Even a very strong bullish market will experience the period of price consolidation. USD/Naira pair will trade down to find support at critical price areas before jumping back up again.

Naira could only be termed as appreciating against Dollar if the period of price correction took USD/Naira to breach below critical support areas, for instance if Naira is trading below N1000 per $ for an extended period of time.
