Roland17: A healthy Liverpool that played a 4-3-3 formation against City showed that they can cause City problems with results in the league and UCL last season. Same can be said of Leicester City in 2020. A loaded midfield with a pacy attack has always caused City problems. Yeah they can cause them problems but they will have to do it with high intensity through out 90 minutes.. |

Roland17: Excellent analysis, but from the picture, a 4-3-3 with a good passing midfielder and pacy attack will catch them out of position which will force the full backs who become inverted midfielders to stay away from the middle. The only team that plays a 4-3-3 with pacy attack in England is Liverpool and they lost badly to City, even if Manchester city did lose a game it won't be as a result of Pep being tactically outclassed it will be as a result of suspension, their levels dropping or complacent. Maybe in Europe they can meet their match but not in England. |

nitrogen: You still don’t get it. I already said that one of the CBs step up to to support Rodri when they are caught out on the break. Nitrogen is right Here is a visual presentation of Manchester City´s recent 2-3-5 system emphasises in their positional attacks. But the Full backs invert rather than the Cb coming out to support the CDM. Wingers keep the width of the pitch and whatever position they are on the pitch they will have numerical advantage and can create overloads 2v1, 3v2 easily because of their positioning. It's almost impossible for them to get caught on the counter or out of position.

eph12: Actually, I don't see how its any of those 2 fault. VDB has to do more than running into the box and playing those short, safe passes you accuse McFred of That's unfair criticism VDB isn't Bruno he is a different player and his strengths are; link up play, short passes and goal predator in the box. People make this unfair assertion that VDB is suppose to do a Bruno ( play line breaking passes and long passes into the box) VDB isn't that player. Unfortunately the only person that has scouted and watched VDB extensively on this thread is Kagawa and Afrodoc2 to less degree. Kagawa listed his qualities as far back as 2018 and analayzed what he does best. If Amaka can't find a system or adjust his system to suit VDB when he plays that's Amaka's fault. He should find another creative player to provide such creativity unfortunately Mcfred can't provide that. |

Leyqute: I actually have no qualms about how much Greenwood is earning now. I think it’s a really good deal.
The contract will be due for renewal in 2026- when he’s 24 years old. Paying him that much around that age (23, 24) if he becomes phenomenal is a good deal for the club.
I’m guessing we’ll renew the deal before then sha. Cos Greenwood has a huge potential. Hopefully Greenwood lives up to his potential and hype. |

As regards the contract offer, if Greenwood plays to his potential, scoring goals every week and by 2022 Madrid or Barcelona come knocking, trust me the club will immediately renegotiate that deal. If you earn 1M in a job aren't qualified for trust me you will work hard cos if your company hires someone with that skill set trust me they will fire you straight up. If Greenwood starts to live up to his potential isn't that good? Trust me Greenwood is English, born and bred in Manchester just like Rashford the guy won't leave. |

If at 20 we are offering him 75k then by 2022 or thereabout, he will prolly be on 150-200k and by 27, he might be demanding 350k based on performance...
It's this crazy pay that makes some player think they're at elite level when they're actually shit...
Just look at Martial playing nonsense but earning the salary of Harry Kane level strikers... You know it's a 5 years contract right? And United don't start another contract negotiations until the player is in the final years of their current contract. Martial is playing nonsense because there is no competition it has nothing to with the wages. Finally if Spurs can't pay Harry kane more than Martial that's Spurs problem not United. |

Leyqute: Same feeling here. I want to believe the contract situation plus his off-field issues are the reasons for his decline in form.
Hoping to see him tearing up the scene soon.
P.S: There is a growing debate on his new contract- about the 75k per week he’ll be getting for the next 5 years. Some people say it’s too much. What are your views on that? 75K isn't outrageous for 19 year old it's just more than average, even Brandon Williams earns 75k. United generate a lot of revenue so it's normal we pay more than average as expected. I think we should stop using other clubs as criteria as to what we pay players, like I said it's not outrageous it's just more than average. Our wage structure is fairly balance, De gea earns 375k but he was given that contract he did deserve it but drop in form is making people question his wages now. |

You are right about those 2 areas he needs to improve on, especially heading the ball. I think his movement is still manageable and would only improve the more he plays as CF and trains with a movement sith like Cavani. I hope this new contract serves as motivation and he starts scoring goals soon. |

He will turn 20 next season and we should start finding out whether he is the real deal now. Martial and Rashford should fight it out for LW while Amad and someone else fight it out for the RW. Agreed 100% Ole said he is the best finisher in the club last season, Martial's time as a striker is over, Greenwood just needs to add heading to his game and movement in the box. |

MRTA7: Because Ole cant teach Rashford doesnt mean it cant be taught. Rashford may have just not found the right teacher. Rashford has not found the right teacher lmao, Rashford has played with good strikers like Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Kane, Cavani even Lukaku to a large degree and he can't learn 1 or 2 about finishing from them. Maybe you should blame the child this time rather than the teacher. The only solution is for United to keep creating more quality chances in games in order to mitigate the effect of missing chances. |

