Good evening everyone. I have been a silent reader for about 2 months. DH and I went for our interview today but before I proceed let me give a brief history. DH and I applied for a B1/2 visa in July 2014. Had d interview in September 2014. Was asked if I was pregnant and said NO ( I wasn't). Was asked if I intended to receive medical care over there and said NO. Visa granted, traveled in October for the conference but returned last week of October with a missed period. DH and I felt we could use dsame visa for childbirth. Honestly had no clue about medical visa(thought B1/B2 covered all). Also had no idea about this forum or about a change of intent letter. So, started our search for Dr, hospital, got estimates and paid. FF to POE in May 2015, CBS asked why I was in the US and I innocently declared Childbirth (thought I was good to go) was asked why I lied at interview about d pregnancy (thats when I knew there was trouble) .... But told the CBP that I didn't lie cos I wasn't preggy at the time of interview. Asked if I notified d embassy and said NO cos I had no idea that I was to notify. Asked for my estimates, evidence of payment and Dr's appointment and statement which I showed and was stamped in for 6months (was lucky to have had the documents). Had LO mid June 2015. And left after another one month. Traveled again in Aug 2016 for family vacation with DH and 2 older kids and LO (who was 1 at the time). So visa got expired over a year ago and I am preparing for second missionary journey. That's when I came across this forum and have been reading like I am preparing for my final exams. So, got all my documents ready and nicely arranged (thanks to NL) including zero balances, itemized statements and receipts of payment etc, then scheduled my face interview.(applied for medical visa this time)
FF to today, 7am interview at Lagos.

VO: Good morning

DH: Medical. DW and I are expecting our 4th baby and would like to have the baby in the US for a second time.
VO: Did you say second time?
We: Yes
VO: So, you have had a baby previously in the US?

VO: In your last interview in 2014, you were asked if you were going to seek medical care in the US and you said NO, is that right?
We: Yes, but at that time we weren't seeking medical treatment and we were not pregnant. (told the truth like I did at the POE)

VO: what was your budget at the last childbirth
DH: $7k for d delivery proper but over $11k total (excluding accommodation which was free)
VO: what's the budget for this delivery?
Me: a little above $15k including accommodation, would you like to see our budget sheet?
VO: No, if I need documents, I will let you know
VO: what do you do?
DH: (Bleep) with special interest in (bleep)
DW: (Bleep)... at (bleep)
VO: Okay, your visa has been approved..... Bla bla bla

A formal letter of application

Formal application letter showing the intended date of arrival, your Nigerian passport number, DW passport number, LO yankee passport number, intended POE in Nigeria, Airline, your Nigeria address. The letter should be signed . Scan the letter and attached along with a copy of your Nigerian passport data page, DW's data page, LO's yankee data page and LO's copy of Birth Certificate and send to the NIS e-mail address dedicated for VOA. keep Fit and Stay Blessed.

Remain calm. That is the procedure. Your approval letters will arrive within 48 hrs of your intended departure date as 2 attachments in an e-mail. Download and print same. Take along for your boarding and presentation at POE in Nigeria.

I wrote an application to Nig immigration on VOA, I got a response that says "Received".

Is that the only response i should get or should i expect another with approval?

The received indicates that all requirements have been fulfiled!You should receive a mail with 2 attachments as your VOA approval letter latest within two days of your stated departure date. Download the attached letters and print same to take along for boarding and presentation at your POE in Nigeria.

Madam I know she didn't mean am poor but she was been sarcastic, why would she suggest I go to a free clinic for the poor n co, knowing it will affect my chances of renewing my visa, did I say I don't have money to pay for my bills?, I only wanted a cheaper deal just like everyone else, when I asked for a more affordable doctor/hospital, for example my first missionary mission, I saw much more expensive hospitals and later went with HNWMC, more over I have been doing my research, we are here to help each so I can do my research and still ask for a little help, thanks

Second missionary journey has come to an end, used st Francis LA, was induced 5days after edd it went smooth got freebies from hospital diapers,similac,stroller,pump etc got my zero balance 2 weeks after birth, birth certificate one week after,called to book passport appointment couldn’t get a close date got 3working days to travel date (where my panick started) got passport next day, flew virgin Atlantic on the 7th March bassinet was provided infant ticket cost $317 , they checked in an extra bag for me free of charge , special thanks to ozymes. Anyways still settling in, had my baby circumcision already immunization to follow up ,that’s it guys thanks everyone for your contribution.

Why would you want to wait to fly? Go and cpmplain to the issuing coy to correct it

Hard copy. Yes. The visa will be pasted on your baby's passport visa page. $190 cash payment on arrival if prior payment was not made.

DW has neither gotten an acknowledgement email nor VOA letter up till now. Also, none of the people she knows that applied for VOA last week got any. Why can’t anything work seamlessly in this country? Have you gotten the letter now?

I applied for VOA on Monday and got the acknowledgement on Wednesday.
Yet to get the approval till now though.
Some peeps got their VOAs in 2 days. I wonder what determines the wide discrepancies.

Letter her send again by including your own copy of data page and let see how it goes. Please don't hesitate to resend today. So that by Monday morning it should be acknowledged

My Birth and Passport Story

Baby has arrived...mummy and LO doing well....to God alone be the glory. Admitted on day 1 at 3am, discharged on day 3 at 11am.

Filled the NYC form for the birth certificate on the day I was discharged (day 3)...they said BC would come in the mail within 10 days. DH went to NYC vital stats office with money order and got 2 copies for $15 each plus $2.75 processing fee on day 9....no appointment required....just walk in. Details here:

Made an appointment with NYC passport office on day 9. Earliest slot was day 18...even with expedited travel plans!!! Not sure if you can show up without an interview. Details here:

DH was leaving before day 18, so he notarized the passport parental consent form with a local notary public in NYC.... he just googled notary public closest to us and went there. We didnt get SSN...filled zeros on the passport form and signed a declaration that we have not received SSN.

US passport was ready the following working day (day 21)....picked it up on day 22. Applied for Nigerian passport on day 21...followed the instructions on the immigration website. Credit cards can be used for payment but i bought a money order for $77 and mailed it using FedEx for next-day delivery to Innovate1 Services. Got payment confirmation and acknowledgement on day 22. Went for interview on day 23 for passport on day 25. Details:

Bought Virgin Atlantic infant ticket over the phone...was earlier told in a response to my email to contact my travel agent...another time I called was told I needed to buy at the airport...called again and paid over the phone with a credit card!!! Why are airlines so inconsistent sometimes??!!

Birth certificate; $15 each plus; $2.75 processing fee (money order)
US Passport: $80 plus $25 acceptance fee and $60 expedited fee (money order)
Nigerian Passport: $77 (money order)
Hospital bills still being finalised to reconcile the deposit paid with the actual services enjoyed. Mount S takes 8 to 10 weeks so beware.
