Ugosample: Thank you. please house indulge my curiosity, which stock brokering firm will you recommend for a beginner like me, and what are the requirements for opening an account with them. Thank you in advance.
I will recommend any firm that does not have realtime trading to start with. Unless you are very good with nerves and are able to hold your ground in the face of at times extreme intra day swings of your intended stocks. Thus you will not make impulse sales or purchases but can think through approiprate limits for the mandates you give.
Start with not much capital at the broking firm incase they are difficult when its time to migrate your positions to a firm with real time trading.
After all said and done, my personal advise would be to avoid Leadway and Cashcraft. I am speaking from my personal experience with them.

Yem0350: NSE shares dey confuse someone at times. A company wit bad result wit its shares moving northward afta announcement. Hope ebola has not entered dis market sha.
Remember so many folks do not have access to the realtime data and info you do grin
Many wont see the FO results till they read the business section of next week Mondays papers, while their brokers will just execute the mandates at hand.

erm I dont think so angry
EPS on half year is N1.9 on a share that trades above N200! assuming this "feat" is replicated through the rest of the year we are looking at EPS of c. N4. Conoil is paying a dividend of N4 on a share thats less than N80 @ the mo.

mercylicious: Conoil had no bid no offer on it as at the period I checked, bt it was traded yesterday despite dt there is excess bid for it. Almost a million units of con oil order was left unfilled yesterday.
Aside for the pre-market period, all through yesterday, Conoil had no bid or offer information. I checked through out the day. My observation is that the bid and offer info does not show up for the most controversial/liquid stocks of the day grin. or maybe all the trades were executed as cross trades.

Elai147: For some days now. Like someone recently complained, have you observed that sometimes there are no bids and offers sizes when you double-click on a stock? What could be the reason for this?
You are not the only one experiencing this.
I have been informed though, that it is from the NSE feed and not from Morgan Capital. Remember they are offering a platform to connect to the NSE engine with the itrade.
I recall the "unending" offer of Unity Bank disappearing on several occasions in the last 2 weeks.
As suggested by a previous poster, in future after you login, click the "Trade real time" and then "orders" and then "buy" or "sell" as the case may be

miftpulse: Our laughter can only start after the board meeting, because last year #2 was declared only for them to make a turn around to pay #1 stating bad Q2 result as a reason. This is no discouragement for traders oh, buying now is still a premium because some people entered at #79.
Indeed I recall. The #4 was approved by the board on Monday the 4th.

Oh, I see. I fully understand your fear. Timing is key, as the timing of the next correction is unknowable. Or in the words of John Hussman
"The problem with bubbles is that they force one to decide whether to look like an i diot before the peak, or an idio t after the peak."
