The same army that has been finding it extremely difficult dealing with Boko haram.

SaharaReporters just learned that Nigerian soldiers may have killed a wife and a son of Nigeria’s foremost Shiite leader, Sheik Ibraheem Zakzaky, in an ongoing military operation against the sect in Zaria, Kaduna State. Ibrahim Musa, President of the Media Forum of Islamic Movement of Nigeria, disclosed the killings in a statement released today. SaharaReporters was unable to independently confirm the news and a conversation with one of his sons who didn't want to be named shows the Shia Sheik and his wife are still alive.

Mr. Musa also claimed that the military destroyed the sect’s headquarters as well as the residence of the Shiite leader. According to him, Sheik Zakzaky’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Mr. Musa and another member of the sect, who spoke on condition of anonymity, declared that Nigerian troops were engaged in indiscriminate killing of members of the Islamic sect, with its headquarters in Zaria. They stated that soldiers had killed some prominent members of the Shiite sect as well as followers. Among the reported casualties were the leader of the group’s Kano Center, Sheikh Muhammad Turi, Mustapha Sa’eed, Ibrahim Usman, and a major female member, Jummai Gilima.

According to Mr. Musa’s statement, “The sporadic killings took place at three different locations that include the residence of the revered leader of the Movement at Gyallesu, the Husainiyya Bakiyatullah at the GRA and the Darur Rahma located along Zaria-Jos Road where many [unarmed] people were killed.

“The killing was so brutal at Gyallesu that even those injured in the shooting were identified and killed in cold blood by the soldiers. And as at the time of writing this press release, the victims run into their hundreds, if not thousands.

“Considering the gross violation of fundamental human rights and extra-judicial killings perpetrated by the Nigerian Army, the Islamic Movement hereby condemns these unjustifiable acts.”

I have been following what is going on in the country since the election of President Mohammadu Buhari.
I was one of those who stood, wrote and criticised the profligate government of Goodluck Jonathan.
I must confess I have no regret!
The new revelations of the deep corruption and the sheer disregard for Nigerian lives of that government cannot be forgotten in a hurry.
But I must point out to this present government once again, that Nigerians are the easiest to govern.
All they need is good roads, constant electricity, and a very favourable environment to create jobs and wealth.
A task which is easy for other countries but mountainous for us.
President Buhari is trying his best to fulfil the promise of fighting corruption, no one can fault that, but fighting corruption of the past alone is tantamount to witch-hunt. What about the corruption that is presently going on under his nose.
The one being perpetrated his party members?
Fighting corruption and neglecting other areas of government is madness at best.
The naira has just plummeted to N260 to a dollar, a 42 years record low.
The investors are running out of Nigeria.
The same international media that were praising his emergence has now turned to his critic and it seems our president his not perturbed.
The ministers have emerged but they have all gone to sleep except Fashola that just came out to show us his road map.
The country is going down and we all must cry out as we did under Jonathan.
If a driver of the bus is falling asleep on the wheel and we don't want to talk because we fear to be termed as the enemy of the driver, we should not be surprised eventually if we find ourselves in the ravine.
President Buhari should immediately leave the globe trotting, image making and all the attendance of functions to the vice president Osinbajo, while he starts tasking all the people he appointed to bring out their best.
A Nigerian president of today is vastly different from the one of the 80s.
He must be a multi-tasker, not a man with tunnel vision.
The only thing we are hearing now is all the billions stolen by the previous government and it seems everyone focus, is on that!
What is going on in the economy?
Why is Fuel not available nationwide?
Why is Naira going the way of the Zimbabwe dollars?
What is going on in the area of Agriculture?
Why is power blackouts going back to the times of Jonathan?
What has happened to the refinery?
These are questions begging for genuine answers and not the propaganda being fed to us by the media advisers.
Abeg, PMB, please rise to the occasion, I am one of those people praying for your success, but we all know Faith without work is dead.
Please do the work you are elected to do.
