No wonder Nigerians abroad dont look forward to going home, without some trepidation.

Life has become meaningless in Nigeria whist politicians are busy looting more and more in order to oppress the electorate who are sheepish enough to continue voting in the same people who impoverish them and make their lives miserable.

Until and unless there is a re-examination of the essence on the Nigerian conglomerate, there can be no progress in that place. It seems to be doomed and god-forsaken. Whilst other nations with less resources are blossoming, the entity called Nigeria is moving in reverse gear and being over-taken.

On my last visit to Nigeria, I spoke with another traveller from somewhere in America and he said "this is my penultimate trip to this god-forsaken place. The final trip is when my mum dies and we have to bury her". Such sentiments, while sounding negative are understandable in the light of everyday life in Nigeria. INSECURTY, DARKNESS, DEATH TRAPS AS ROADS, CORRUPT CULTURE ETC

take dat: As those wey dey abroad dey hustle money send home, na so corrupt politicians dey pack money from home send abroad! grin

That's the irony of it all.

We keep allowing thieves and fraudsters to rule us and waste resources.

Our own legislators are earning upwards of £120,000.00 per month while the average Joe on the street is unable to feed himself.

Politics / Re: Photo Of Nigeria's Leaders: Past And Present. by oyinboaja: 3:25pm On Jun 25, 2013
That is a congregation of the most undesirable people in the history of the world, if viewed objectively.

The fact that they are still able to gather together to congratulate each other on the achievement of impoverishing the Nigerian masses says a lot about our mentality as a people. Other nations have risen up against less vile leaders in order to move their countries forward. We are a complacent and cowardly people who only know how to run around the world seeking places where other people have sacrificed in order to have the good things of life.
Politics / Re: New Break Down Of Nigerian Senators' Salaries And Allawaces by oyinboaja: 3:19pm On Jun 25, 2013
This is absolute madness. In a country where majority of the citizens live in abject penury, the lawmakers are earning £120,000.00 per month.

What kind of people allow that to happen to them?

ade.f:

Yet instances of where couples have been married without knowing each other before their wedding day (in some cases, just a few weeks/months) abound. Take arranged marriages in india, pakistan and some parts of asia for example. people stay together for a long time. because they have no choice, they try to make it work and to a greater extent, suceed. maybe its an overated emotion this love. As with couples that "love" themselves, this emotion like all others, tend to fade. just like u can't be angry all your life, or cry all your life or be happy all your life, you can't love all your life.

How do you account for the fact that even after you are married or going out with a guy/girl, you still meet people that tickle your fancy and would even possibly make better partners or spouses? you make a choice not to pursue such emotions as the end could be disastrous for all concerned.

And before someone interjects saying "but you didnt even have that in a loveless relationship to start with", the answer is they build it as they go along. Maybe not love, but a form of respect that arguably performs the same purpose. Call it "mind over matter" if you will, the end result in both cases, is the same.

Opinions please-----

I absolutely concur with you

stupid brainwashed people think love is what will make a marriage work yet all the ones who supposedly loved before marring are mostly getting divorced whereas those who did not love in the way they want us to believe stay together and make their families work.

The bst thing is to make your wife the boss in your household. Many people in the west will hail you and you will be loved by lots of people in the west.

BUT your marriage is most likely going to end abruptly and quickly grin

I voted for Umar Yar'Adua - PDP, I don't want to waste my vote.

nonsense. there is no such thing as a wasted vote except if you refuse to vote. voting should be about your conscience. I hope you wont complain when the country takes another turn for the worse.

I have said it several times that we are our own worst enemies, yet we keep blaming 'leaders'.

12 years is a lot of years. nigerian women think it doesnt matter but as you both get older you'll realize that it matters more and more. when you get to your prime he would already have begun his downhill descent very fast . but if you are in love i guess our opinion doesnt count anyway.

n.b i wouldn't