Leyqute: Finishing cannot be taught outrightky but it can be improved upon. If you practice your movement and finishing from some positions often enough you’ll score lots of goals. It becomes second nature to you.
And Ole hasn’t been in charge for 3 years. It’s just been a little over 2 years since he got here. Let's hope he works and improve on his finishing. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Panther7(m): 11:41am On Feb 17, 2021 |
Leyqute: It can be taught. Or better put, it can be imprinted on you. If you repeat a sequence of action enough times that it becomes second nature to you.
When Ronaldo 7 gets into certain positions you know how he’s going to execute his finish and he almost always hits the target- that’s if it doesn’t go in. Same with Messi and chipping the GK. Those skills were perfected. You can't use Messi and Ronaldo as examples these guys are Exceptional footballers. If finishing can be taught Ole (Ole was a striker) would have taught Rashford how to finish, he has been in charge for 3 years and Rashford is still learning movement in the box and how to finish. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Panther7(m): 11:16am On Feb 17, 2021 |
Leyqute: I’m certain Rashford cannot score the first goal. It requires a mixture of precise dribbling ability, deft movement and a perfect finish with his weaker foot. And a lot of composure for the finish. Rashford doesn’t have all those in abundance.
The second was a left footed finish into an empty net. Rashford is not that bad with his left foot so there’s more chance of him burying that one than losing it.
The third goal looks simple but the shot is hard to execute. Mbappe went for both power and placement. He put it in a place that will be hard for the keeper to get to. And it was pretty fast too.
Rashford would most likely go solely for power. And he’d try to target the second post - if he went for any placement at all. I bet he’d hit it straight at the goalkeeper. Or over the bar. It’s is quite likely that he’ll hesitate about a second whilst he contemplated dribbling a defender before hitting it. There’s a slim chance of him burying that than of him scoring it.
That’s how horrible he’s become when it comes to finishing chances. Olé is a striker. He should know these things. He should be telling them that the most important thing is the finishing. The final ball. If you dribble well but lose the ball at the end you’re not different from someone who is passing to the Opponent I don't believe finishing is a thing that can be taught it's either you have it or you don't. Players can be taught how to get into good postion or create chances but finishing is more of instinct. Try and imagine yourself as a striker in a goal scoring position your mind might have that perfect picture but your body can't do it. |

afrodoc2: Puigmal is the victim of indigene bias. Garner, Gomes, Levitt, Puigmal, Galbraith were all jostling for midfield positions from Under-18.
The first 3 as the stars of Under-16 were given priority for the 3 slots in midfield while Puigmal was shuffled around as RB, RM, super sub. They didn't give him an extended run in midfield as those guys were the golden boys from way back.
Galbraith being a little younger was able to become the midfield boss of the Under-18 when those 4 left. So finally he too got an extended run in midfield. The current situation is that they are reluctant to give Puigmal extended minutes as it is now understood that he will be leaving in the summer so they want to give those developmental minutes to people like Mejbri and Shoretire that are locked in for the next few years.
Talking about Shoretire i have given up on them slowing him down. It is obvious they want to promote him by fire by force. He played UEFA Under-19 when he was 14yrs old playing against people 4-5 yrs older than him. I would prefer they manage him with more caution but i don't think that is going to happen, and to be fair they have some good reasons for not doing that.
The last time he played in his own age group was Under-15 as a no10 and he scored 60 goals. Prior to that as a striker he scored 100 goals over 2 seasons. I don't know what the ceiling is for him but over the last month it is starting to look like he is finding Reserve football a little easy. Some more reserve football next season and the occasional first team appearance would be good for him. Let's see how it goes with Shoretire, promoting him to the first team might make him or break, as long as Ole is in charge he will shield him from the spot light. Maybe the idea Is to have him learn from the big boys rather than play him. Too many talent coming from the youth team no be all of them go break into the first team 2 or 3 players is enough and the rest should be released in order not to stall their progress or the development of other players coming through. |

afrodoc2: You are correct, he has great potential. However we have not seen enough of Amad to really assess how good he is.
Elanga has stepped up his training after collarbone injury but is probably still 3-4 weeks away. He surely would have been training with the first team as well if not for the unfortunate injury.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Amad RWF, Elanga LWF, Mason CF with Shoretire and Hannibal in midfield behind them. It could work in a league cup game against lower league opposition. Another player I don't want to see go is Puigmal, his contract comes an end this summer, that guy sef sabi but the coaches in the Youth haven't really helped him that much just shuffling him around the pitch. Don't you think Shoretire acceleration into the team is a bit too forward? I know the guy is good but physicality and all, that's too much pressure for the guy. Hannibal will definitely do well in the first team can offer more than Mata and James. |

I don't care if he posts 25 goals and 30 assists per season, if the team is going to be effective, then we need to avoid playing Fred and McTom, they are only good for counterattacks. It does not make sense, especially when the two of them are not good going forward (re: passing ability), we need a proper CM to play with Bruno, and based on what we have, Pogba and maybe VDB can fill the slot. The jabs wasn't aimed at you boss, I agree with everything you said, I don't rate Mcfred although I won't deny Mctominay incredible form it's not just good enough, Fred apart from energy is all the bad words you can think of. Pogba is good enough to play CM role effectively but he needs a good DM and not worry too much about defensive responsibility. |

Bruno passing is the same even with Portugal. That's just how he plays. Even in the scouting report before United bought Bruno his passing stats and how poor they were was highlighted. A Midfielder that can't pass is useless. I said Forwards Rashford 9 Martial 8 Cavani 6 23 Big chances missed |

Trevor012: I have analyzed all of Bruno assists here and they are either sideways passes or from set pieces. Our forwards are not enjoying anything from having Bruno in the team. What about our forwards missing the highest number of big chances and Bruno responsible for creating more than half of them, Rashford missing one on one like no tomorrow. I share your sentiment about Bruno's passing accuracy sometimes the passes are rushed and sloppy but this isn't helped by lack of movement and poor coaching. Trust me bruno in a well coached team with good positional discipline and awareness will reduce most of the sloppy passes you are seeing. Watch Bruno when he plays for Portugal, his passes aren't that sloppy compared with United cos Portugal well coached and everyone know their position on the pitch not in United where Maguire is playing LW. |
