Some time I use to wonder if Nigeria has been cursed with bad leaders since independence or it is the curse of a particular region (North) that has been pulling the country backward. The northern oligarchs are only interested in power, even at the expense of their own people I.e. alimajiri, and they see anything that is a threat to their dominance in powers as a problem of this country. A legally instituted security outfit like amotekun took a decisive step to contain serious security problems of herdsmen and banditry and saved lives of people, and the only thing the northern oligarchs see is how the operation is being targeted at the North and the warning of reprisal attacks against the southern people living in the north.

But let's face the reality, as a right thinking Nigerian, do you think Nigeria can ever become industrialized with the baggages of the North on its shoulder? There is no way the North will allow a visionary leader from the southern part of the country to stay in power for long and turn around the fortune of this country. And the Northern oligarchs are bereft of ideas of how to move a country like Nigeria forward. They only believe in quota system which is obviously favorable to them, but any ideas of how an intellectually driven country is run are alien to them. Nigeria needs a technology-powered growth to be self reliant, but I don't think the north understands this yet.

This quota system education is not going to get us anywhere.
