You folks should wait and see how an Ijaw man will betray us again and believe me that gathering may have been sponsored by GEJ, when we’ve released a communiqué, he then withdraws leaving us against the north. When shall we learn?

why are u scared of your shadow. . is the north your husband?

must u support them?. . .when was the last time they supported an igbo man to be president?

Power is about bargaining. . .if we can deliver block votes to jonathan. . then we are in a better position to bargain

The last time IBB was there what did he do for the east?
Politics / Re: South-East Leaders Endorse Jonathan For 2011 by paddylo1(m): 9:56pm On Aug 17, 2010
one thing i know sha is that if Jonathan decides to drop out,i will support IBB. . .

However he must do one term and have a technocrat as VP who he will hand over to in 2015. . .

It must be either a south east or south south man. . i dont care

Come on Paddy_lo. those are the lame positions you are talking about. They give igbos those positions of no power and that can change anything to satisfy us. what about  Finance,CBN,FCT,Agric,National planning,NDIC,Chief of Army staff,Petroleum? We always get the same lame positons!why wasnt dora upgraded to one of those positions?

The CBN act states that once a CBN governor has been nominated(for a 5yr term) he cant be removed unless by 2/3rds of the senate. . and house of reps voting to do so
so Sanusi is their for the next 4yrs. . .Jonathan cant just remove him,u have to blame Yaradua for not re-nominating Soludo

We already had Finance during OBJs time,so its ok if it goes to a yoruba man this time

Agric seems to be a northern thing thats why they get it

National planning should have been an igbo man. . true

COAS. . .believe me once Jonathan wins next yr dambazzau will be gone. . so maybe we will get that one

Petroleum is a Niger delta thing. . although we also produce oil. . .

but like i said i believe Barth Nnaji will be minister of power next yr. . he is already in charge of it
its as good as Petroleum
cool

This ministry looks shitty to me. Never heard of this ministry in my life, seriously. Apart from the Info ministry and Aviation others are  counterfeit.

its the same as the ministry of internal affairs we used to have. . its a powerful portfolio. . it infact oversees all internal functions in the country. . .
Heres a news item from todays 234next newspaper

A two-day summit aimed at exploring ways of tackling the growing insecurity in the country is to be declared open by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The summit, to be hosted by the minister of interior, Emmanuel Iheanacho, is to be attended by all relevant security agencies.

A statement by an assistant director in the ministry, Timothy Oyedeji, said the theme of the summit is: ‘The Challenges of Internal Security in 21st Century Nigeria’, and it will hold in Abuja from August 30-31.

Officials and strategists from both public and private sector agencies and organisations including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC), Nigeria Prison Service, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, representatives of state governments, representatives of local governments, chairmen of state traditional rulers councils, licensed private security companies, and neighbourhood watch groups are the expected participants.

Pls i'll appreciate it if you name those 5 ministers or could it be that their portfolios are somewhat irrelevant? And pls what has the Chairman of a party got to do with Jonathan's cabinet. Pls just tell us the real reason why you nwant igbos to support Jonathan. We Igbo must stop fooling ourselves. This is 2010 bro.

Ill try and find it. . .but off the top of my head

I know that the minister of Aviation is igbo(a lady)

Dora is igbo. . minister of information

ill look for the rest and get back to u. . .

why i want igbos to support jonathan is that we can negotiate a better deal with him

I dont trust IBB and frankly this your bottom power politics is a little childish. . so IBB married an igbo woman

are we now the wives of the north?. . .is that what we have been reduced to?

Let us be men and tell IBB/Atiku and co to go and shill

Is it the same IBB that disgraced ebutu ukiwe out of power?

The same north that gave ministry of Finance,CBN,FCT,Agric,National planning,NDIC,Chief of Army staff,Petroleum, to themselves?

The same north that has started to roll tback the reforms that OBJ made in the army

or didnt u hear when Ohaneze petitioned Jonathan about how dambazzau was shortchanging the eastern states during army recruitment

and u think u can trust IBB that smuggled us into the OIC?. . .

what is wrong with us,why are we so short sighted. . .
Politics / Re: South-East Leaders Endorse Jonathan For 2011 by paddylo1(m): 8:34pm On Aug 17, 2010
When will Igbos learn how to play Nigerian politics. Some so called Igbo leaders can't just wake up and adopt someone that has not shown his affinity for the Igbo race. Jonathan has made me start seeing OBG as someone who loves the Igbo race. During his time we had, Dora, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Chukwuma Soludo, Oby Ezekwesili, Frank Nweke etc but if i'm asked to mention the Igbo people in Jonathan's cabinet, the only name that comes to mind is Akunyili. Pls we Igbos must learn how to play our games right. Let's not be fooled by our so-called Ijaw brothers. Even this may sound silly.I'll rather vote an IBB who had an Igbo wife and made Asaba the capital of Delta state than vote a Goodluck Jonathan.

@afam4eva

The igbo names u quote were casualties of yaradua and not jonathan. . ok

Dora is still in the cabinet

Okonjo iweala was, actually replaced by OBJ. . but Yar adua gave the post to his hausa/fulani brethrens

Chukwuma soludo was replaced by Yar adua(very painful),and his post given to mallam sanusi

Frank nweke was replaced by yar adua

and so on. .

