A middle-aged man suspected escaped being lynched on Sunday in Otukpo area of Benue State after he was caught by residents of Akpachi area of the community.

[url]IDOMA.COM[/url] gathered that the suspect, whose identity was given as Blessing, was apprehended while trying to offer children biscuits, milk, and plastic and canned drinks.

When a resident of the area sighted him and raised alarm, youth of the community descended on him with objects within their reach.

During interrogation, the man, who claimed to be a native of Akwa Ibom State said he lost his way from Port Harcourt where he went for a teaching training.

A resident told IDOMA VOICE that he was eventually freed when the people noticed that he was only mentally unstable.

“I suggested he should be handed over to the police but he was allowed to go free as majority of the people believe that he was insane,” the eyewitness told our reporter.

The senator representing Benue North-East Senatorial Zone, Barnabas Gemade has resumed his sleeping duty on the floor of the senate.

The senator was for the third time caught sleeping in the senate chamber while his other colleagues were busy reading and making corrections on a particular bill on Thursday.

This is coming barely four months after he was caught by the sharp lense of our reporter having a nice time on duty.

Also in 2015, the same legislator was also caught sleeping while on duty in the senate.

A police officer on duty along Aliade-Awajir road has shot and killed a motorcyclist, otherwise known as Okada rider.

The victim identified as Friday was killed for interfering while the officer was allegedly arguing with a fellow Okada rider over N50 bribe.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that the deceased, who came to the scene to maintain peace, got more than he bargained for as the officer reportedly got angry, pulled the trigger and shot him on the forehead. He died on the spot.

The development sparked violence in the area as youths of the community have threatened to set the police station where the officer is attached on fire.

However, Benue State Police PPRO, Moses Yamu said the command was yet to receive the report.

“We have not gotten the report. I will find out and get back to you,” he said.

Two young boys were yesterday gunned down by suspected cultists in Ugbokolo area of Benue State.

The victims, believed to be in their 20s, were killed around 8pm opposite the entrance to the Benue State Polytechnic.

The second victim was identified as Adah, otherwise known as Nature.

A source hinted Dailypost reporter in Ugbokolo that on that fateful night, the victims were with their friends when the gunmen stormed the area, shot them at close range and disappeared.

Stephen, is said to have a barbing saloon in the area which is being operated by the second deceased, Adah.

The development sparked fear among residents of the area, who fled for safety.

The incident is coming barely 24 hours after a suspected armed robber was caught and stripped naked, after a foiled attempt to snatch a motorcycle from a woman in the area.

A 30-year-old Apochi (surname withheld) has died after drinking substance believed to be rat poison in Otukpo area of Benue State.

WWW.IDOMAVOICE.COM exclusively gathered that the victim, who is married with children; had stormed Otukpo, Sunday evening demanding to see some security men, saying that some spirits were frustrating his life.


A family source hinted [url]WWW.IDOMAVOICE.COM[/url] that the dejected-looking Apochi, a native of Ohimini on his arrival in Otukpo demanded to see security men but there was nobody on ground to attend to him.

“He came to our area and said he was looking for security men that some spirits were chasing him. We were wondering what he wanted to do with them. It was that process that he collapsed and we rushed him to a hospital at Upu road in Otukpo where it was discovered that he had taken rat poison. The doctors later found the container of the poisonous substance in his pocket. They gave him oil to dilute the poison but it was too late. He died in the hospital,” an eyewitness told WWW.IDOMAVOICE.COM

However, another insider hinted our reporter that the late Apochi, who is an ardent follower of a popular lawmaker from his constituency did not tell anybody what he that led to the spirits chasing him.

His corpse has since been take back to community for burial.

When this reporter contacted the Benue State PPRO, Moses Yamu Monday morning for comment, he simply said, “I don’t have that report yet.”

The suspected killers of Rev Fr John Adeyi, the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo, Benue State have pleaded with the Benue State government to tamper justice with mercy.

The suspects, who were paraded yesterday, admitted that the cleric did not do anything to them before they killed him, claiming that the he was already destined to die.

The gang leader, Gina was quoted as saying: “He did not do anything to us, and I think his death was destined. We killed him after collecting ransom from his family because vigilante and villagers were closing in on us, so we killed him.

One Daniel (surname hidden), a resident of Ogiri Okoh Street in Otukpo, Benue State was on Wednesday arrested by members of the vigilante from Igbanonmaje for allegedly rapping a minor identified as Eneh (not real name) to coma in the area.

Problem ensued after the sexual intercourse when the girl regained consciousness and could not walk properly due to the magnitude of the pains inflicted in her private part.

When she informed the parents of what Daniel did to her, the men of the vigilante were and alerted and immediacy launched a manhunt on him.

When arrested, Daniel, an Okada rider from Ado LGA of the same state, admitted making attempts to sleep with the girl but realised that the 8 years old minor’s 'honey pot' was too tight for penetration.

He is currently in custody of the vigilantes.

“We will soon hand him over to the police,” one of the vigilante members told IDOMA VOICE in Otukpo on Wednesday.

Benue: ‘if She Touches You, Your Money Will Disappear’ - Woman Beaten To Stupor

A Woman (names withheld), believed to posses spiritual power was nearly beaten to death after she was arrested by youths in Tomayiin Market in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, IDOMA VOICE reports.

According to a citizen reporter, the woman is believed to have spiritual power that whenever she touches anyone, the person’s valuables will disappear.

The source said, “Whenever she sees anyone for the first time she will greet the person by his/her name and relate as if she knew the person before.

“But if she eventually touches you the whole money you have on you will disappear. But however Luck run out on her as she mistakenly touched the wrong Person and she was caught and given the beating of her life by angry mob.”

IDOMA VOICE gathered that the woman was handed over to the Police in Katsina-Ala for further investigations.
