The skeleton of a man identified as Simeon Mbaana Acka who died in 1968 has been exhumed in Benue State.

IDOMA VOICE gathered that Acka was earlier buried in Ampo cemetery, Gboko in 1968 but his family members today 29 July 2016 exhumed his remains to be reburied at his ancestral home, Mbamar Ugondo, Logo local government area of Benue state.

His family believe he was wrongly buried and thus needed to be taken to his country home and given a befitting burial.

The All Progressives Congress candidate in the February 20 senatorial rerun in Benue South, Daniel Onjeh has bowed to the judgment of the appeal court, which struck out his case on Friday.

Onjeh had approached the appellant court, asking to be declared winner of the election after the tribunal had thrown out his case on the ground that it lacked merit.
However, the appeal court Friday, equally dismissed the case, thus upholding Mark’s election to the National Assembly as the authentic winner of the contest.

Reacting to the court’s verdict, Onjeh said his struggle has ended.

He thanked his followers for keeping faith and believing in his vision.
He said, “The Court of Appeal Makurdi has finally dismissed my petition. The case was not heard on its merit. It held that I filed one day out of time. This brings the struggle to an end.

I shall issue a comprehensive statement to this regard. I thank all who kept faith with the struggle till the end.”

Two persons suspected to be kidnappers were during the weekend set ablaze in Bristow roundabout in Gboko area of Benue state.

It was gathered that three of the suspects were caught by mobs after operation.


Two of them were burnt alive while one was handed over to the police.

Residents of Okpoga in Okpokwu LGA of Benue State have deserted their home over the recent crisis that erupted in the area.

IDOMA VOICE reports that people of Edmoga and Okpoga renewed their hostilities during the week, leading to the death of two in Okpudu-Okpoga by attackers suspected to have come from Oloh community in Edumoga district of okpokwu Local Government.

A commercial driver, Mr. Sylvester John and Mr. Onoja Agbo of Benue Links Okpoga were killed last night in the attack while over ten other persons were injured.

The people of the area have since deserted their homes for fear of being killed.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have reportedly raped a 15-year-old girl to coma in Owukpa, a suburb of Ogbadibo LGA of Benue state.

IDOMA VOICE gathered that the victim, who is said to be a daughter of a certain James Odoh better known as Okito from Efu-Ikeri was on her way to Ankpa from Eche-Ememema Secondary school in Ukalegwu alongside her two other friends when the gunmen accosted them and rapped her repeatedly.

An eyewitness said after the herdsmen were done with her, they abandoned her in the pool of her blood and fled to the bush.

The girl was rescued by a passerby, who took her to a hospital in Aho Ogbo.

No arrest has been made so far.

After two months of endless wait for his return, residents of Otukpa community has discovered the decaying body of the kidnapped vicat general of Catholic Diocese of Otukpo, Rev. Father John Adeyi.

Adeyi was kidnapped on his way to Otukpo, from his country home, Otukpa, Benue state where he has gone to settle a case in the local church.
\His body was found in Otukpa on Wednesday morning.

Pandemonium broke in Makurdi, Benue State capital recently when a commercial bus crushed to death an infant baby over N150 change, injuring the nursing mother in the process.

The luciferious incident, IDOMA VOICE learnt happened along Makurdi-Gboko expressway happened Wednesday at about 9p.m.

The father of the deceased baby who simply gave his name as Senator Anuum narrated that the mother of child had boarded the vehicle, alongside her baby, from the second gate of the Benue State University (BSU) to Coca-Cola junction located along the highway.

Anuum explained that when the mother of the child was about to alight from the vehicle at the junction, she gave the bus conductor N200 and she was supposed to be given a balance of N150 which, the conductor refused.

“The mother and her child, who she carried at her back, were the remaining passengers in the bus. The conductor did not want to give her the change and they drove off, in the process she grabbed the conductor that was already on the moving vehicle, with her baby at the back and she lost balance, fell down and was dragged on the road till the baby fell off from her back, in between the back wheels and was smashed, died instantly and the driver and the conductor drove off,” Anuum said.

It was further gathered that the barbaric act drew the attention of residents and passers-by who thronged to the place to catch a glimpse and rescue the wailing woman. It said the matter has been reported to security agencies.

Efforts to contact the police public relations officer, ASP Moses Yamu failed but a police source said the matter was being investigated to fish out the perpetrators.

A certain Mrs. Charity Aba, who was kidnapped Tuesday night from her home at Oiji Street in Otukpo Benue State, has been killed by her abductors after collecting ransom from her family.

Idoma Voice gathered from a reliable source that Mrs. Aba's remains was dumped by her abductors at the Eupi Enugu roundabout at midnight.

Men of the Nigerian Police Force have since taken possession of the body which is said to be on the way to the mortuary as at the time of filling this report.

An unidentified man was crushed to death along the ever-busy Gboko-Makurdi road in Benue State.

IDOMA VOICE gathered that the fatal accident occurred at Nyambee community in Tarka LGA of the state.
An eyewitness hinted this newspaper that driver of the ill-fated car had a head on collision with a Mac Truck with trying to dodge a pothole. He was crushed to death on the spot.

It took several hours for passersby to dismantle the wrecked car to bring out the victim.
