Odenigbo Aroli: Funny guy,it's sucks to be a loser; Best in waec, revolution is health sector, revolution in agriculture, improvement in sports.I stopped replying you when I saw the post where you said you've never been to Enugu... your ignorance is excusable then. Who no go no know! |
jude2011: @spyder880Nobody is saying Sullivan is perfect. After all, Nnamani spent 8 years working only at Nkanu West, did the heavens fall? Sullivan has touched many communities in Enugu State, much more than any previous state governor. But still, he can't fix all the roads in Enugu state on a tight budget. Has Akwa Ibom with all the funds available to her, fixed all the roads in AKS? |
Odenigbo Aroli: I'm not talking about a student here,I'm talking about a complete overhaul of the school system which will benefit every child.I presume you're from Anambra. Please tell us how your state has fared in those areas, so we know whether to borrow a leaf. We are all interdependent on each other. |
Odenigbo Aroli: I only replied in context to your post; why is Enugu lagging behind in Education, rural development, agricultural revolution, sports and even in health? Or do you people think UNTH should serve every Enugite in any part of Enugu where they are location?Odenigbo, don't be petty. Parklane is the best-run state teaching hospital in the East, one of only 14 state universities licensed to train doctors Everyone agrees Chime hasn't invested as much in education, but even then didn't Enugu kids come in 3rd nationwide at the Unity Schools entrance exams? Rural development, sports? How is Enugu lagging behind? And who is the comparison? |
spyder880: Enugu state is ranking among the best in educational achievement nation wide. One area that has attracted public attention in Enugu is the tourism. Swear if you never come shop for polo park mallOdenigbo, swear first! |
Odenigbo Aroli: With all the education awareness present in Enugu due to the many higher institutions scattered all over Enugu,Enugu is still lagging behind in education. Tell me one area that Enugu state has attracted public attention in? None, yet with all the beautiful people will go to Cross River and so many other places before Enugu. Lets be honest,Chime is a quiet, timid and a sneaky failure!Aren't you the same dude who went about claiming that the Ezeagu-born superstar, Chiwetel Ejiofor was from Anambra? |
Odenigbo Aroli: Seriously, by Nigeria standard Enugu is beautiful but for me I care more about how the poor are rehabilitated and spread of wealth and growth of the middle class.Glib as a politician. Please don't make this thread about Awka, which by the way, I'd love to see at her "full potential". |
Nwa Anambra: I don't want to go down this way with you......... if you don't keep your cool and reel out real analysis without the intent to insult, then I might just give it to you just the way you love it. peace! No need to get worked up. Talk about real analysis! Let's begin with your contentious claim that Enugu state has only one city. What exactly did you mean by that? I genuinely wish to know. |
Nwa Anambra: If we want to define a city by Western standards, Then only Ikeja, Lagos island down to Ajah and calabar, and Abuja has reached that status.I expected this rigmarole. I just stated a fact that you were seemingly unaware of. |
Nwa Anambra: first of all, the topic of the thread is misleading. As much as I like Sullivan, I must give an objective analysis of his government. He embarked on needless beautification of the urban Centre, almost neglecting other parts of the state. As it stands now the only factory operating at optimum level in Emene is Inosson plastics. He failed to open up new frontiers. A first visitor to Enugu will be bewildered by the gory picture that will greet him upon leaving the state capital. Presently, Enugu State remains the only state in the East with only one City. Enugu state capital has been a nice place since the discovery of coal and therefore there's nothing new Sullivan will add that has been seen in the capital.Let me correct an impression, there are only two cities in the East that meet the strict criteria of being a city: Enugu and Owerri. The rest have only gained township status. |
otil1: @Passion, pls don't get me wrong. I live right here in Emene and I feel it real.Bros, I wish we could elect that man for a third tenure; he's a visionary administrator. Had Nnamani done those key roads in Emene, then may be Chime would have built a fresh road to your doormot. Personally I'm grateful he wasn't a sectional leader like his predecessors. Plus, I don't even know the man personally. There used to be a Chime moniker here on NL, may be he/she will be of help. |
MOBJECTIVE: no matter how much i look at this, i think it's damn ugly. You're not alone; that is the prevailing opinion. Unlike you, I don't like the symbolism... In fact, it's too symbolic that it has lost all meaning. That combination of live ugu leaves and a bitmap eagle and torch drives me insane. The palm trees are ridiculously out of scale; in what universe is a sunflower the same size as a palm tree? The tusks are larger than life. Biko, Obiano should employ a proper Graphics expert; there are tons of them on NL. |
otil1: The road that gave value to their family land in thinkers cornerHeh heh heh You're a clown, I swear! |
spyder880: What about Emene old road, I can drive to Emene now. The airport road is for show and old road through thinkers corner is also for swow. He'll soon tell you the old road was built to connect Ugbo Chime |
