-baked person as a commissioner. In a quick reaction, the Acting Publicity Secretary of the APC, Berger Alfred Emberga said there was nothing wrong with the decision, claiming that even Jesus Christ never attended any formal school but people called him ‘teacher’ source: http://www.idomavoice.com/2017/03/tell-me-name-of-school-that-jesus.html Emberga got more than he bargained for as many angry social media users took him to the cleaner can for trying to mock Jesus. Defending his action, the APC PRO dared his critics to tell him the name of the school Jesus Christ attended. “Please tell me the name of the school that Jesus attended,” he wrote. The N40, 000 the Nigerian Peace Corps is taking from mostly unemployed youth who seek job placement in the organisation covers the running cost and provision of materials, its National Commandant said on Thursday. Dickson Akor said during a press briefing in Abuja that the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission had investigated the movement as far back as 2004 and cleared it of any wrongdoing. “The ICPC has investigated us in 2004 and established that the money is going towards training materials and we’re not extorting money from the youth,” Mr. Akor said. He added that the Peace Corps also pay instructors to train its members at its training facilities across the country. “We have been holding workshops and training our members and we buy them training materials and also pay honorarium to their lecturers,” Mr. Akor said. “We also pay our existing staff and not a single one of them is earning less than N40, 000 per month even though we’re not getting any support from the government right now.” The comments came hours after the Nigerian Senate and the House of Representatives harmonised the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill to give the group, which had operated as a volunteer organisation for 18 years, government backing. The bill is expected to be forwarded to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent. Mr. Akor said the organisation would stop charging for services once the bill is signed into law. “Immediately the president assents to this bill, nobody will pay a dime to be trained,” Mr. Akor said. “Nobody will pay any money for registration.” Mr. Akor said the Peace Corps will create employment for the Nigerian youth to “promote the culture of peace” by providing community service and neighbourhood watch for nation building. He said the services are currently not being rendered by the police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps or any other existing security agencies. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/221017-nigerian-peace-corps-collecting-n40-000-unemployed-youth-commandant.html

The story of 73-year-old Alice Alache Akla Adepe is akin to that of biblical Hadassah.Source>>>>>http://www.idomavoice.com/2017/01/exclusive-interview-54-year-old-alice.html

By Nats Onoja Agbo If very little is known about Ms Alice Alache Akla Adepe, it is not surprising. She came ahead of her time. Against all odds, and because of her enchanting beauty and carriage, Ms Alice Alache Akla Adepe emerged as Miss Nigeria in 1963. Born to the family of Akla Adepe of the Oono family in Otukpo-Icho in the present Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State in the 1940s, she created history by being the second lady from Northern Nigeria to win the coveted crown for which she was rewarded with a Scooter. When she returned to Otukpo after her victory, and made a historic trip through the streets of Otukpo on her scooter. She was cheered by hundreds of men and women who thronged the streets to welcome their heroine. When Ms Alice Alache Akla Adepe won the contest in 1963, she was addressed as Alice Abeebe, apparently because the organizers mistook Adepe for Abeebe. The franchise of the Miss Nigeria contest, which started as a photo contest in 1957, was owned by Daily Times of Nigeria. Each contestant posted a photograph of herself to the Daily Times headquarters in Lagos. Thereafter, finalists were shortlisted and invited to compete in the live final at the Lagos Island Club. Grace Oyelude, a Yoruba from Northern Nigeria won the first edition of Miss Nigeria in 1957. Helen Anyamaeluna, a Secretarial student from the Eastern Region won the 1958 edition, just as Nene Etule, a Cameroonian won the 1959 edition; constitutionally, Southern Cameroon was still part of Nigeria by 1959. Rosemary Anieze from Midwestern Region won the 1960 Miss Nigeria contest but is sometimes referred to as Miss Independence, in obvious reverence for Nigeria’s year of independence. Clara Emefiana and Yemi Idowu won the 1961 and 1962 editions. Forty-one years after Ms Alice Alache Akla Adepe won it, Ms Ene Lawani emerged victorious as Miss Nigeria in 2004. Interestingly, her niece, Patience Ahubi Adepe was recently crowned the Most Beautiful Girl in Idomaland. It came to many as a rude shock. Others received the news with excitement. Some welcomed it with mixed feelings. To some, it was an honour well deserved. May thought it was unchristian while others were of the opinions that to whom much is expected, much is given. The recent visitation of God’s General and Apostle of the Most High, Dr. Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre to Tivland has triggered a slue of controversy, particularly, with regard to the alleged ‘title’ conferred on him by the overwhelmed people of Gboko, where the programme took place. In fact, the social media sphere literally caught fire following the outbreak of the unconfirmed and misplaced news that Dr. Paul was ‘conferred’ with a chieftaincy title by the people of the land. However, findings by IDOMA VOICE have it that there are many things to the crusade than what the media has been trending. The crusade, which was tagged Tivland Deliverance and Healing crusade has been described by many, especially those who attended as one of the most remarkable gatherings in Tivland after a long while. The crusade equally drew high and mighty Tiv natives from all walks of life. Amazingly, the crusade came few days to the Tor Tivship election. Findings by this reporter have it that since the extant time, the traditional stool of the Tiv community, the acclaimed fifth largest ethnic group has never been occupied by a true Christian. The crusade was an ample opportunity for them to seek the face of God for a true ruler who would oversee the traditional stool of the Tiv nation. Investigations by our reporter have shown that there were many things about the epoch-making crusade that people are not even talking about. To say the least, this crusade witnessed so many healings of people from chronic diseases and infirmities, diversities of miracles, numerous deliverance from afflictions, freedom from demonic bondages, breaking of witchcraft spells, restoration of the destiny of the nation of Tiv land amongst many other supernatural manifestations of the power of God. Speaking with our reporter in Gboko, a citizen said that the issue of the title being conferred on Dr. Paul came as a shock. He said, “I was there and I can tell you that the so-called claim that a title was given to Daddy was as a rude shock to him. He was never aware of the whole drama. The people wanted him to identify with their culture by wearing him their traditional attire as it is done for all visiting evangelists. The man of God however requested that the attire be presented to him to pray upon them before putting them on as a mark of respect for the TIV nation. It was one of the excited persons present who made the spontaneous pronouncement that is now negatively trending on the news. “I could recall the shock and surprise on Dr Paul's face and that of his wife, Dr. Becky when the person made that statement because he was also hearing it for the first time. It was in no way a conferment of a traditional chieftaincy title. "My Pastor was not given a traditional title and he did not and will never receive a chieftaincy title. Apparently, the people were overwhelmed and such couldn’t hide their joy for the testimonies and miracles that greeted the crusade. That was one of the Pentecostal moves in Tiv land after many years,” the source, who attended the crusade hinted this reporter. Another insider further hinted that during the programme, the current Tor Tiv, HRM, Chief James Ayatse was among those who sat under the ministration of God’s servant. “Now, let me shock you. Do you know that the current Tor Tiv was one of the people that attended that crusade? The crusade happened few days to the Tor Tivship election and he was there alongside his wife. In fact, he was recognized during that crusade as Prof James Ayatse when dignitaries were being honoured. “On the day of the election, someone sent SMS to Daddy, informing him that a believer was in the race and was being hindered by some persons. Daddy replied simply: “It is done.” Today, for the first time in Tivland they have a 'true' believer as their traditional ruler. Not just a believer but a Deeper Life member,” the source added. Meanwhile, the ministry had recently empowered residents of Area 1, Abuja as part of its Community Social Responsibilities, where it delivered washing machine, grinding machines and food items to the host community. The ministry also on Christmas Day donated a patrol Van to the Nigeria Police, Durumi Division, Abuja to boost security in the area.
