To buttress the point all raw materials and production is sourced locally and produced here in Nigeria...he ships out his cement to other neighboring countries but because there exist a fierce competition there he has to lower his price or he won't sell a bag. In his closing 2020 report it was quoted he makes up to 55% profit on each cement which means the total production cost TC for each cement is way less than #1000..The way forward is to grant exporters access to FX to import as there are more cheaper and reliable products but the problem is the high FX. cement is between 40- 45 codes in Ghana with our high exchange rate we can buy here 2500 to 3000 highest and there are far cheaper products in the world market. Why will we now buy a local products produced 100% in Nigeria costlier than imported ones and this same PRODUCT coupled with its shipping cost sold less in other countries...Dangote and his cronnies are simply opportunists taking full advantage of our useless government and its shitty policy.

The reason why they accuse him is that he Dangote holds a larger share of the market he can dump the price and others will follow.

Based on his economy of scale, which means it is cheaper for him to produce more, he is the one that can bring down or increase the price of cement in Nigeria. I.M.O he is rightly being accused, especially when he is selling the same cement in another country for more than half the price.

Okay I will, there is a type of monopoly known as joint or collusive monopoly, this exist where major players of an industry come together to dominate a market, they set prices.
Of course we know the two ways to control the market is either by controlling price or supply. Which ever one they choose to control is depending on the elasticity, (which is very inelastic) of the market.

So dangote is a Monopoly in the cement industry, he with other firms in the industry come together to set price of their goods... So as to maximise their profit. Why do you think they are al selling at almost the same price. None of them can crash the market, if they try it they will be dealt with through market policies or government policies, since the price is making them more profit, no one is willing to break the pact.

The only way to break the monopoly is government policy.


Ask yourself, who sets the price of cement, why does it go up without provocation

This is why America, will use all its political might to fight Monopoly... It's in their constitution to crush anyone or anywhere it finds monopoly.
