1. How many teams are on a winning run currently?
2. How many teams string together several winning runs in a season?
3. Didn't I mention earlier that the key was getting on another winning run soon after the current one hits a snag?
4. How is going on a winning run worse than drawing consecutively and then not going on a run?
5. Isn't going on winning runs the right way to build a championship winning team?

You guys talk as if you want the best for the club and someone wants the worst. You think winning runs are not good enough but then you've never had winning runs before. Was it not the winning run that made Utd finish 3rd last season? Was it not the winning run that made you, patrickmuf, nitrogen and others dream about winning the league? Have yo uever dreamt about winning the league post SAF?

You people who are crying 'sack the coach now' want to win the league this season, irrespective of the journey post-SAF. If Ole wins the Europa league this season, will you be satisfied? I know I won't be. The league and UCL are the hallmark of a top top team.

I, for one, don't mind sacking the coach. But then you have to replace him with someone who will do better than he has, AND then support him in the transfer market.

You guys are always thinking short-term, try to think long term.

I have said multiple times on this board that Ole might not be the one to make Man Utd serial challengers but he seems to be the one to take us part-way there.

Na wah o.
I have seen enough of Ole to know he isn't the way forward...

That goal was probably the 10th we've conceded from set piece this season. It's a serious concern if not for our coaching crew, for me. DDG refusal to come out has also contributed to this problem in a great deal.

We have conceded 12 goals from 3 matches we have no business conceding that much from. On a good day, we shouldn't be conceding more than 3. Imagine how a -9 on our GA will make our stats look much better. And this is just 3 matches out of 23.

Ole should be credited for moving the team forward but it's criminal that he's spent 200 milli on a defense this poor. Continously backing DDG regardless of how many mistakes he makes & paying a world record fee for Harry fridge are all his decisions..

Ole replaced Mou and by forward in this case, he is expected to out do Mou in league position and maybe trophies if I want to be fair to Mou fans...

It's okay to blame OGS for our defense. Infact, if you curse him for that there's no problem at least from my side.

But saying you won't praise him for setting up one of the sharpest attack in the league then I'd say you no dey try at all!

Midterm test and exam analogy doesn't do justice to the situation we are.

If can't praise Ole for this attack then you shouldn't blame him for the defense and vice versa.

Besides, I'm guessing guys like Maguire and DDG has a contract clause that state they must play if they are fit.
The functionality of each unit = the means to an end...Truth be told, he will be judged by how we end up and not how well on of the units that make up the team fares...

As long as the defense keep fumbling, I'm sorry I won't praise him because it's of no use to score 100 foals and concede 80 goals...

I acknowledge we have improved our attacking play but for Ole to get the praise he deserves, the defense has to shutout the opposition that way, our goals will count for something...

Good question!
If we must blane the defense, it simply means Ole has wasted 130m worth of investment because he supervised the purchase of Maguire and AWB...

I think we have a problem as a collective unit even though our defenders have made comical errors...

My man eph12 will always fault the collective while I think our defenders haven't covered themselves in glory especially our CBs...For instance, that last goal by Everton is comical as I don't get if we were playing a high line or defending deep and that's something we are supposed to have ironed out in training in any case of a last minute set piece...

The coaching crew should do well to improve our collective team play (especially pressing) and our defensive coordination...

Still the same thing.

Will Pep dare bench Aguero who will not adhere to his instructions if he doesn’t have Jesus?

You say Pep plays a certain brand of football and improves most of the players he coaches yet he has overhauled his Man City side a couple of years after he got there.

How many good-average players did he meet at City and how many of them are still in the squad?

If Pep was in charge at Utd, he cannot bench Martial perennially if his options are James, Rashford, Greenwood and Cavani.

It still boils down to player acquisition.

And he isn’t the one in charge of procuring those players. He only tells his bosses he needs players with such and such qualities and they get it for him. He doesn’t decide how much players are bought either.
Jesus was on the bench yesterday whilst Sterling, Foden and Mahrez started up front...Pep coached City yesterday...

Cancelo/Walker vs AWB and you'd have many folks extol the defensive solidity of AWB...Most of you would've put it at 50 vs 50...

Of course I know Stones has always been called overrated English player so Lindelof will be picked ahead of him...

Dias from the Portuguese league over EPL proven Maguire? You might be lynched for entertaining such thoughts...

Rodri, the slow Rodri from LA Liga? He even plays in an ultra defensive set up under Simeone, he isn't good enough...McTominay is faster and Stronger...

Gundogan is injury prone, he has nothing on Pogba, a world cup winner...

Bernardo Silva/KDB? We have Bruno, he is better than both...

Sterling? The headless chicken? Rashford shits on him...

Greenwood is the truth, Mahrez is too inconsistent and all that...

The only area people won't debate on is the CF position and that's if you present Martial but if it's Cavani, we will hear how he has the best movement in the world...

But Pep is doing wonders with his team while ours is not good enough...Nobody wants to talk about the role of Pep and that of Ole which to me is the biggest difference between the both teams...

You’re making my point for me.

If Pep comes here, nothing will change with these players. They will adhere to instructions a match or two and then revert to normal in the next few games. If you’d watched other City games after that friendly, you’d notice.

