Lithiumite:
I beg to differ, the office of gov is far more powerful than that of SP in a proper federal structure.....just take one instance in the power to issue executive orders, the gov can do that but the SP can only issue others not beyond his chambers......why do you think almed lawan is still gunning for yobe gov'ship.even speakers aren't left out, masari, tambuwal, iheadioha all became govs.
Yes,in terms of issuing executive order as you said, the governor is powerful bcuz he is in the executive arm of government.
But in order of protocol in our country presently, the office of the SENATE PRESIDENT is far higher than the office of the GOVERNOR.
This is how the ranking goes;

The President
The Vice President
THE SENATE PRESIDENT
The Speaker of HoR
The Chief Judge of the Federation .

So, from the above order, the Senate President is the number 3 citizen of Nigeria while the governor is not in anyway near him in ranking.
The governor is only number 1 citizen in a FEDERATING UNIT (state), and not in the FEDERATION.
The governor is only ranked higher than the Speaker of his state HoA and not the Senate president.
The logic behind it is that, the governor is voted into power by only the citizen of 1 state, and he/she represents that 1 state, while the senate president is voted into power by the entire 36 states of the federation through electoral college. Therefore,he represents the entire 36 states and his powers cover the whole Nigeria Federation just like the president UNLIKE the governor that his powers are not beyond his state.
In conclusion, the Senate President has the same range of powers with the President but in different capacity.May I also clarify that the governor is higher than a Senator.Note;I said a senator, not a senate president.
Be reminded that in a presidential system of government such as the one we are practicing here, there are 3 arms of government. The Executive, Legislative and the Judiciary.
The President is only the Head of the executive, the Senate President is the Head of the Legislature, while the Chief Justice is the Head of the Judiciary.
All of them holds equal powers but in different capacity and functions through the principle of separation of powers.
In short, the governor is under the president while the senate president is NOT under the president.

Then as for Lawan and others trying to leave the seat of the senate president for governorship seat,it is either they are ignorant about the scheme of things in the nation or it's their greediness for quest for power, which I strongly believe that it's the latter rather than the former that motivated them to down to those lower positions.
Don't be surprised if you tell some of our senators or ministers I come and take the position of councilor in their ward if there's no chance for them in their present position, they will gladly accept it.
They will accept the councilorship position not bcuz it's higher than the Senatorial or Ministerial positions they were holding before, but bcuz of greed of our politicians and the tendency to sit tied forever in anything call power.
Though, the case of Bello Massari,Aminu Tambuwal,Emeka Ihedioha that you mentioned, they were never heads or the leader of the parliament.
The head or the leader of the parliament/National Assembly is the Senate President.Hence,my emphasis is on the office of the Senate President.

I know this,i was only wondering why someone will leave a bigger office for a smaller one.
No,he is not going for a smaller office.
The office of the Senate President he is fighting for is actually bigger than the office of the governor he is occupying now.
So,he is rather leaving a smaller office to a bigger office.

Living abroad doesn't automatically mean she can quickly raise 50 million naira within 7 days as the supposed kidnapper demanded.

Anty, what those terrorists bast@rd are asking you to present to us as their only demand is not what they are telling the government officials. I know you are speaking under compulsion. But those ediots are liars.
The speaker of Oyo state government has told us exactly what their demands are and that remains the fact.
All what that man said is their normal pattern of ransom.
Money, weapons, means of mobility, prisoners swap, and the okponge of their demand which is even the core essence of them taking up arms against the Nigeria Sovereign State is the "Islamic Republic govern by Sharia law".
So if a high profile government official like the leader of the parliament came out to say this is what they are demanding, then it is what it is and not what they ediots forced you to say,Ma.
It just a pity that FG failed abysmally in the area of security prompting the Islamic terrorists to put you and others in such a precarious situation.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Xenophobia, Illegal immigration: President Ramaphosa's Address To South Africans by Pacesetter123(m): 12:30pm On Jun 08
Is it not the same thing I was saying here that it's an act of lawlessness for the South Africa government to allow the work of implementing immigration laws in the hands of miscreants and touts.
How can a random tout of black South Africans see a fellow black Africans in the street and stop to question him about immigration documents?
What does the person know about such sensitive documents?
What happen to their law enforcement officers?
In most cases,if you don't provide the documents there and then in the street, the mob will gather and torture you to de@th.
I condemned that act here, but one yeye South African in this forum was busy quoting me up and down to talk nonsense.
That the South Africans have the right to check any illegal immigrants.
Is it not the same thing their President is saying now?
He is telling them that it's wrong for a non-state actor to enforce immigration laws.
I don't know whether the person who was arguing with me here last month will also go and argue that with their president.

The only one I may agree with you a little is Germany vs Curacao bcuz the German Machines are known high scoring side I have watched them scored Saudi Arabia 8:0 in 2002 World Cup before. So they can likely break the double digits scoreline.

Politics › Re: Tinubu’s Recruitment Of 1,000 Forest Guards In Oyo Shows Poor Leadership - Obi by Pacesetter123(m): 5:53pm On Jun 07
Mccullum:
Everything is politics for this Peter Obi,

He needs to sit and think on how to criticize ruling party.

Must he criticize everything, if FG didn't recruit forest guards, he'll still talk, they did it for preventive measures against such horrible incidents in order to avoid it.

He's still crying just for being in the news. He's political propagandist.
You don't know anything about policy analysis. That is why you swallow anything this government brings as a policy.

Recruit Forest Guards to do what?
Rescue the kidnapped school children?
With which weapon?
The Islamic terrorists that kidnapped those children in Oyo state are armed to the teeth with assault rifles and other advanced weapons.
So,ask yourself, has the Senate empowered the recruited forest guards to bear arm through legislation?
Is it matchets and hunters dane gun that they will use in fighting terrorists?
Then just as Obi is questioning, there are insecurity in Kebbi,Borno,Zamfara, Kadsitna,Kwara,Imo,Anambra,Ondo,Ekiti, etc, will you also establish Forest Guards in all those states?
Or will it be, each time the terrorists attack and kidnap people in a particular state, you go there and recruit Forest Guards?
What type of reactive approach to a sensitive national issue is this?
I remember in this same country, when there was mass killing in some part of Akwa Ibom,Abia, and Imo state expecially in Orlu zone, the FG deployed jet fighters and battalion of military personnel to bomb those areas and dislodged the miscreants that were responsible for the kidnapping and killing.
So what happen to our military now that the president is rather deploying civilians to go and fight armed terrorists in Oyo?
What happen to Operation Delta Safe,Operation Hadin kai, and Operation Python Dance?
Until we leave sentiment out of national security matters,we remain were we are.
