I must say i enjoy the comments on that forum quite a bit when i've nothing better to do.lol..effing trolls like stront, ricky cash etc why has the comments section been disabled or is it my internet connection? Anyone else cant view comments? |

Ihejirika only performed his duties as an army chief albeit some highhandedness. if I want to steal money from my father's wardrobe and I have a brother who is very bad or a habitual thief, I'll.be bright enough to leave clues that will make my brother the prime suspect, his innocence notwithstanding. its called "THROWING A DOG OFF HIS SCENT" the above analogy suffices in explaining the Australian dudes' story. while he might.be telling the truth, I think the boko guys were a tad smarter. here goes... ALI MODU SHERIFF: was instrumental in creating the sect in his bid to sustain political power. made away with the group when he achieved same. after realising the monster he had unwittingly created, came down hard on the sect indiscriminately killing their members and killing their leader extra judicially(refer to Salkida's terrific revelation on the sect here). this created a deep seated hatred and animosity for him by the surviving sect. reason why he's been protected by all that security apparatus even more than the Borno Governor. I'll forfeit my last shag(and hell yeah it was good!) that if boko haram succeed in having sheriff's head this morning, they will be out of borno by nightfall. BOKO HARAM'S REASONING: create trouble for him by naming him as sponsor and why lose an opportunity to get a pound of flesh off your arch enemy? Gen. IHEJIRIKA: Fine soldier! dealt with the sect militarily. did not allow them breathing space and were enormously frustrated during his tenure as army chief. hell yeah, would be nice implicating this gentleman and cause him some trouble with the government. at least his reputation will be taken a dig at. BOKO HARAM POSITION.: Name him sponsor. cause further disaffection and disunity among the rank and file of the military and by so doing crumple the war effort. UNAMED CBN OFFICIAL(SANUSI ANYONE?). As CBN chief, was probably approached to sponsor the insurgency. most likely refused the overture. principled gentleman to the core and patriot. would not want to soil his reputation dealing with terrorists. probably told em boys to go fckk themselves! BOKO HARAM POSITION: Name him sponsor. teach him a lesson on how not to be a respected northerner. also serve as an example to other non cooperating northern bigwigs. CONCLUSION: metinks the story has only be half told. certain Nigerians in high places known who these sponsors are. Ihejirika should come out and speak like the true patriot that he is no matter whose ox is gored. it will save us a lot of time and trouble. Briareos: This is your initial statement -->I beg to disagree as it seems you are missing a very important point. I am an avowed proponent/believer of Black conciousness but i'm sorry to say, the black man is yet to shed his inherent MISTRUST for persons of a diverse linguistic identity especially if housed within the same geographical location. Note that the keyword here is TRUST!especially given his penchant for stereotype. I am from the middle belt where the distance between two tribes and/or dialect could be as much as a strong man could throw a stone and i know how easy it is to classify a certain tribe as primitive or uncivilised not taking into account our own faults of course. What i'm saying in effect is that, it is imperative that tribes/languages/cultures assimilate and absorb each other as quickly as possible until as to such a time when we can have more "manageable" fractions like the US or other Western democracies where these things count to a lesser degree. The Somalia situation is a one off. Africans have been known to harbour misgivings about a certain tribe or two to more than a healthy degree and this is not about to change soon. Until then, i'l still call a Tiv man a beast because of his rude and rather violent disposition when slightly provoked and an Igede man Lazy because of his rather naive manner of leaving his very fertile soil to farm another man's own for money. 1 Like |

Nice thread. May i also add that i served in Fana town, Kebbi state in 2013. The original language of the inhabitants of the town is KABAWA and KANGAWA;- these languages are almost extinct as they are spoken only by a motley few mostly elderly people. The hausa/fulani raiders established their culture and language and as such is the dominant language spoken in these parts. However, a tiny minority of the town(the JABARAMA) still speak JABARAMA-this might be in part to sucessful resistance to Usman dan fodio's hordes and a civilization that spreads to present day Niger and Benin republics. |

These are the kind of topics that should make front page and thus gather a wider audience. By doing so, we can learn a whole lot more about our history. I remember how max sioullon-respected nigerian author of military and political history and a nairalander of yore(been long i saw this gentleman and legend on this site) created very revealing and historically enriching threads on nairaland which never made front page. No single person can ever have or collect all the facts about a piece of history! The least we can do is glean off bits from key actors, collaborators and "passers-by". For instance, i just learnt from reading this same topic on linda ikeji's blog that Ifeajuna had two sons- one who was a high jumper(obviously took in his father's footsteps) and another who is a professor now. This comment was made by an anonymous poster. We can get such important tidbits on here from a forum as large as nairaland- something you would probably never see/read from a history book! |

dejt4u: arabic and islam is very different.. Arabic is just the language of the arabians i.e the language is used by all irrespective of the religion..That doesn't negate the strange fact that a language supposedly alien to any indigenous Nigerian tribe and which came about as a result of religious conquests by Arabian marauders should appear on a very important Nigerian establishment like the Nigerian Army. Flipping through a not-too-recent Nigerian army SOJA magazine, i noticed an inscription underneath the official logo of the Nigerian army. On closer inspection, i saw it to be an arabic one. Any reason why it should be so? Islamisation, arabinization, Northernisation of Nigeria's supposedly most "Nigerian" organisation? Matured comments please..
