@godsamist: age as in number of years. The car doesn't smoke nor consume oil. Just the normal vapour in the morning when it's warming up.

@gazzuz: jo, I will like to know more about using the heavier oil. The car doesn't burn oil. I can't remember if I noticed the rattling before I decided to use the 5w20.

My mechanic advised me to stop using manufacturer recommended oil due to the age of the car.

Its a honda EOD 2003 Model, four cylinder, automatic transmission.

He prefers the Mobil xhp instead of the recommended 5w20.

Pls, what do you advise? The engine still responds very well. The only snag is that it rattles/pings when I depress the throttle from gear 1 to 2 and 3. I don't mind if you can recommend a good mech around Ikeja axis.