Otil1, I'm watching to see how you'll move the goalpost... The pictures are rolling in per your request. |
otil1: [s]Chime's performance after 8years is at best controversial. From the foregoing many say he has many say he hasn't. |
fuckluv: The next Gov. Will focus on education. So you're from Ugwogo-Nike?Ugwogo-Nike backward? Please give us the specifics? Are there no good roads there? Schools? Hospitals? Isn't it the same Ugwogo with the thriving food market, that's only a quarter hour from Enugu? BTW I'm from Ikem, Isi Uzo. |
chymystique: Shey that the road to your own villa... Wah of the roads in those villages along Nsukka road(Udi LGA).. Egede, amaozara linking towards Affa.. Infact all doz villages along Nsukka rd is nothin to write home..no lite, no water, no road.. They ve nothing. Evn Fr. Mbaka said it.. He shldnt b performing on one side and expect me to praise himInteresting that you wish he'd fix all Enugu roads by the snap of a finger. His 4-point agenda focuses on KEY roads. Just because he hasn't fixed the road that leads to your own house in Egede or Affa, you conclude he hasn't done well. Didn't he link Udi to Ozalla Nkanu, and Udi to Anambra borderland, and there are many more new interior roads along Old Nsukka road such as those leading into Ukehe, Ohebedim etc. If Sullivan fixes all the roads, what will the next Governor do? |
chymystique: Performing Indeed!.. He only performed well in Enugu Capital and around his hometown.. And he did most this due to his 2015 senatorial ambition.. He has a lot to do esp in d rural areas.. IMO, Enugu state is back to its meSsThat is patently false. The road to my village, Ugwogo Nike-Ikem Road, was built by Sullivan, and the road is scheduled to continue to Eha Amufu till the borderland with Nkalagu in Ebonyi. He has also provided rural water and electricity for most parts of Isi Uzo. Power in Eha Amufu and Ikem is light years (pun intended) better than in some capital cities. Ikem has been linked to Obollo Afor by road. If you know Enugu State, you'd realise that Isi Uzo is one of those LGAs that lead nowhere, hence a perfect gauge to measure a Government's productivity. Government after government said there was no money to do that road, but Sullivan partnered the LGA and the road is still ongoing even if at the slowest pace. Sullivan Chime has done remarkably well. He has exceeded my expectations.

Chamack: He has tried, I like him as a performing governor but not for representation in the senate cos its requires one to be outspoken and not media shy. can he square up senators like Abdul Ningi, Smart Adeyemi,Ita Enang these are high ranking Senators whom their impact is felt in the house. Chime is media shy that it, he is Gil Nnaji in the making.( O Yes member)Never underestimate the passive-aggressive. I know you're inclined towards Ekweremadu...I also like him, but don't make Chime's easy nature a point against him. |
I'm following the thread, hoping the query will be resolved. |
Double post |
Chamack: Because he is media shy and this is person angling to represent Enugu West in the senate. A media shy person can't do well in the senate. What a peculiar conclusion! I understand you may not like the man, but media-shyness has no bearing on one's output in the Senate. Sullivan is one governor loved by everyone, and he has given reasons why he chose to keep the media out of his government. |
Anioma will no doubt be created but should remain in the SS. They are part of the Igbo nation first and foremost, and you don't have to be in Nigeria's geopolitical SE to feel/be Igbo. Besides there are other satellite Igbo communities in Benue (Ogbadigbo and Okpokwu LGAs), Rivers, Edo, Akwa Ibom, should we also form a state for all these others? Think Igbo Nation, and not South East... The geopolitical bloc called South East is an artificial creation, so why should it carry more relevance than being Igbo.I fail to see what benefits come with having a well-defined, and homogenous SE that houses all the Igbos of Nigeria. Enugu Ezhike (Ejige)was founded by an ousted Prince of Benin, Ejige Oba who finally settled up the hills of Nsukka that came to be known as Enu Ugwu Ezhike Oba. These people are Igbos today. Aniomas have a similar history, and they are Igbos. Isn't Enwo Igariwey an Anioma son heading a Pan-Igbo organization? Emigrating Igalas in the historical book "Igbo- Igala borderland" were completely Igbonized over a few decades. Today, the Attamas, Attahs, Obettas, Asogwas and other Igala surnames are vociferously Igbo, although they are descended from Igala priests. Even the Yorubas have satellite communities in Kogi, Kwara who nevertheless are first and foremost Yoruba. It's just a wise survival strategy to get more out of Nigeria. #Support Adada State creation. |
I don't like this logo; it's just a motley collection of items: Igbo traditional terracotta pot, tusks, the Niger bridge, a body of water, sunflowers, an eagle with a torch forced into her wings. In all, these items are distinct, tell individual stories, and there's no cohesion or unified story whatsoever. The designer just threw in anything and everything with an Anambra connection. I really find this logo abhorrent, juvenile and empty in meaning. Pardon my bluntness, but our Anambra deserves better. This logo can suffice as the local government logo of Onitcha or Igbo Ukwu. Anambra needs to rebrand, but this logo is just the wrong way to go about it. |
wirinet: Dear BrotherWirinet, To set you back on course, which state would you favour as the 6th SE State? After the SE gets a 6th state, we can chart through your idealistic thinking. Support Adada State creation. God bless. |
