carpenter: In my opinion the phrase "complete confidence" does not even exist when the asset we are talking about is my humble self. So I would not have complete confidence in anyone not to talk of companies. I do hope and we can only hope. Nothing is promised or guaranteed. The saying does makes sense for me though...maybe because I am not trying to time the market and be a millionaire overnight. I just dey waka jejely. My Oga hen, no be small thing. It also makes sense for me, I am just saying our bourse get as e be no be small. Anyway sha, do remember that hope is not an investment strategy. Na hope carry people enter Jos Breweries, na dat same hope still carry person enter DAAR today . |

carpenter: Food for thought: "You don’t need to be an expert in order to achieve satisfactory investment returns... Focus on the future productivity of the asset you are considering.. If you instead focus on the prospective price change of a contemplated purchase, you are speculating.. Games are won by players who focus on the playing field – not by those whose eyes are glued to the scoreboard... " - Warren Buffett look at the scoreboard once in a while sha...lol The above is very valid my Oga, in the clime where it was postulated. Pray, do tell me one company on our own bourse that you are completely confident in its future productivity and can afford to take your eyes off the scoreboard (volume and price) for a while. |

Born2berich: @Passwelle, what will you now say about Diamond bank? What was their right offer price compared to today's market price. My Oga, hindsight they say is 20/20. Diamond folks are presently in the same category as for example the 2007 Transcorp IPO folks. However, the loyal shareholders of Access who believe in the stock, can simply mop up at a faster rate now to their desired position, than take up any future rights at 8.90. |

Toluway: Do you know that a stock without anything to show at present, whose bus I mistakenly entered, is the one making me happy at present!? Ladies and gentlemen, where is Maybaker coming from. Almost 10% today! I would normally not buy Ikeja, see it rallying like a mad dog!! Diversification is necessary my brother. My brother, I rejoice with you! Every stock has its day o, just be wary and know when to alight. Remember, you never really know how much you're going to make until you sell. May your joy not be short lived, or cut short by an advert in the Guardian. |

Charlesnerd: There is a mix up somewhere. Does it mean FPI jumped from 25.17 % in July,2014 to 81% in August, 2014? Just culled below from marketwatch.ng "However, the FPI started declining in April to 75.25, went down in May to 52.32 and further down to 25.17 per cent in July. Domestic investors can be categorised into either institutional or retail investors. Their transaction, on the other hand, rose to 74.83 per cent of total equity transaction in July, 2014 from 37.47 per cent in July, 2013" No mix up, just good old selective reporting. What is reported sounds sensational. Indeed it did jump up to 81.43% in Aug. See link below: http://www.nse.com.ng/market_data-site/other-market-information-site/FPI%20Report/Domestic%20and%20FPI%20Report%20August%202014.pdf |

Charlesnerd: There was a report posted by Abidemi early today on the declining foreign participation on the NSE.It looks like majority of the so called foreign investors have exited a long time ago. They usually leave a trace and the daily traded volumes does not indicate a major sell off.Taking into consideration their "perceived" risk of the upcoming elections and the outlook of the financial sector (which is their playground),any foreign investor selling at this period of bears is actually "selling into weakness". That report documented the figure for July. Foreign participation increased to >81% in August 2014 compared to 52% in Aug 2013. We do not yet have figures for Sept though. |

Bros, Wapic last trade is still 68kobo. Lets not deceive ourselves. We here on NSEMPA are negligible in the grand scheme of things on the NSE. Even our brethren with millions of Oxygen units and who continue to mop up at a faster rate cant alter its sideways trading. If we want to test our clout, lets all make a bull run on any one stock and see! |

This is actually very noteworthy: http://marketwatch.ng/News/post/2014/10/13/Foreign_Investors_Participation_On_NSE_Drops_To_25.aspx"According to the managing director of Investdata Consulting Limited, Mr Ambrose Omodion, the market may end the year on a poor performance lower than what the market analysts has anticipated in the beginning of the year due to the 2015 general elections. He pointed out that the foreign investors, who are the drivers of the market, are skeptical of the likely outcome of the elections." Modified: The above may have intentionally been published and may send an erroneous message. Foreign participation has subsequently increased from the 25% in July to 81.43% in August. |

No one can predict or time the market Sir. Especially with a bourse like ours. In future, include a caveat, when you make such definite predictions. |
