beebee5000: Finally in Deutschland, wishing everyone here waiting for visa, admission speed in receiving their good news. Please let's refrain from insulting each other. You can deploy diplomatic tactics to reply someone who's trying to bully you. Please everybody drop the hatchet. *********White flag flying************ First time I came to germany via Frankfurt I was impressed with the immigration officials, today via Nürnberg they were still efficient just like last year. it breaks my heart when i see people derailing this thread by trying to flaunt their vain pride, make unnecessary jest, discourage people or kill people's morale rather than render help or answer their innoccent questions. most of the culprit, on this wise, have been people who have at one time or the other benefitted from the effort of great heroes who has graced this thread in times past and present. may i say iz high time we moved on from the distarction brought by eke, as he himself has already moved on. lets ignore whichever unseriousness that ferdimakor may have manifested or will likely later manifest. those of us who have gotten their visa should be our leader in this room and not our masters. i reeally apprec8 the e4t of our bro who are already in germo for their help. beebee, bissi, dolpaz, naijaobi, nimakor, eke, ferdii and the rest are all well recognised...thanks ..............................#team~winter...... |

damilola15: I spent the night reading from page 296 (recovery point) to 338, I would use my next free time to read some more of the older pages. Anyway I was able to make some deductions and I would be glad to get responses but please go easy on me if these are repeated questions.
1. The German Embassy's website states that "In order to obtain an appointment for submission of your visa application, you are requested to send scans of your admission letter, proof of financial means as well as your passport data page", but after partially going through the thread, I discovered that people first apply for the blocked account and then use it to book an appointment (I'm guessing) thereby not needing the 'proof of financial means'. Is my assumption right?
2. After sending the form to Deutsche Bank, which I've read takes about 4 weeks for the account to be opened, which information do you use to book an appointment (if 1. is right). As in, do you get any confirmation page when you fill the online form which you can then use to book the appointment whilst your account is being processed?
3. Do pick the 'Visa Application Forms (Application for a Residence Permit)' from the embassy?
Thanks guys. 1. proof of financial means is always needed. sntimes opening of blocked account by the bank is as early as a week after submission of the form. the embassy will give you a slip after the submission of your blocked account form. 2. when you open your blocked account, you will be given a slip...... you can use that slip to book for your visa interview appointment......but know that your visa will not be giiven to u, even if it has been approved, until you have funded the account. 3 you download it from the consulate's website |

JewelStone: Hi guys,
Please I need a little help. I'm applying for short stay German visa. I'm going for tourism, my interview is next week.
I'm meant to fill an online form called 'Videx', and I'm having challenges with this form. Some options are not highlighting, and it's also asking for bar code. When I tried printing, only the first page came out.
If there's anyone that has experience with this form, kindly help me out. check if you set the printer to A4 before you printed it.....i mean on that display, after you press cntrl P, where you select printer, indicate copies etc ensure it is set to A4.... |

tmed1: Alright, let me give you my own experience at the German Embassy then:
I got to the embassy as early as I could on the 28th of August 2013. I gave all my documents to the guy at the reception. I had already prepared for the interview by reading past experiences of interview on Nairaland and going to my University's website to learn more about my course information and curriculum. I waited at the reception. By the way, I was waiting in the reception with some other guys and girls(some of them were also members of Nairaland).
At this moment, I was praying silently to God so that I would not be interviewed by the old woman, considering the negative responses I had heard about her on Nairaland. Shortly after, an old woman came downstairs to the reception and said "who is Mr......?" My fear had become reality. She said I should come along with her. I suddenly re-gained my confidence. It didn't matter to me anymore who will conduct the interview. After all, I was prepared.
I started walking "swaggerly" up the stairs even ahead of her . We got to her office and she asked me to have a seat. Then I mistakenly went over to sit at her own seat instead of the interviewee's seat. Then she shouted, raising her two hands towards me, "what are you doing? I said you should sit here!" Then I laughed softly and said "Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry. I thought you asked me to sit here" Anyway, she started asking me some few questions about my family. It didn't even occur to me that the Interview had started until I saw her writing my answers on her computer.
She asked me if I understood German...(I said No but I was willing to learn when I got to Germany) She asked me how I knew about the school Who is my sponsor?...(I said my father) How many children did my father give birth to? What does my father do for a living? What have I been doing after I left school? What do you know about Germany...(Then I told her the numbers of states that Germany have and the countries it shares border with) Then She asked me to mention them She also asked me the name of the city where I am going to study? Then she asked me the name of the capital of Germany She asked me what I am going to study?...(I said International Relations) Then asked me, "what do you know about politics" (Then I started lecturing her on the political system of Germany ) She interrupted and asked me about the structure of the Program and the curriculum...(Then I started explaining in detail) Then she again interrupted me and said "Just summarize it!" Up to this stage, the interview was going well until she asked me one last question She asked me "who is the current Minister of Foreign Affairs in Nigeria?" ...Then I told her, I don't know Then she said "What! You want to study International Relations and you don't know who the Foreign Minister is?...(I replied again, that I really don't know)
There was a moment of silence. Then, she started bringing out some papers from her drawer. My heart began to beat very fast. I thought she was about to give me an exam to write. After about 5 Minutes of her looking at some papers. She told me the interview was over and that she will contact when she gets the necessary response.
27 days later, I got a message from the embassy to come with my passport and a 3 month travel health insurance.
I hope this helps |

