With joy in my heart and with gladness in my mind, I announce to the house that I have finally been given my ticket to book a place on the #TeamWinter2015 BRT Bus cool
O boyh! The wait wasn't easy I tell you.. So this is how it feels to be finally granted visa?
The journey that began in thread 1 and continued to thread 2 has finally come to an end...
I got my DB confirmation last week Wednesday, had done my interview on 6th of July. I couldn't bear the wait any longer and had to send mails to all the e-mails of the alien offices in Hamburg. Alas, an hour thirty minutes later the much awaited e-mail arrived. I couldn't believe my ears nor my eyes. I had to run it through Oye50 to make sure my eyesights were not failing me.

I thank first and foremost the Almighty God, my Oga Eke, my mentor Devmantic, my source of ogbolo inspiration Ahbbiey, our mother Zeeblamj and her namesake ibanj, my realest guyz Dolpaz and Cahnellven, my baddest guy Kennyoguns, my e-fighter Twinkle1 grin , Oye50, Obs3rver, Pompido, Aibee01, Williamso, XpensiveT, mostyg, lmuhopeful, number13, yusufftaiwo, hollaytan, my oga at the top Justwise, my ghost buddy Panzi and his fellow ghost-crew, all our ogas in Germany, Cindino20, styles2009, DANNIEmore, adenjnr, Diamlerbenz, Chief NaijaObi, Nevilbot et al, 2016 visa hopefuls led by the very able hadassaheke and every other person reading this post.

MTN hasn't been cooperating with me since yesterday. Hence why I haven't replied your message on facebook. Congrats to you. I believe in a few years time. ALL of us here will come back to share a testimony of our exploits in Deutschland, the Lord that started this journey with us all is faithful and just to bring us to a much desirable destination. it'll all end in praise. I pray also for everyone that non of us will regret ever embarking on this life changing journey. In Jesus name

Formally I use to see people asking if it's possible for someone from the UK or US to give a sponsorship letter. Well I met someone whose brother used a sponsorship letter from a aunt working in the US ( nurse) in 2009 and he is using the same letter now to apply for his own. So I think there is a possibility, but I will still keep in touch with the guy to know if it works so I can update the house.
Its not impossible but risky. This same question was raised when the representatives came to Goethe Institute. The response was that;
Though the embassy would accept it but the issue is with the Foreign office in Germany, there's alot of confirmation they need to do and all that and at the end of the day they may decide they are not accepting such, therefore rejecting the application at a time when it becomes really late for that semester.

Truly, through Frankfurt there are a lot much more array of cheap options. However, if he looks deep he can also find competitive prices in Stuttgart. For instance, Ethihad flight from Lagos to Stuttgart on 30th of September goes at the rate of $641. it will compete with most cheap options through Frankfurt and less stress of travelling. However, Frankfurt is honestly a very good option.
As at today the official conversion of $641 is #127,599 not including other conversion charges
just to chip something in case the dude wants to take this route, a date just before 30th on Turkish Airlines to the same destination via wakanow cost 124,200; I don't know why I'm advocating for this ppl self. Lol
But I tot it may be helpful anyway. Cheers

Abeg you fit gimme the full details on how to book with wakanow?
The difference with using wakanow has to do with the discount they give. Do you know if there are any negative or positive effects of this discount?

Aibee01 abeg u fit expatiate on nothing being royal about our revered Royal Air Maroc? They land in Berlin which is 2hrs tops from HH by Train. And you can always send your foodstuff in advance to a nice Oga in Germany using NIPOST prior to your arrival, so luggage space shouldn't be much of a worry here but total time of flight. Etihad is quite cheap, but their time of flight is killing, 21hours, while RAM takes APROX. 11hrs to Berlin + 2hrs to HH which is 13 hours.
Obiwannn want finish me o, if I take one orijin self naso my eye go do me like say I don take 1 crate. 10ke, lol.
well b4 I booked using wakanow, I checked NL wella including German thread to be sure there isn't any effect whatsoever, infact, I was so impressed. I remember seeing a post from Nevilbot going to Frankfurt and he booked tru dem, he said no issue at all. Type wakanow on the search space on NL and see what you find. Infact they were calling me like every minute to confirm my booking. I also went to Turkish Airlines Web and I confirmed the booking. So I don't think there's any effect.
Finally if u want book, just go to their site, wakanow.com, follow the steps and choose to pay via bank account, you'll see their accounts their. After u pay, call their customer service, they'll confirm you.

