You are sure of your trip I believe? If so, book changeable tickets
Hoverboy27:
Just checked BA, they are not offering full refund Incase of cancellation.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by ozymes: 12:54pm On Oct 05, 2020
Why not check if they have any Nigerian bank representative where you can pay in Naira equivalent and your ticket is issued. I actually use BA and the USD equivalent sent to me via e-mail by BA and naira equivalent is paid through GTB and E-ticket issued to me.
Hoverboy27:
Turkish.
Fare is $2,346.
Want to book directly on the website not agent as I might make changes later.

Which airline?
Hoverboy27:
Has anyone recently pursued a flight ticket in another currency eg dollars and paid with their card? If yes, which card?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by ozymes: 11:50am On Aug 29, 2020
Do you have travel history? And if yes does it include the UK?
Rerin:
@safiguy4u, @loyalroyalty can you please help with any other reason I can state in the application which might suffice for applying for 2 or more years? Please note i was given 6months recently but didn't use due to pandemic. My only reason shooting for 2years is it's painful paying another 6months which i did earlier and I intend having multiple entry to visit for vacation and sightseeing. Or rather give me a link I can refer to where they already addressed my type of request as giselle mentioned. I know some people im my category will benefit from this.

This seems strange, why am I saying this? My opinion or experience with them is quite pleasant, I was even assigned an account officer who relates with me as per my investment with them when it is needed
Philantropists:

Good you shared this info so people don't invest with such entities. Imagine giving them your money and they don't reply your calls or mails while you are 8,000 miles away.

Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by ozymes: 10:09pm On Jul 21, 2020
You can apply and state the bolded on your explanation page
Enick:
Good day.

I previously applied for a 6months UK visa in January last year. It was approved and I used it in October for just 10 days trip.

I intend to travel again in January 2021 and I want to apply for a 2 years visa instead of 6months.

It is a better idea to go for a 2years visa or stick with 6months for now? The sole reason for thinking of 2 years is to avoid another stress of the application process if need be to visit within 2 years.

Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ozymes: 2:15pm On Jul 11, 2020
Which institution did you use for the dollar fund please?
freeman67:

I don't know how I will calculate or explain it to you but then let me start this way. For the bond fund I started it as monthly contribution of 90k from end of January 2020 (1st week of February to be precise.) I just paid the 6th one for June last week. What is extra after the sum of my 6 months contribution of 90k is N13,000.

For the Dollar Fund, it is a meager amount of $3,000 that I put there since 1st week of March 2020. The extra on it right now is $69.

Above is why I can't expressly tell you which one has accrued more. My aim was to build that Dollar Fund gradually too but I can't afford at the rate it is being sold now.

Hope he is selling approved standard drugs in that village and doesn't involve in unethical medical practices? Just checking. [q1uote author=arduino post=91567310]
One of my parents tenants from Ebony state hit a goldmine selling simple pharmaceutical drugs in my very remote village which is about 65km from Ekwulobia. The guy drives high end vehicles and has bought and is still buying lands and properties from families willing to sell to him.
His annual rent is just N50,000 for modern standard 3-Bedroom apartment.
NB: He came to my village just two years ago and started a small chemist shop.
Did you say you got the NYSC exemption certificate because did not want to serve?
Barrytone:

I never served, my Dean student affairs begged me to serve but I asked him to give it to those looking for the chance, he sat me down to tell me the merit and I had no excuse I talked to him on the disadvantage of living my village for one year and go get 7k on a strange land. Today, no regrets that I got exemption and rarely look at it as am never looking for a new job, am on my first and only job, when it ends I go home

You gat it! "live below your means" and Want is different from need. So, focus your expense on your needs and not your wants.
4tunebest:
I just want to put this out there for someone earning low and feels quite disadvantaged by default as regards saving from the meagre income. There is always this overwhelming feeling about how much/how long do you have to save to accrue a significant amount.

In the year 2012-2014, I was earning 27k as an M.Sc. holder and still saved enough to live well and eat good, nutritious food grin.
My personal utilities for my wedding was also from the savings I had from this meagre income.

Now, I save over 80% of my salary monthly. That saving culture didn't jump on me today. It started several years ago when I was earning a meagre sum of 27k, even though I wasn't able to save more than 10% of my income as at then.

The key is living below your means. Do not compare yourself with others. Be grateful for the little you have. These 3keys are ways of life that opens the door to gradual albeit steady abundance; increasing your income and consequently, your ability to save more.

Interest is per annum and they are both Tax exempt?
emmasoft:

Similarities: They are both mutual funds, interest accrued daily which can be paid out or reinvested and are tax free. There is free entry and exit for both. No specific amount or time that regulates your deposit. Any amount anytime can be deposited. They can be operated together.

Differences: Abacus is mmf, while VGIF is in d fixed income category, interest for Abacus is daily valued VGIF interest is benchmark with SDF- standard deposit facility (rate CBN give to banks for their deposit), initial minimum deposit for VGIF is 50k and minimum holding period six months Abacus minimum initial deposit is 1k and holding period 30 days.
VGIF 8.5% and Abacus 5%+

This is personal - I operate VGIF for long-term and Abacus for short-term.

Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ozymes: 10:48pm On May 21, 2020
What is the differencies and similarities B/W ABACUS and VGIF?
emmasoft:

Sure, if you opt for it. There is opportunity to give your mandate in that regard whether at the point of opening account or after and it is flexible you can opt in or out. For instance if it's Abacus and you pick reinvest interest by first day of the next quarter your interest is reinvested while for VGIF the interest is reinvested 1st July and 1st January of each year.
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ozymes: 10:27pm On May 21, 2020
Meaning accrued interest can be compounded without delays?
emmasoft:

Yes. Abacus MMF Aand VGIF are tax free. All your accrued interest gets paid to your account or reinvested if you opt for it. Basically that is one of the upside of mutual funds they are tax free. No WHT.
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ozymes: 10:14pm On May 21, 2020
Tax(WHT) exempt?
emmasoft:

Gurranteed rate is 8.5% plus 35% of gains of the fund that is not fixed though, but from my experience since 2014 there is always addition to the Gurranteed rate. The capital is secured base on the underlying asset since it's in the fixed income category it's secured as specified and regulated by SEC hence it's different from balance or equity fund which are not secured base on the category such funds belong to.
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ozymes: 6:50pm On May 21, 2020
What is the guaranteed rate for VGIF? And secured is the invested capital?