bissiejoe: I had my interview on the 13th of june, though I had already seen my bank account details before going for the interview, Old mama just told me to fund the account and sent the confirmation to the embassy. I didn't fund the account until last week and got confirmation from DB on friday. I sent the confirmation to the embassy immediately on friday and yesterday I got a response that the confirmation have been sent to the alien authority in germany for final consent. This morning, I was mailed by the embassy to come with three month travel insurance and my passport. Bethiano: HELLO EVERY ONE
well i feel i will be doing a great disservice to the good people who i have gained from, visiting this page. i have been a regular visitor, gained so much, and i think its right to share.
LESSONS FOR STARTERS
1. i agree with everyone here on the need to read from page 1 to the end. you must do this, and please get a note book and a pen to take notes on some vital points. yeah i understand its difficult, but trust me ITS WORTH IT. Another way is this read like 1-60, jump to 100-160 then 200-260 most importantly 280 -this page covers the testimonies of 2014 applicants.......
2. learn to take notes and be mindful of a few misguided infos.
3. now, your application can be as cost effective as possible. i advice you use uni-assist but if you dont have the money , u must diligently search for schools that are not registered with uni-assist (note: most schools are)
4. to send your documents , asides DHL, UPS , FEDEX you can use NIPOST. as against the general opinions here, ppl have advised to ignore NIPOST. yes i understand their stands but the truth is NIPOST works and works well, but you must take this WARNING.... it takes 2weeks to get ur parcel to germany using NIPOST and the fee is less than 1000 naira, and make sure you use the REGISTERED MAIL option . i advise you give enough time to the deadline, for me i sent my applications three weeks or more to the deadlines.
5. that you have a second class lower is not a barrier, all you need is a little more determination.
6.make sure your motivational letter is good, gracious God i have great skills in M-letter.
7. please respect the views of those who have had success here........
my testimony, i got admission in Two high ranking universities in Germany, university of freiburg and university of druisburg-essen
please note that what i have shared here, is only a cost effective approach to make successful applications against all odds. |

segadebayo: All ye worried about life in germany, this is a post from someone in germany last year
"guy relax.even with 6o euro u can survive monthly.more over u think u will have time for 3 square mill?food is the cheapest thing here.except u cant cook in your hostel.the most expensive thing here is accomodation not food.full chicken(superhunn)is 2 euro=420.rice sef no reach 1 euro here. if ur garri fininsh just go aldi or markauf ask of grease na 25 cent just by 4 if u like swallow that still 1 euro.food is cheap here my man. the only issue is there education is intensive, and u need alot of self study.so u guys shouldnt worry about surviving.
alles kla"
what you should be bothered about is been excellent in your studies |

dolpaz: Bros, According to one of our guys who is already in germany, Emeka..its advisable to buy your stuffs from Nigeria. Jeans and clothes are expensive. most especially phones and gadget. mind you, the prices will be in euros. also, go with alot of shoes cos according to him, there are no cobbler in germany. shoes and winter jacket are expensive as well. i think around 50-70 euros. so imagine spending 12,000 naira to buy a single jacket when u can get it for less at yaba or idumota.
Go with enough Garri and some food items as well. though i heard some kenyans inport stuffs that looks like Garri/semo.. its called griese or so. you save cash if you like chicken and wine/beer, cos those are the cheapest food/drinks in germo. I also heard its better you go with an android phone so you can access your student portals easily.
As for Jobs, the first step is: do u speak german? it goes a long way to determine the kind of job you will get. also, which city are you gonna be staying. some cities are competitive and expensive like Berlin, Bremen, Dortmund and Stuttgart. you can get a good student job cos your visa allows that, but understanding deutsch is the key to getting a good one.
if not, u may end up getting a menial job, but it will be enough to sustain you. coupled with your blocked account cash which you can live on. 650 - 700 euros per month.
Watch ur spending. be mindful of pretty german ladies. (they like ice cream and chocolate, each cost as much as 20euros). if you are so conversative, you may be able to live on 200euros per month excluding accomodation.
My experience from the thread and mein brothers in germany..
please, our ogas may also contribute/correct me
Stay blessed.. Gemeinsam sind wir stark !
Sie Sehen in Allemagne !! very educative! especially the 'german chicks love ice~cream and chocolate part' which is espensive........lol.... |
