Politics / Re: Shell Plans $5 Billion Sale Of Oil Fields In Nigeria by Pappyman: 10:26am On Dec 21, 2009
No2Atheism:

- Very good observation . . . about the topic . . . am embarrased to admit that I did not ask the poster what those assets really are. I just went for the jugular of Shell grin grin grin

- Yes most people do not realise that these New World Order people are basically gradually going towards the day and time when they would start taxing people for the air we are breathing . . .notice they have already started taxing companies for CO2 . . . based on a lie.

- What annoys me the most is that most scientists have shown that Global Warming is fraud . . .aimed to do 3 things:

1. Make money. . . through carbon trading as a new form of currency and also through fraudulent green concepts.
2. Facilitate one world government.
3. Hinder the development of Third world countries.

Yet to my suprise some Black Africans are still falling for the fraud . . . and are simply unable to understand that it is a fraud, even despite that it has been shown with scientific evidence that it is a fraud. . . and even despite that it has been shown through the email scandal that it is a fraud.

Chineke . . . sooner or later now @oyb would accuse me of being racist . . .

- How can a non-racist person sit in his own country and continent and already be considering the option of polluting another country or continent . . .if that is not racist please tell what it is. it just goes to show that they have no regards for us what so ever . . .yet we have Arab-centric and Eurocentric individuals doing their best to propagate the propaganda.

For those who do not understand the higlighted statement:

Consider it like if someone in his Ibadan House sits up one day and just decides that the house of someone in lagos is under-polluted hence he suitable for pollution with more gabbage.

Do you know how insulting and debasing and pompous that statement really is. . .

I do not dispute that fact that you are well learned and highly qualified for your job . . . I apologise if my statement was insulting.

2. Please realise that you are basically saying that same thing that I summarised under points 2 and points 3 with option 2 below . . .
3. Actually we are saying the same things.
4. Your statement is being specific about cost, my statement was an holistic statement covering the cost benefit of processing the gas . . .

Or are you so hell bent on opposing no2atheism that you do not to see that you are actually saying and repeating the same thing that you are trying to oppose. Notice what i said in my quote below and compare to what you have said which i quoted

cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy grin grin grin grin grin grin

Hope you realise that we do not always have to oppose each other . . . . grin grin grin

I never said Rome was built in a day . . . however i gave you examples showing that Nigerian companies have already started on the same part as that of Shell . . .hence over time they would get to the same level. Moreover if they have the same access to the same amount of oil (as Shell and Mobil does). . .it should not be long for them to acquire the same kind of financial muscle to understake bigger and bigger projects.

That is why i gave the example of Petronas and Petrobras . . . showing that Shell is not the be all . . .as far as operators and marketters are concerned.

A few years ago . . .there was no Conoil and Oando . . . yet we now have Oando and Conoil . . . hence cause they are unable to take up the same kind of projects like Shell does not mean there would not be a stop gap solution . . .

Shell itself did not become big overnight. . . .

Yes they are not in business to make a loss and Nigerians are also not in the business of being slaves of Europeans and likewise the Government is not the business of being responsible for killing its citizens through pollution of gas flaring (notice that i said pollution, i did not say Global Warming grin grin grin)

Likewise its not the business of the Nigerian Government to develop business ideas for shell, mobil and all when the government imposes fixed cost of gas. Hence the reality is that if the government imposes strigent and hefty financial fines on gas flaring . . .trust me Shell and Co would find a way to solve the gas flaring within a few years. . . .

The gas flaring can solve naija's power problem . . .hence the reality is that Shell and others do not really need to sell the gas . . .they can convert the gas to do something else which they can then sell to the market at reasonable prices . . .

Hence the reality is that Shell and others do not give a hoot simply because they are able to get away with it . . .

Hefty fines are serious deterents . . . grin grin grin grin

So in reality imposed cost of gas is not really a valid excuse . . .

I'm just making a contribution when your response came, you guys are saying the same thing but your analysis is more detailed.
I'm also in the sector and what I can say is that insensitivity and irresponsibility of our government is the reason why these multinationals are exploiting us.As we speak govt has not come out clearly on gas flaring, the post has been shifting and is still shifting.
I am not a pro-multinationals but I know that we need more serious nigerian companies to step into their shoes. Most of them are and will not survive if they venture there with their present mentality. For me, it is not yet uhuru and no time to start celebrating yet.

chidichris:

@monie,
you have just made your wish of meeting her known to us. we will all pray that u will live to meet your role model.
are u better than her? if yes why are u not in bba? the truth is that that bad and useless girl(nkenna) is better than 65% of gals.
outside the bba, take a trip to any public office like a bank in any part of nigeria, have interactions with our bankers and begin to appreciate nkenna.
@Pappyman,
if your parents are not compound fools, tell me why on earth will uninformed imbeciles like u be used in the place of a child.
u have nothing to contribute here on this topic. u are just moving by the wind. what is a reality show and what can u say about actors and actoresses choice of role in a script?
in what aspect of life have u ever represented your family not to talk of your village before looking down on someone representing nigeria?
do u know that if she happens to win the bba star price, u will never ion your whole life come anywhere close to her.
your less previlledged parents will be dying to have her autograph.
do not forget that even if she stops where she is now, she is an international figure and imbeciles like u will never go beyond your under-bridge criminal activities.
your type will never support a progressive because u are doomed. u simply represent an evil man.