nyerem: I heard by one of my collegue dat bomb was found in fmc umuahia abt 2wks ago.since dat day av not slept with both eyes close. That's a big fat lie. |
wirinet: You are the one that is controlled by emotions rather than reason, even your moniker confirms it. Political and geocultural homegenity is not the main criteria for a viable state in the modern era, if so then the US would be the most unviable nation in the world. Economic viabily is the most important criteria for a successful state in a globalized world.Brother, In my previous post I have outlined that Adada has agricultural, educational, commercial/economic viability. Which state doesn't presently depend on oil? Until such a time when states will be encouraged to leverage on their comparative advantages, the ND oil remains there for everyone... Even for you. So it was hypocritical of you bringing up that issue. |
millionaireman: Adada brothers/sisters, be your brothers' keepers, be real for once. Will it not pain you, sound absurd, if not completely outrageous, to still mass up 48 local govt areas with more than ten million people in today's Imo and Anambra states, just to divide Enugu state of 17 local govt areas with less than 3 million population in order to create an Adada state of 7 local government areas with less than 2 million population? Why still rely on that hotel room illegal meeting in 2006 or so by some disgruntled southeat legislators for Adada? By the way, the meeting was immediately condemned by Ohaneze Ndigbo as illegal. @chino, you have only a vote during any referendum, if any, for ANIM STATE. But note: Political leaders from Anambra south senatorial district, including former Anambra state governor, Mbadinuju and other prominent politicians from Anambra south joined in signing the demand for a new state carved from Anambra South and Imo West senatorial zones way back in 2005, and still pursue the demand till today. So chill out. Anambra south has suffered serious development setbacks since then, including Anambra legislators hurriedly relocating main campus of Anambra state University from Uli in Anambra south senatorial zone. Imo west senatorial zone has been suffering from similar denial of infrastructures all these years. Finally, the 12 lgas in Imo West senatorial zone are large, populated and viable enough to merit the propsed sixth state.Your responses are stunted by your own emotions. I have taken time to show that Adada is a viable option, the surest bet. The area is politically and geoculturally homogenous, and has the approval of Enugu, Ebonyi states, and the tacit approval of Anambra. Homogeneity is one of the stipulated requirements that any new state must satisfy. So, don't be petty; support Adada state creation. SE delegates have suggested Adada as the archetype of a viable state. |
millionaireman: For the sake of justice and equity, this is the second time in less than ten years that Nigerians sat and decided that a sixth state should be created in the southeast areaaa, first and foremost. This time, people from the southeast need to face reality in the choice of the location for a sixth state in the southeast, instead of manifesting greed in the choice of the location. Present southeast area is former East Central State which was first divided into Anambra and Imo state in 1976. Anambra state was further divided into Enugu and Anambra states at the same time Imo state was divided into Abia and Imo states. Ebonyi state which is the fifth and last state in the southeast was derived from Abia and Enugu states in 1996. Thus, considering the foregoing, as well as considering the factors of VIABILITY, POPULATION, CULTURAL AFFINITY AND EQUITY, the next state to be created in the southeast area has to be carved from Imo West and Anambra South senatoril zones, (ANIM STATE) or from the 12 local government areas of Imo West senatorial zone (NJABA STATE). This group was the first to make request for new state before the NATIONAL POLITICAL REFORMS CONFERENCE during the OBJ administration. Southeasterners can no longer create a situation whereby the baby is thrown away together with the bath tub, as was done after the last political reforms conference. The Southeast delegates have long decided on Adada State as the surest bet. The area consists the northerly half of present Enugu State, a population in excess of 1.5M, already has a Federal University, a capital city at Nsukka, the largest indigenous community in black Africa ie Enugu Ezike, illimitable agricultural and tourism potentials from Isi Uzo to Uzo Uwani (Adarice) producing exotic products: honey, ose Nsukka, palm oil, rice, a Federal College of Education at Isi Uzo, a School of Health Technology, a School of Agriculture, indigenous manufacturing companies, the former capital of the palm oil trade ie Obollo, a place where the late Zik of Africa adopted as his home owing to its naturalness and serenity, that has also hosted Princess Alexandria of Kent etc So, Adada has a long and beautiful history. Moreso, the new state will share boundaries with Benue, Kogi, Ebonyi, Anambra, and what will remain as Enugu. So you see, Adada is strategically located. Support Adada State creation! |
A group of South African investors have indicated interest to plough $200 million in the agriculture sector in Edo, Enugu and Benue states.http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/safricans-to-invest-200m-in-edo-enugu-benue-states/182397/ |