I am wondering why soomeone will refer to Royal Air Morac as Molue ..........so funnny.......If this airline is indeed a molue it will never fly in European sky.......just saying.......If you're on the budget this is the airline to go with....its a government own airline and most of their fleets are Boeing.......I have a friend that use this airline last yr and he said it was a safe and cheap......#Myonecent.
Thats the truth, EU have standards and for any flight to go to any EU soil it must meet these standards. Take for instance Indonesian airline is on a banned list. So anyone saying RAM is a Molue is talking fallacy

Chief, are you saying that on the day you booked for the date you intend to travel, the price on wakanow was cheaper than the price on the airline page? Ermm, and doesnt Turkish and other airlines give you the option to convert the price to Naira so that when you pay you pay the Naira equivalent already converted without the
bank converting it for you?

Royal Air Maroc guy, check the difference in price between RAM and Turk. If e large, abeg use RAM. No one should bother with comfort. Even if person use ship enter Europe via Libya and Italy, as long as you go still enter Germany like those ogas wey use KLM and Luthania, then nothing does you.
I actually wanted to use RAM but they don't allow more than 23kg for economy class but Turkish Airlines allow two 23kg for same class, I think you should confirm that as well cos it's important o. Of what use is it carrying just a few cloths and food at end of the day. Turkish Airlines, I have to pay in dollars, infact the rate I used to compare the price was the official rate, yet wakanow was cheaper. U can do the search yourself and tell us what u come up with.
I paid a total of #124,200 to their GT account yl the official rate on Turkish site was about #128,000 or so. Now imagine paying tru my master card and they charge me like 235# to a $, isn't that long thing

I will like the house to help me to answer this question:which of these options is better in booking an appointment at the german embassy with a sponsorship letter: going to the embassy with relevant documents or sending email to the embassy online. I learnt that it takes more than 2weeks to get a response for appointment date for online(email) route. Pls, I need your response one house
As long as you are booking for a student visa, no one would attend to you at the embassy to book for a date. It's stated on their site that this kind of visa MUST be via email

From experience, wakanow doesn't always have best prices. Newest trick I got? Check the flights on airlines page, do a book on hold (valid for above 24hours) pay cash at an agent (usually at airports or in renowned hotels ).
That may not be entirely true to the best of my knowledge. Comparing the price for the date I chose on Turkish Airlines and on Wakanow.com, there was about 5k difference, thereby making wakanow cheaper. So I don't know how you got that your trick

Guys etihad is not what it may seem. I just bought a ticket for 574USD and I was happy thinking I have purchased a cheap ticket. On receiving the ticket I realized I have been charged 237naira to a USD which I had assumed won't be up to 200 per USD. I used a master card though. Union Bank Mastercard so I cant really tell who is charging me this high whether union bank or etihad airline . I am not sure union bank charge up to 200naira per USD.
why didn't you use wakanow.com, they offer you the chance to pay in Naira. I paid directly to their account and I've been confirmed already on Turkish Airlines. I think others should try booking tru this medium

I'm happy to hear that boss but what I see to this thing is the law of demand. I think the heavy demand of euro at this point is gradually leading to its scarcity hence the higher price. To ppl that haven't done the funding, don't be surprise that other banks won't offer (rates) any better

First you were correct by saying it depends on where you're going, then you went to talk(type) about deceit. Hmmmmm
Anyway, maybe Stuttgart requires 2k to renew, but Kiel where I'm going requires the full 8k. Berlin gives 2yrs straight with 8k, so it's definitely location dependent.
Best thing is to find out from people in your city of intent.

sorry about that, maybe deceit isn't the right word to use but I think in cases like this you should give the entire true info for clarity. Once again I'm sorry

it depends on whr you are going to but basically I don't think you have to show another 8k in your account to renew. I once said this here that I spoke with a student in Stuttgart whr I'm headed and she said you only need about 2k to renew

My form A experience today with Union Bank Festac town, Lagos
Due to delays by GTBank, I decided to switch banks. Got to the Union bank last Tuesday, upon up a savings account and initiated the Form A transaction. Got a debit alert today for the total sum BUT AT A WHOPPING EXCHANGE RATE OF 231.50 NAIRA FOR 1 EURO. I have already placed a call to the officer and he told me politely he doesn't like dealing with official issues after working hours but that he's sure that is the right exchange rate. From experience I am aware that CBN Form A transactions should be treated with the CBN prevailing rate of that day which as at today stood at 219 Naira for 1 Euro.

