In a wide-ranging interview to be broadcast on Sunday 4 September [2022], Mrs Zelenska was asked what message she had for British people who are facing soaring energy bills in part due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the impact that has had on global gas and oil prices.

"I understand the situation is very tough. But let me recall that at the time of the Covid-19 epidemic, and it's still with us, when there were price hikes, Ukraine was affected as well.

"The prices are going up in Ukraine as well. But in addition our people get killed.

"So when you start counting pennies on your bank account or in your pocket, we do the same and count our casualties," she said.
Mrs Zelenska's comments follow Prime Minister Boris Johnson's suggestion while visiting Kyiv last month that households across Europe would have to endure the cost of living crisis and "stay the course" with Ukraine to counter Russia's aggression.

In the UK, the inflation rate is forecast to hit a 42-year high of 13.3% this year, while the economy is expected to shrink for more than a year.

'Semi fascism' comment draws ire, but White House won't back down
The movement toward Trump by Graham and other Republicans whom Biden has known well for years has disappointed and unsettled Biden more than most dynamics in Washington.
A senior adviser said Biden "goes darkest" when he sees former establishment Republicans "behave badly" and associate themselves with the worst elements of Trump's political brand.
The newly aggressive rhetoric has drawn howls of protest from Republicans. When he accused followers of Trump of "semi-fascism" at a fundraiser last week, the response was swift.

We know full well that close to 30 million Soviet citizens were isolated and eliminated in the Gulags or concentration camps by the Soviet communist leadership.

the rape of nanking was one of the worst atrocities committed against humanity no doubt about that. But At least Japanese were charged with war crimes and executed after the war.

Do you also know that during the occupation of Germany US, soviets and British soldiers raped about 190 thousand German women between the ages of 14 and 65 years. Young German boys trying to protect their mothers and sisters from being raped where shot and killed right in front of their mothers.

It should also be noted that an estimate of about 700 thousand German civilians were killed by US and soviet troops during the invasion of Germany? but US, British and soviet soldiers did not face charges of war crimes for this after the war, can I please ask why?

In late 1937, over a period of six weeks, Imperial Japanese Army forces brutally murdered hundreds of thousands of people–including both soldiers and civilians–in the Chinese city of Nanking (or Nanjing). The horrific events are known as the Nanking Massacre or the Rape of Nanking, as between 20,000 and 80,000 women were sexually assaulted. Nanking, then the capital of Nationalist China, was left in ruins, and it would take decades for the city and its citizens to recover from the savage attacks.

Anger over the events at Nanking continues to color Sino-Japanese relations to this day.

Kenya Elections 2022: Raila Odinga and William Ruto in tight race for president

Polls are now officially closed but voting has been extended in places which opened late.

This vote follows an intense campaign dominated by debates about living costs, unemployment and corruption.

The frontrunners for president are ex-Prime Minister Raila Odinga and current Deputy President William Ruto.

Kenyans were also electing a new parliament and local administrations.

The electoral commission is yet to announce the total turnout, but by 16:00 (13:00 GMT) - an hour before pols closed - just over 56% of the 22 million registered voters had cast their vote.

This election looks like it will be a tight race between frontrunners Mr Odinga, 77, and Mr Ruto, 55.

Mr Odinga - a long-serving opposition leader, nicknamed Baba ("father" by his supporters, is running for president for a fifth time. Mr Ruto, who has tried to emphasise his connection with ordinary Kenyans by calling himself a "hustler", is taking his first stab at the presidency.

Two other candidates - David Mwaure and George Wajackoya - are also in the race.

To win the presidential race in the first round, a candidate needs:

more than half of all the votes cast across the country
at least 25% of the votes cast in a minimum of 24 counties.
After counting the votes, officials will then take a photo of the final tally and send the image to both the constituency and national tallying centres.

To ensure transparency the media, political parties and civil society groups have been urged to run their own tallies using final results declared at the more than 40,000 polling stations.

But only the electoral commission can declare the winner of the presidential election after verifying the physical and digital forms sent to the national .