Obviously something is wrong with you Chidichris if you insist on supporting someone giving your country a bad imagine unnecessarily.Do you at any time think of the implications of what your uncultured sister is saying on the tv?.Do you ever think that her careless utterance especially that she was involved in exam malpractise can lead to responsible Nigerians being denied admissions in foreign universities?, do you know that more terrible things happened in the countries of other guys in bba  and they never painted their own black.Havn't some elders in your family mentioned something like 'you do not wash you dirty linen in the public?, especially if such will not solve your problems. Have you seen any housemate since the inception of bba destroying his household, family and country like this before.
Someone has rightly said it that anyone that defend the way this unfortunate girl is disgracing us is also a disgrace.
There are bad people among us (just like in all other countries of the world) but going to an international tv channel to showcase howbad we are is ubfortunate and any right thinking person should know.I am very sure that even the babe will regret some of the things she said after leaving bba.
You obviously do not know me, but if you do you'll know that, even Nkenna after winning bba price will see it as a priviledge knowing me.Not everybody on Nairaland are of low pedigree, let that sink to your head. This is a form of entertainment to some people and in here we have several business owners that can even change Nkenna's life more than what bba can offer.
I don't know where you come from (I guess you're Ibo, maybe that's why you place winning money above your country's image), but where I come from in yorubaland, when someone does bad, it is not an offence to say it. Nkenna is a total disgrace and an embarassment to her family, tribe, Nigeria and even Africa. The people voting her to stay are doing that to ridicule Nigeria.Nigeria culture is rich and we are decent and responsible people and should live up to that despite the fact that we have bad eggs among us.

Politics / Nigerian Political Office Holders Highest Paid Globally, Says Transparency by Pappyman: 10:07am On Nov 19, 2009
Nigerian political office holders highest paid globally, says Transparency

NIGERIA'S political officer holders earn the highest pay in the world, Transparency International said in its report released yesterday.
Curiously, the Nigerian public servants earn the poorest pay globally, the body also revealed.
The body also rated Nigeria as the 38th most corrupt nation in the world.
In its 2009 Nigeria Corruption Perception Index released in Abuja during a media briefing, it placed Nigeria on the 142nd position out of the 180 countries surveyed with a total of 2.5 points out of 10.
Speaking at the briefing, the Secretary General of Transparency ln Nigeria (TIN), an affiliate of the international coalition, Mr. Osita Ogbu, lamented that the nation was sliding in the corruption war.
He observed that last year, the country was rated 39th in 2008 with a total score of 2.7. He acknowledged the passage of some anti-graft legislations by government, but said it has not demonstrated any political will to fight corruption.
The government is only paying lip service to the fight against corruption. There is a reign of impunity in the land, which the Attorney General of the Federation has called 'the rule of law,'" he said.
While urging the National Judicial Council to discipline erring officers, the secretary general accused the judiciary of constituting one of the stumbling blocks to the anti-corruption efforts in the country by granting reckless and questionable injunctions restraining the anti-corruption agencies from either investigating or prosecuting some persons.
Ogbu argued that absence of electoral accountability in Nigeria allows other forms of corruption to thrive, noting that nobody has been punished for their role in the "fundamentally flawed 2007 elections," even as the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission has continued to conduct other flawed bye-elections.
The group accused the Federal Government of taking steps that could be interpreted as undermining the electoral reform process, arguing that its rejection of key recommendations of the Justice Muhammadu Uwais-led Electoral Reform Committee indicated this.
TIN decried wage dichotomy between political office holders and public servants, noting that the remuneration of Nigeria's political office holders was the highest globally while that of their counterparts in public service was the least.
Speaking further, he argued that Nigeria required more serious effort and commitment to the fight against corruption as the recent crisis in the banking sector has shown the ineffectiveness of the regulatory framework.

@Pappyman
If your friend was that good, she will be the one doing the calling while your friend will be the one running away from her.  Take this from a lady (me), no lady wants to let go of a 'good' guy!

You might be right but at the same time she might just want to see how all the guys at the gym are and therefore not want to be hooked unto any one yet until the mission is accomplished.

No one know what's in her mind.

Yea it's true, there are babes like that.
A close pal had a similar experience too once. My guy is also married, they met at Charles Gym in PH.The woman actually seduced him according to him and thereafter told him not to bother her again. My friend has made several efforts after then but she keep telling him that she will call him when she needs him again.

chidichris:

well, am not hear to join issues with hypocrites but let us accept it that nkenna is a very good example of what nigeria is today.
leave the bba out of it as that is simply a show.
99% of our graduates today are less than illiterates. just take a trip to our banking halls and open communication with the bankers and hear them bring u down to, WELL SHA AND AS IN discussions.
find out from ppl at different employment centers and they will ask u how u refered someone of this quality to them for employment.
we are perfect in hiding our negativities and by so doing, making no efforts to correct what we lack.
our educational system is what nkenna is displaying in the bba and i bet u, she is among the best as far as nigeria is concerned.
we have a decayed system that will do no magic in producing sound people.
look at the shames of nigerian professors and doctors who are supposed to be our role model.
can any one of us here be proud to mention prof iwu as his role model or bode george as his role model.
the earlier we learn to expose our problems and work towards them the better as it is scientifically proved that no problem gets solution without identification.
we must identify our problem before we start looking for solution; there will be no point discussing the solution to unknown problems.

Mr know it all, what solution will this ridicule on an International Television bring to us then. This is not about english speaking but a case of being uncouth and not having proper upbringing. My grandmother in the village knows that there are some things you cannot say about your household in the public and that's what people are complaining about Nkenna. She's just naturally uncultured and that does not have anything to do with literacy or english speaking.
