The entire surah is centered around two wives only and their actions.that "all" in bracket even if is to be translated as such is a way of supposing.the surah only treats the ill actions of Aisha and Hafsa.that is evident when the word "qulobukooma" (hearts in double possessive form and not plural) is used in that same surah.

LagosShia: The warning only has to do with Aisha and Hafsa.the other wives are not concerned.

Moreover,there is the part in the two volumes for instance that are deliberately mistranslated.someone asked Ayatollah Khomeini on what should be done to a sodomized animal.the islam haters have gone further to mistranslate the part to appear as if the Ayatollah is actually promoting bestiality when in fact he's only tackling a prevailing problem that needs a solution.ironic enough,in the same book Ayatollah Khomeini stated the punishment to be administered on someone who commits bestiality!

okeyxyz: If you are going to judge people of the "stone-age", then you MUST put yourself in the same "stone-age" as them, the same culture, same values, and only on these basis must you judge them. No more, no less. Any other standard would be either dishonest or unintelligent. Do not forget that everybody, whether muslim, christian, jew or pagan were all marrying "children" in this era.

Then again, who decides when somebody is classified a child or an adult? Is there a divine hand-down from some supreme entity that we must conform to? Societies simply make these laws and follow them. The western cultures have decreed that adulthood starts at 18, another culture will tell you that once a girls starts to menstruate, then she's become an adult and many of our villages still follow this tenet.

Personally am a firm believer of the 18 year rule, but anybody who labels another a "pe.dophile" just because he's not conforming to western values is either dishonest or unintelligent.

okeyxyz: good question. Most nairalanders simply come on here to make arguments without context and validity. When did 18 years become the definition of adulthood? How do you assume to judge events of thousands of years ago by the standards of today? It clearly shows their inability to organize intelligent thought, let alone doing a proper critique of society, culture and morality. A lot of people who come here to cry "pedophilia!!" seem to have developed a sudden amnesia, forgetting that a lot of our mothers were married at about 10-13 years(not that they were having se.x then, but they were married or betrothed) old back in the villages. Now that we are priviledged to have an education, we suddenly assume that generations before should think like us and therefore be subject to our judgments and values which we ourselves have only recently adopted, not that we were raised up by them.

Frankly, I think these guys are suffering from some kind of inferiority complex, they are ashamed that they come from an "underdeveloped" culture, therefore they are overcompensating by acting like they personify all the western cultures and knowledge, so they can to look down on the rest of the "underdeveloped" folks and feel good about themselves. sad!!
