elampiro: I dont look at stats. I only look at stats when argument is getting long and sometimea want to know who might be right or wrong. But again stats are the most credible judgement not your subjective views based on the way you underatand football
Hendenson is not as creative as Fred, he only plays with more quality forwarda. Yet Fred still beats him on stats. Do you know many through balls Fred has passed and got missed from poor attempt?
Central Attacking midfielder 10 is a forward player. It is not debatable. When Rooney played 10 behind RVP why did we all agree he was a forward player? None of us ever considered him a midfielder. You were here when Coogar and I had years of arguments. These poaitions are settled you cannot change them. Cetral attacking midfeilder plays behind the striker and between the two wingers. He is meant to be the primary supplier. Who has said elite teams depends only on strikers. No team does. Also no team or elite team depends on only defenders to defend the box. But we know whose jobs it is to defend primarily
Every top team and low teams set several men in attacking position when they attack and even more men in defenaive poaition when they defend. But we are talking of primary reaponsibilities. It is not like we are saying players should be statues.
I'll end the argument here...If you think Fred is more creative than Henderson, then fine.
Leyqute: Ole has been acting senile since the loss to Newcastle and Longrod. I don handoff since.
His reaction to van Persie’s criticism is just off, especially the last ‘medieval’ part. I don’t really watch or read comments from his pressers again.
The formation worked because Lingard was shit. If Lingard was any good enough to drag players towards him like Pogba will do in similar role, Arsenal's defensive shape would've crack as Rashford would've been free most of the times or in a 1v1 against Sokratis.
Mehn you sef see the sense in that...When you see a coach, you know one. Arteta will go on to be successful because he has the right footballing ideas and not that joke of a scientist we have always talking about DNA and Chemistry...
Ole: “Wolves? The fourth time there in my time already and we have not won yet at Molineux. But it is a tough place. Liverpool lost there last season and Man City have just lost there now.” #mufc [Sky]
Chrisus: Ole: “Midfield options? Tim (Fosu-Mensah) when he comes back he’s capable of playing there. Andreas Pereira has played a couple of games in there, so he’s not let us down in there. He’s an option.” #mufc [Standard]
Look at the rubbish coming from this idiot. Instead of pressuring the board to sign at least one or two quality midfielders, he is trusting Pereira and soon to be fit again TFM, a player that has not played in midfield for sometime now.
Leyqute, are you seeing Ole? I have always maintained that he is a mediocre.
Elampiro, I am certain from your comments you don't watch a whole lot of games, you depend mostly on reviews and stat sites to form an opinion. Henderson is more creative than Fred, there's no comparison here. Wijnaldum is more dangerous around the box than all our CM bar Pogba...Only Pogba can walk into that Liverpool midfield and only because of his individual quality but then, his work rate will fail him if he does not improve.
On creativity, I see you talking about front 4, before now, you used to say front 3 until you managed to convince yourself that an AMF is an attacker. I need not explain that an AMF is different from a SS which is the role Tevez and Rooney played to perfection. The job of an AMF is to get the ball from midfield and either drive into the opposition half using speed and technique or use his passing skills to locate an attacking player.
No elite team depends only on their strikers (front 3 or 4 as you wish). Bayern has Lewandowski, Gnabry, Coman, Alaba, Kimmich, Coutinho.
Barcelona has Messi, Suarez, Griezemann, Alba and Semedo.
Manchester City has Aguero, De Bruyne, Sterling, Mendy, Mahrez and Bernardo Silva
Real Madrid have Benzema, Hazard, Bale, Marcelo, Carvajal.
Juventus have Ronaldo, Higuain, Dybala, Alex Sandro, the passing skills of Bonucci at the back etc.
Liverpool have Salah, Mane, Firmino, Robertson, TAA plus added creativity from deep (Van Dijk and Henderson).
Every top team is set up to have at least 5 players in attacking position when they go forward coupled with midfielders who have got the passing range should they decide to go long but you're here arguing otherwise. How you want the strikers to do it all when the AMF is trash and their fullbacks don't bump forward to draw defenders away from them is beyond me.
In the past I have asked you to study videos of Messi getting past players wherein you'll see the importance of the runs the likes of Suarez, Alba, Rakitic, Semedo and the rest make. One run behind or across a defender is enough to destabilize a whole defense just like the run Kolasinac made that saw our defensive shape all over the place.
weedtaker: We've many problem in dis team, First being our lack of movement
In the 2nd half when Arsenal were gassed out and we had control of the ball we were an eye sore, Fred go hold ball everybody go stand the look like zombie.
Since we don't have a good number 10 why not switch to 4-3-3 na must say we must play that Rubbish 4-2-3-1?
Our pressing game is not coordinated at all, it looks amateur level, Rashford will be running with the ball, Shaw the LB go just stand and expect Rashas to dribble 3people and score or assist, is that how other teams in the PL attack? why is only our different?
Another is the balls to drop underperforming players, them suppose don drop de gea, Maguire lindelof AWB Lingard and perreira at one point dis season, but despite their poor forms they are all still guaranteed to play.
I wouldn't mind a 4 - 4 - 2 at the moment with Rashford and James on the wings.
Our pressing game is the worst of the top teams. No be today we start to complain, the front 3 will press, the midfield won't join and if the midfield joins, the defense will just sit back rather than step up to narrow the playing field.
Talking about overlapping play, no be today we start to talk that one. Some folks here still throw weightless punches at us for suggesting our full backs to join the attack more often so they can drag defenders away from the wingers or be released to whip in crosses like Auba did Kolasinac...Everything points to a clueless coach.
