Toward the end of 2016, I was among a batch of staff who were laid off as the bank I was working for as a contract staff was "restructuring". My role was impacted by the restructuring and I didn't even have time to figure out a plan B. My salary at the time was #80,000 and I remember my mother cried more than I did. My former boss (God bless him always) recommended me to an outsourcing firm and in less than two weeks I was again employed, but with a lesser salary of #60,000. I worked for over a year then started making up my mind to move on. An opportunity came, with a Commercial Bank in one of the French speaking countries in West Africa, it was quite tempting but the fear of starting all over in a foreign land and leaving a Master program I started less than five (5) months back and an apartment I paid #300,000 for two years rent (the landlady refused to refund me my rent until I get a new tenant for her) - I lived there just for 6 weeks. My fiancée believed in me more than I did and encouraged me to accept the offer. I had to auction everything I had (some former colleagues bought some of my stuff on credit with promises to pay but never completed the payment till date) and moved on. It was a nightmare in this country; the system was still archaic, like the banking system in Nigeria back in 2004, the culture and the food were different. If I had enough money on me I would have taken the next flight back to Lagos, I became depressed. My new employers did not honor the agreed terms I signed before I left Nigeria. My air ticket was not reimbursed and I had to pay for my hotel for over two weeks until a colleague, a national of this country offered to squat me as I was running out of cash. For the first time in my life, in July 2017, I missed Nigeria. My salary was just big on paper in Franc CFA but peanuts when converted to Naira. guys, I wished I had never left my job in Nigeria. God in his infinite mercy, during the course of my job as a marketer, introduced me to people and I discovered many multinationals I never knew had offices in this part of the continent. With my bilingual skills as an advantage, I started applying and knocking on doors. My colleagues warned me that I will be sacked if they knew I was applying for jobs elsewhere, but a man on the ground fears no fall. Three (3) months later I was called for an interview in one of the top four in the continent and I landed a job I didn't know existed six (6) months before that time. I now earn a 7 figures income when converted in Naira. I salute my fiancee, now my wife who fervently believed in me more than I did, and I return all the Glory to God. #Grateful_heart #Resilience |

My brodas I need assistance biko. if u are a Nigerian who has lived in Abidjan for over 6 months u can be of immense assistance. I landed a job with GTbank here in Abidjan and I came from Naija to resume on the 26th of June 2017 as an account officer. I need accounts biko. I don't know anywhere apart from the road from my house in Angré to my office in Plateau n back again. yet I have to open 20 accounts weekly and bring huge deposits. All that is possible but I need contacts, I need good friends. I have been at the Embassy many times but there is no motivation there. I am ready to work but I need a board to spring. My new colleagues see me as a threat they are not willing to help. But I won't go down without a fight. my name is Abel, an Akwa Ibomite, but firstly a full blooded Nigerian. Gtbank give loans to credible customers and Transfers are real-time online. This is my number +225 85 46 25 54. |

my dear, not all men are the same. And u won't say because majority of men cheat that is why u won't get married. we don't stop sleeping at night because some people die in their sleep. Just pray for not just a God fearing man, but a disciplined man. I hv seen it all, so what will another woman give me that I have never seen or done in the past. Beside, I am fully satisfied with my wife. |

menix:dat rusted nail theory good self. Na for d crowd to tightly hold d robber, pin am for ground then use syringe inject PMS into his veins, then hand him over to police, he will become a vegetable in less than 20 minutes... Abidjan style |

kilode100:Mediation is d best... Rain make flowers grow, not thunder. |
benedictnsi:I feel d scrotums are the oil wells and others wealths in S/S, d tse tse fly are d militants(MEND, pro Biafrans etc) If that scrotum is smashed, d economy is destroyed cos our major revenue is d oil from the Niger delta(Scrotum). Yar'adua 's amnesty was one of the insecticides used to curb the invasion of the Tse Tse flies, Dat was commendable. So instead of using a sledgehammer to protect the niger delta, PMB shld devise another means. And to my knowledge Biafra is not in South South, it stops in South East. So I take the tse tse fly to be pipelines vandals, Niger Delta militants and those bokoharams trying to infiltrate the ND. #myOpinion |
OLYMPUS WILL SOON FALL! maybe then Mr. President will react... I wonder when his gallivanting all over d world to get help will start yielding results. This is so disheartening! We miss the "Clueless One" in moments like these. |

OP God bless u. Many parents R guilty as charged. But I will forever remain grateful to my late dad. When I was a kid used to tune his worldReceiver to foreign stations cos of the foreign languages the reporters were using. I loved d sound of it, but didn't understand Nada. My curiosity got so big when in primary 2 I was introduced to french language, got so attached dat dad decided to send me to a neighboring french speaking country for my secondary school education. I developed and perfected my French in addition to Spanish, added a degree in Foreign Languages et voilà. Now I am enjoying flirting with NGOs n some multinationals doing my freelance translation n interpretation services n consultancy. It is very good to support a child, guide and counsel him/her to make choices dat will enable him grow seamlessly in d future... But some choices are out of questions, e.g. Fried Plantain dreaming to become a lorry driver, dad did well to take him for delivrance #LoL But I hv seen many lorry drivers, taxi drivers, even carpenters, shoe makers, tailors etc. make it, it is all about dedication. God bless everyone out there who has decided not to give up... *excuse my typography, I am in transit... Bonne semaine à vous! |
