I just want to put this out there for someone earning low and feels quite disadvantaged by default as regards saving from the meagre income. There is always this overwhelming feeling about how much/how long do you have to save to accrue a significant amount.

In the year 2012-2014, I was earning 27k as an M.Sc. holder and still saved enough to live well and eat good, nutritious food .
My personal utilities for my wedding was also from the savings I had from this meagre income.

Now, I save over 80% of my salary monthly. That saving culture didn't jump on me today. It started several years ago when I was earning a meagre sum of 27k, even though I wasn't able to save more than 10% of my income as at then.

The key is living below your means. Do not compare yourself with others. Be grateful for the little you have. These 3keys are ways of life that opens the door to gradual albeit steady abundance; increasing your income and consequently, your ability to save more.

2008, Eco bank shares. No dividends, nothing. As at last check I am not even sure the value of the shares changed. The stock broking firm I even bought from have gone under. We are in the same boat.

Similarities: They are both mutual funds, interest accrued daily which can be paid out or reinvested and are tax free. There is free entry and exit for both. No specific amount or time that regulates your deposit. Any amount anytime can be deposited. They can be operated together.

Differences: Abacus is mmf, while VGIF is in d fixed income category, interest for Abacus is daily valued VGIF interest is benchmark with SDF- standard deposit facility (rate CBN give to banks for their deposit), initial minimum deposit for VGIF is 50k and minimum holding period six months Abacus minimum initial deposit is 1k and holding period 30 days.

This is personal - I operate VGIF for long-term and Abacus for short-term.

Sure, if you opt for it. There is opportunity to give your mandate in that regard whether at the point of opening account or after and it is flexible you can opt in or out. For instance if it's Abacus and you pick reinvest interest by first day of the next quarter your interest is reinvested while for VGIF the interest is reinvested 1st July and 1st January of each year.

Yes. Abacus MMF Aand VGIF are tax free. All your accrued interest gets paid to your account or reinvested if you opt for it. Basically that is one of the upside of mutual funds they are tax free. No WHT.

Gurranteed rate is 8.5% plus 35% of gains of the fund that is not fixed though, but from my experience since 2014 there is always addition to the Gurranteed rate. The capital is secured base on the underlying asset since it's in the fixed income category it's secured as specified and regulated by SEC hence it's different from balance or equity fund which are not secured base on the category such funds belong to.

I have never experienced most of the negative things you stated in your write up even while i lived in Okokomaiko. This country you so detest has been good to me. I guess you are outside Nigeria with the way you alluded to "haunted mansion". The way some of you talk about the lifestyle of Nigerians living in Nigeria amazes me. Many of them are trooping to this country yet many of you are running away. Its a known fact that Nigerians are some of the most unpatriotic people in the world. I respect peoples decision to relocate if they wish to but there is no point rubbishing your country as if there are no success stories there. Come and see what Most Nigerians say about Nigeria to claim assylum in Canada,you will weep for this country. The whites will never respect you.

I started business right from campus,i have never worked for any company. I manage a thriving property company right now and my networth is enough to retire if i wish . No side hussle, no shady dealing. On campus it was all about my ICAN exams, fellowship and classes there was no time for frivolities. I got it right early in life and i wasnt from a rich background,thats a Nigerian story you will not talk about and the CNN will not talk about.

Like a member said here most of the statistics being quoted about Nigeria is related to the north. And i pray one day this entity will split so that those regions that want to develop will develop.

Nigeria is not hell like a lot of you paint it and the western world is not heaven infact the best you will ever be is a second class citizen behind the whites. Recent attitude from racists like Trump should have shown you that there is no other alternative than to make your country work. We just need some little tweaking to get this country roaring, few things needs to be fixed and i believe hope is not lost. My brother who has lived 25 years outside Nigeria is taking up assets here and planning to relocate here pretty soon. Stop putting everybody together, when you are determined to make it you will make it. Irrespective of location.

Logically, since Nigeria earns less USD since the decline in oil revenue and has high demand of USD from Importers, multinationals, businesses operating in Nigeria, it is only a matter of time before the CBN devalues the Naira.

They are Commercial papers, they pay between 6% to 7%. They are from 90 days to 270 days


I think the CFOs of those businesses are using the commercial papers to liquidate their existing loans which are currently between 15% and 18%.


So that they can directly get cheaper funds from the investing public for the running of the businesses. There is so much liquidity in the system

I Will not advice you to buy it, I own a house at ikota villa estate to rent the house out are problem atime, when the tenant move out they leave a lot of damages I Will advice you to go for blocks of flat in mainland.