At Arsenal, Ozil is putting in a shift because Arteta won't settle for less but the clown we have here is talking about not signing players so it doesn't disrupt the team Chemistry...If we have any chemistry, we'd be doing a lot better.
Lana1: I cant even count how many times(since last season) when we've been in this kind of situation below and yet our attackers won't score.
But people here will always blame the midfielders and full backs for not creating enough just to exonerate their fav players of any blame........which is just funny especially as United is top 5 in EPL teams who have created the most chances this season.
Is Lingard an attacker or a midfielder? You want to blame the strikers when from your pictorial evidence it points to the fact that our attacking midfielder made the wrong choice.
Kolasinac that created Arsenals first goal, is he a striker? Sokratis that scored the second, is he a striker?
elampiro: Pogba played the highest number of minutes for us last season 3012 minutes which is equivalent to 33.5 games. He created only 9 assists
Accept you were wrong about this midfield team. It is our forward who lack the quality to cause harvoc. No one forward player can play with his back to the goal to control long balls. No one gets the ball and the whole opposition defence will immediately be in disarray.
Salah, Mane and Firminho will shine in any team.
In our last match against Arsenal, Lingard had an opportunity to play Martial through on goal but he choose to pass instead to James and the pass was even behind him. Is that the strikers fault? Kolasinac created the first goal, Sokratis scored the second. Defenders contributing to the attack. Our supporting cast is as bad as they come.
elampiro: First what you have confirmed is that a coach based his team creativity of the creative players in his team. If you have full backs that are creative and your midfielders are less creative, then the full backs can go all out while the less creative players stay to block. That is what Liverpool does. Every teams knows its strength. This is why Bissaka will be less forward going that Willians when they both mature. You guys should understand this.
As for creativity in midfield, those Liverpool midfielders are ordinary or even worse than ours. When you play a long ball to Messi he will control it. Play same long ball to Lingard or James, he will lose it. So foget about Henderson long balls. Salah is there to control them
You are going in circles, how come Rashford and Martial control and score off passes from Pogba and when he doesn't play, the supply is lacking? Abi you want to feign ignorance of how many times Rashford has scored off a ball over the top from Pogba?
You made a careless assertion that Liverpool's front 3 and to a lesser extent their fullbacks are key to creating chances noting that their midfield is average. I corrected that assertion. Salah, Mane and Firmino will struggle if they played for us.
Any other manager and he'd be sounding out to the board to make some signings in the face of the injury crisis rocking the club but not Ole, him boy boy is just too annoying.
A40: Let us judge Klopp with a team where his best players cannot be poached. There's no telling how far he would have gone at Dortmund if he wasn't losing his best players every season either to us or some other European team.
After coming so close last season I never would have imagined Liverpool would be able to muster this kind of effort. 58 points from 60. And the more titles they win the stronger the mentality. You EPL people should be very afraid
You are right. Irrespective of the rivalry, I admire that team, the commitment of the players is admirable especially at a time where social media is taking its toll on talented footballers...
Eruditor: If you think the value of Fabinho to Liverpool is the same as Laporte to City. E reach to laugh.
Remember I said that a player is the best does not mean he is not replaceable. For e.g Leicester can survive for a few with Vardy out even though he is better than Iheanacho. Just like City survived without KdB last season. But surviving without Laporte for 6 months is not the same. City conceded 23 goals all season in the EPL last year but this season they have already conceded 24.
We will get back to this point of yours when Laporte is back fit and City keeps conceding.
That's how Dayo in a bid to rubbish Van Dijk Said Liverpool's defensive solidity had more to do with Allison and when Allison started conceding, he brought Matip into the picture...
elampiro: How is this Liverpool midfield more creative than ours? Liverpool's strength is clearly in their front three men.
My observation: 1. Mane's drop to midfield below the half way line to initiate the most dangerous runs from midfield to attack. Something none of our forwards can do even the number 10.
2. Defenders overlap, one or two midfield players drop to central defence, mostly Milner.
If you give Liverpool three front men to United, our midfielders would be more creative.
Please stop it already. With Trent Alexander Arnold and Robertson joining the attack, Liverpool have a front 5. What this means is that Firmino can easily drop a little deep whilst Mane and Salah find their way to the box.
The midfielders you think aren't creative are excellent ball carriers, they drive with the ball at top speed into the opposition's half taking out one or two players in the process. Henderson is also there with his excellent long passes (Up through as gamers will say). In our set up, only Pogba is better than Henderson when it comes to those cross field balls and through passes. This season, against Everton, Henderson created at least 3 clear cut chances releasing Mane through on goal vs Pickford with just a ball over the top. What else is creativity? Wijnaldum beating his marker with pace and power whilst driving forward before releasing the ball to the overlapping Robertson is also creativity. You make the mistake of thinking creativity is when someone releases the ball to an attacker through on goal.
I don't even want to talk about Van Dijk and his epic long diagonals from defence, that is a huge weapon there. Wolves also have Coady who is adept at those devastating long passes, which was handy against City.
In all, Liverpool have creative players from Allison whose kicking is 90% of the time pinpoint accurate to Van Dijk to their overlapping fullbacks to Henderson to runners like Wijnaldum/Chamberlain/Keita to their front 3...It's a functional unit and not just their front 3.
Chrisus: And he'll most likely play against an aggressive Wolves side on Saturday followed by City on Tuesday.
Nobody to even step in for him. Chineke!!
When you have a go at that useless coach, some people will come to his defense...We are short of bodies in midfield and that Norwegian idiot is talking of team Chemistry...If anything happens to Ole, put the blame on me...