In jonathan cabinet u have barth Nnaji as head of the presidential task force on power
I see him becoming the power minister next yr

u have 5ministers from the 5 south eastern states. . i just dont know their portfolios

u have the new comptroller of immigration an igbo lady

onovo is still the IGP

Nwodo is PDP chairman

I smell deceit in your words. I'm not an illiterate or a fool. having discrepancies within a group is normal there is no such thing a follow-follow.Your deceit is not working. It sounds more like you dont want the Igbos to come to a common consensus on voting i.e. for jonathan and not a northerner. You are the same person who was arguing left and right for the power to stay in the north so your claim of innocents has no substance.

dont be too hard on kobojunkie. . many a times he does not remember what he argued for and what he argued against

he just likes to argue. .and most times ends up in knots all over the place like a twisted octopus

Politics / Re: Suddenly Goodluck Jonathan Is A Devil And Ibb/atiku/buhari Are Now Saints! by paddylo1(m): 3:13pm On Aug 17, 2010
Sorry but I think the fact that there doesn't seem any credible and powerful opposition at the moment is not justification for resigning ourselves to a single party federation; I think it is a pretty weak and lame arguement to be honest. Once again we are comfortable with choosing the lesser of two evils instead of advocating a way to actually get a better situation.

Actually if u get my drift i am not suggesting a one party state

cause for the PDP to keep drafting the best from other parties means those parties must exist also

I am kinda proposing to the PDP a way to reform itself

No matter how u look at it AC,ANPP or APGA will never win nationwide elections in Nigeria

so the dominant party has to be reformed from within and without. . .

tell me that u wont vote for ribadu in 2015 if PDP drafts him?

thats what am talking about

yes. . .
Politics / Re: Suddenly Goodluck Jonathan Is A Devil And Ibb/atiku/buhari Are Now Saints! by paddylo1(m): 2:59pm On Aug 17, 2010
YIKES!!! I can't believe anybody would want Nigeria to become a one party state while comfortably hoping that the party would be able to "reform" itself. We need a government that would actually be forced to address the people and their needs by subjecting themselves to the polls with credible opposition in order to enhance the democratic process and make the people heard. I can see a possibly unecessary arguement coming

where is that so-called credible opposition today?. . is it the clueless ANPP the clannish APGA,or the rogue AC led by tinubu(ex fashola who is just a model human being who happens to be in AC)

my reasoning is simple. . Nigeria is too diverse to be having all these regional parties

i only said the PDP as a matter of principle should try and co-opt the best from other parties into it. . .

whats the difference btw political parties in Nigeria anyway?. .

theres no ideological difference.  . .

If fashola is in the PDP and doing well. . it bodes well for the PDP and Nigeria
there will be no need to rig elections,as the person performing will surely be re-elected

thats just my point
Business / Re: Nigeria Exchange Rates To Dollar-history by paddylo1(m): 2:50pm On Aug 17, 2010
Thank you!! So a stronger Naira makes sense since we import still over 90% of that which we need and use in the country. We are no where near where countries like Japan, China, Kuwait etc are.

In the other thread - ->  https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=496778.msg6582475#msg6582475 u were bemoaning the fact that Nigerias foreign reserves are running low

Now u are asking for a stronger Naira

Is it that u are a troll that doesnt understand what u stand for?

or u are an anywhere belle face type, just making noise in all threads with no point. .

Just to be clear to u.  .u can want a stronger naira. . but dont weep about low reserves in the same breadth.cause the reserves is what the CBN uses to defend the naira

U can cliam its ok to import 100% of all our needs. . .but dont come complaining about declining reserves cause it is the reserves the CBN uses to fund imports

u cant have it  both ways. . but of course this will as usual fly way over your head. . . . cool

Ezeuche must be going senile with old age. . cause i dont know what the heck he is rambling about. . .

Like u said we have 6 geo-political zones now. . that benefit the igbos and ijaws and middle belt minorities

and instead he is sounding retarded by asking to go back to 3 regions

which will mean the north will continue to influence the outcome of all elections

right now 4 regions of SS,SE,SW and middle belt can decide who becomes president

which is good for Nigeria. . .and also leads to de-centralization of power

Are you seriously hoping that Nigeria becomes a one party state?
Nothing will ever reform the PDP. The fact that you think people like Peter Obi and Fashola will have the slightest dent on the corruption that permeates that party is enough reason for me to believe you're kinda naive about the heady effect power can have on Nigerians.

Don't get me wrong; i'll probably vote for Jonathan in 2011 (no better choice, doesn't mean he's a saint) but as long as one party continues to utterly dominate, the country will continue to be held hostage to the whims of a corrupt elite.

Theres nothing wrong with a one party state with vision like china. . .singapore. . even South Africa

The key is for PDP to co-opt the best from all other parties into it. . . .

whats wrong with ribadu,el-rufai,Fashola and co being co-opted into the PDP. .

u do know that once Jonathan wins in 2011. . the time of old fools like IBB,BUHARI,ATIKU will be over

so the young ones like ribadu will have to step up in 2015. . .well PDP is the best platform for that
