He is an intelligent player but he is so different from Bruno that if we use him as a sub or alternative for Bruno our play would likely go to pieces, not because he is not decent but because our play right now is based on Bruno's skillset.

Bruno is a player who goes out to seek the ball and can hold it turn and pass long or short. For example Bruno averages about 3 long balls a game for us, VDB for his career has averaged just under 1 long ball a game. He is not the one to pass long for Rashy or Martial's runs INSTEAD he wants to make the runs so that McFred can find him with long balls.

I think most times he positions himself in a way that a quick vertical pass can release him to turn and look for the forwards but the pass doesn't come and when it goes through, he immediately releases the ball back to Fred/Matic...I think this has to do more with lack of confidence in his ability to turn and find his strikers...I'd like to see him going towards the ball and using his quick passing to move the ball forward but that will mean playing with a CM that's good with touch and move football...He'd have worked well with Herrera...

In all, I hope Ole and the others find a way to best utilize him. Maybe, when Bruno is not on the pitch we need to change our pattern of play...

It was very frustrating to watch,at least Fred has the idea of The pass, just that he lacks the ability to give it..if we had a carrick type of player in that matic role,vdb would be eating good,those vertical passes easily takes out 2 or more midfieders out of the game.

One thing people should know about vdb is that he is a proper product of TOTAL FOOTBALL, that ajax academy teaches their players basically all key positions and roles in football, especially for midfielders,they are above average in finding and giving passes.

Now anytime vdb plays and either of Fred/matic holds the ball,vdb ALWAYS positions himself in between passing lanes,he puts himself in a position where the passer of the ball should be forced to make a vertical splitting pass,the basic problem of that our midfield is that its not really drilled well tactically..its basically individual brilliance that helps us..our players are too immobile that's why its also affecting vdb.now ogs supposedly called vdb and convinced him to join knowing his strengths, he's not a player to always hold on to the ball and dribble,he's the player that needs players around him with a similar level of football intelligence.. An average Spanish coach would do better with him..I'm just saying that he shouldn't be written off immediately, hopefully once we get a better manager,his qualities would show.

You're spot on with the bolded, that guy takes up positions I find interesting but our midfielders hardly ever make those passes for fear of losing the ball (Fred tries it but his passes aren't always accurate)...

I watched VDB playing with De Jong, Ziyech, Blind and others at Ajax and he did not look timid. That Ajax team was renowned for their crisp passing and movement, something we collectively lack as a team.

We all watched VDB at Ajax and didn't notice this deficiency or maybe we just didn't pay enough attention but then, for a club as big as ours to go after a player, I don't want to believe they didn't see something that excited them...It is imperative he comes good because if he fails, it will be a case of one too many failures here...

We have signed so many players who were doing well before joining us. If this trend continues, most players will be skeptical when the idea of joining Manchester United pops up.

Ole has done his part but it's clear he doesn't have the gravitas yet to take us to the highest level.
On the other hand he hasn't done badly to warrant the sack you guys keep on clamoring for here, ffs he's team is 2nd on the table.

He currently has one year remaining on his contract, either the board allows him see it out if he can at least win a trophy this year with a top 2 finish or they appoint another Manager.

I'm even tired of this matter everyday for here or when ever the team drops points. I'm neither OleIN or OleOUT, this is just the current reality whether you believe it or not.

Contradicting yourself...If you acknowledge he does not have what it's takes to take us to the next level, of what use is it keeping him around? Not doing badly isn't enough for a top team or a team aspiring to be back on top.

False again. Remove 6 from our GD and we still have a worse GD record than Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham and even Arsenal who are outside the top 10. I didn’t bother to add city because obviously you know City are clear.

If we want to win the title, should we be conceding so many goals? Which title winning team ever conceded 30 goals at this stage of the season? If you want to compare our GD record with teams below us and use that as an excuse that our defence isn’t bad, then maybe you know in your heart that we are not strong enough to win the title yet. The fact that others are conceding many goals too is no excuse for our rubbish defence. Not everyone spent over 80 million on a single CB.

The question was never about our defence being bad anyway(although that is a known fact). I was just rubbishing the notion that Ole has no tactics. There is no way we score so many goals without tactics. Apart from the goals, we always create tons of chances every match day. We wouldn’t create so many chances if the coach wasn’t employing good tactics.

Our attacking play has improved thanks to Ole. All I want is for him to tactically tweak something so we can stop conceding goals anyhow.

You will agree that at the end of the season, we will judge Ole based on our position on the log so no matter how good we are going forward, if the defense does not improve and it costs us at the end, the manager will be termed a failure...
