It was before soldiers were killed. People in the community welcome Nigeria army with cultural dance in their townhall meeting. Then army wanted to take away their two chiefs when they were about to leave and people resisted and soldiers opened fire on them killing dozens and wounded many more. It was after army had done these atrocities and left the community that they were waylaid by militants in the water and several of their officers killed.

Nigerian army are no where to be found in this case, but they know their way to Delta state terrorizing the peaceful community there in the name of peacekeeping.

Naira trading at N1602/$ and you call it appreciation. If you know how FX market works you will not call this appreciation. Even a very strong bullish market will experience the period of price consolidation. USD/Naira pair will trade down to find support at critical price areas before jumping back up again.

Naira could only be termed as appreciating against Dollar if the period of price correction took USD/Naira to breach below critical support areas, for instance if Naira is trading below N1000 per $ for an extended period of time.

Otherwise all this is just a mere fluctuation in prices which is common in FX market.