My question is, for those who have done theirs, how much exchange rate was used for your transaction? I need answers because I am heading right back to the bank 1st thing on Monday for explanations. I need to make a good case that's why I your contribution.
Thank you all in advance.
That amount is outrageous. I'm sure they'll tell you about how difficult it is getting funds from the interbank. Making calculations, we're looking at 1.9M or thereabout. You need to go and complain abeg. That's way too much
but if they've initiated the transfer, I'm afraid there's nothing they can do about it

i saw it but its not in school's letter head. its just a normal pdf that was sent to me before i even applied to the school. i guess i have to write them.
BTW i called Adeola she said there is no forex now and she has no idea when they will have. Bro. you are lucky yours has pulled through.
one thing I understand from the availability of fund is that they get it almost every other week. That's why most transactions rarely go beyond a week (all things been equal). If you're able to convince them well with whatever document you have. If not this week. By Monday or Tuesday, you'll be debited and in less than 24hrs you'll get the DB response.
I think you should follow XpensiveT advice by going to the head office as soon as you can. Demand to see the boss. Explain to him the best way you can, also take along that document you said it's in pdf along. By God's grace, you'll get a favorable response

Yes Crown, I showed a document that indicated that I need to pay about 8k euro into a blocked account and the document was directly from the school. Go to the school's site and you'll see a place talking about visa requirements and all. I'm sure you'll get something there. Print it and add it to your documents.

Guys I think this news published by Punch concerns us here, hence I decided to share it

The Central Bank of Nigeria on Sunday directed all authorised dealers in the foreign exchange to give priority to customers seeking foreign currency for the payment of school fees, students maintenance allowances as well as other business and personal allowances for overseas travels.

The apex bank said this in a statement by the Director, Corporate Communications Department, Alh Muazu Ibrahim.
The bank, in the statement, assured forex users that it would continue to meet their demands so long such demands were for legitimate purposes.
The statement reads in part, “The CBN wishes to inform the general public that all legitimate requests for foreign currency for eligible transactions such as remittances for school fees, student maintenance allowances, Basic Travel Allowance, medical and other eligible transactions shall be fully met at the official/interbank exchange rate.
“Already, all the legitimate demand for such transactions through recognized channels have so far been fully met by the CBN.
“The CBN hereby directs all authorised dealers in foreign exchange in Nigeria to henceforth treat as top priority all legitimate demand for foreign exchange for eligible transactions.”
The bank advised individuals that wished to source foreign currency for such eligible transactions to approach their banks with their legitimate demands as the apex bank had made adequate provisions for all such purposes.
The statement said holders of Naira denominated debit and credit cards would continue to have access to the use of their cards at Automated Teller Machines in any part of the world.
This, it however, added, would be subject to the annual limit of $50,000, noting that ATM withdrawals would continue to be at a maximum of $300 per day

Hello Bro. So I finally did my transaction yesterday. Thank you so much for the info. Can you believe that up to the Branch manager no one was familiar with the blocked account process. Finally i asked them to call Adeola at head office and immediately she was called she asked them to scan my documents to her. Phew! undecided so i am waiting to get an alert. They refused to tell me the exchange rate though. They said the rate for Form A is always different from the one they use for other transactions.
Please how long do you think it will take before the Deutsche bank will receive this money and send the alert to me?
Thank God you finally did it. Adeola told me once they sort out with FX they'll get it done and it's within a week or so. So just relax and you'll be alerted soon. Every other person going to Fidelity Bank, if you can't get to the headquarters, just tell them to call Adeola as Crown did, it'll save u some stress

Seriously, the best place to get your answer is through that same 'confusing DAAD website', everything you need to do to get a school offering your course is there on the site. Just streamline your search well and you'll be amaze. I'm not sure if you can get schools for the winter semester anymore and also not too many English courses are offered in the summer semester. I think you should settle down now and make a thorough search using DAAD and Google. Then confirm the application processes and deadlines. This whole process didn't start over night for most of us here. And try read through the pages of this thread as much as you can. I'm sure you'll smile at the end of the day. Bless you