That is the reason Pep couldn’t do jack with the Sagnas, Clichys and Bravos and Yaya Toures. He overhauled his squad in the first 2 seasons. Last 2 seasons he overhauled his defense again.

Do you think Martial will press like Jesus if Pep were his coach? I want you to answer this.

And buying players isn’t the job of the coach. The coach only gives the procuring department a list of the type of players he wants and the attributes he expects.

That United spent huge sums on a player doesn’t mean they cannot spend less on other alternatives. Blame the board and Ed for that incompetence. They cannot build a good scouting system or strike good deals in time.
If he doesn't, he drops to the bench...I gave you enough instances where Pep has benched established pros for youngsters who are ready to give their all...He did it at Barcelona where he sold Dinho and Deco while Eto'o just managed to stay one more season...That's a coach with guts, you 3ither do it his way or bounce...

For the money we used to sign Maguire and AWB, Pep would have gotten us 3-4 solid players...

Pogba won't even try all this his rubbish, he either commits to the course or bounce and as he goes, he'll be replaced adequately...

The thing with Pep is that his teams play a very good brand of football and he manages to improve most of the players he coaches. You can see what he did in Barcelona, at Bayern and now with City...All of those teams are still building off his style of blame...

Good point. But look at this angle:

How has Tottenham’s passes been this season under Mou?
How has our passes been under Mou?
And how has our passes been this season?

There was a time under Mourinho when the passing was an issue. Mou drilled it into them and in the next game the passes were crisp and fast. Two games later the passes were slow again.

Even this season sef. There were games where the players took less time to pass the ball. Maguire was giving one time passes to Shaw. No time wasted on control. In 3 games he don revert to normal.

It’s either the coach is not telling them to pass faster or they’ve been telling them and e don tire coach.

If we’re going to make faster passes, it has to be as a unit. One slow passer (like Magwaya) will thrown a wrench in the works.

Same as pressing as a unit from the front. With Cavani up top, Bruno behind him and likeminded players on either side of him we’ll be good. But put Martial in front and we’re as useless as Phil. Jokes.

The solution? Which one is easier- buy new players that fit those roles or convert the ones you have to do those jobs ?
The solution is simple, change the coach...

The first time I watched Man City under Pep was in a friendly against Arsenal, a couple of days after he took over the reigns at City...The first thing I noticed was that immediately the keeper had the ball, the CBs opened up towards to full back position whilst the DM dropped back and the two wing backs moved higher up the pitch and the striker running into channels giving the keeper 6 options to pass the ball either to his CBs, the DM, wing backs or go long looking for the striker...Immediately I told myself that Pep is a coach...He didn't wait for when he got the best players, he started it straight away with Otamendi and Kompany, Clichy and Sagna, Fernandinho and Aguero...As the season wore on, he made changes to his personnel to best suit his style of player...

Under Pep it is soothing to note that most of their purchases is within the range of 50m whilst we on the other hand will sign one player for 100m or thereabouts...For Lukaku and Pogba, City will buy Gundogan, Jesus, Mendy and Walker...At the end, we will cry that City got 4 players while we got 2 but what happened? They spent better...Pep goes after very technical players and isn't afraid to bench underperforming players...Garcia was starting over Stones after Stones allowed the hype to get to him. Garcia na Tuanzebe and Mengi them mate o!

Jesus was starting over Aguero when Pep thought Aguero wasn't offering enough...

If Pep comes here, he might not win it in his first season but our pattern of play will change almost immediately and in the proceeding seasons, he will go about signing players to plug the gaps in the team...Everything is deliberate, he knows what he wants, how he wants to play and goes about getting it done...

Give this united team to Guardiola, 1 year later you will see what the team will turn into, Ole cannot perform more than his abilities. He started coach about the same time with Guardiola but look at their trajectory.

For those that care to remember, the Barca team that Pep took over in 2008 is a very unbalanced and dilapidated, one year later he is winning the treble. Give Ole that kind of team, we will only be hearing of complaints here and there.
Today we complain of attack, tomorrow we complain of midfield the next is goalkeeper and then defence, every time with Ole nothing is ever balanced. If Ole did not play for Man United, will he ever smell the managers position at Manchester United?

My problem is with the unrealistic outrage about our chances as regards the league.

As far as Ole is concerned, we can win 5 games and go ahead and loss 2 but we shouldn't complain because of what? Who cares about what you think...

How will we ascend to the top if we are okay with dropping points just because he had a good run prior to dropping points? In a league competition, how do you measure progress if you don't look at those around you?

Man City were below us at some point but ATM, they are ahead with a 5 pts lead and have a game in hand making it a possible 8 pts gap...Nobody wants to complain because we are 2nd on the log but by the time you look at how where City were before and now, you realize just how many points we have dropped that shouldn't be...

We draw Leicester, they will say Leicester is a big team but couple of weeks after, even smaller teams will go and get the maximum points off Leicester...

With Liverpool is the same thing. 1 point was looking like a steal until Burnley, Brighton and yesterday City when to Anfield and came back with 3 pts...Same Anfield that our fans here will vilify you for saying we shiuld have won there.

Every time we drop points, we will start reading how the other team is like prime Barca, only for a smaller team to beat the same team in the near future...
