doxijaw: Darwin says that the gap between civilized man and his closest evolutionary ancestor will widen. The gap will eventually be between civilized man “and some ape as low as a baboon, instead of as at present between the negro or Australian and the gorilla” (201). Read that last line again if you missed it: Darwin’s theory claims that Africans and Australians are more closely related to apes than Europeans are. The spectrum of organisms is a hierarchy here, with white Europeans at the top and apes at the bottom. In Darwin’s theory, colored people fall somewhere in between. Modern human is essentially restricted only to white Europeans, with all other races viewed as somehow sub-human. doxijaw, say more on this theory. Will appreciate a link to a site or PDF. Thanks. |

happney65: Remembered Obasanjo's late ADC from 1999..Dude never ever laughed no matter the type of jokes Obasanjo ever cracked..used to look at him behind OBJ and wondered the type of military training he had..No laugh,No smiles. Just there.A towering figure behind the President.
Subsequent ones in latter administration did not carry the kind of aura or charisma he had..There was something about him that was very noticeable by discerning minds..No wonder Obasanjo choose him
May his soul rest in peace. What's his name? |

Naptu2, wouldn't you consider the promotion of Col ML abubakar as too rapid considering he was just a major in 2015 when Buhari came into power? What has the officer done to justify his rapid rise to colonel from.Major in just 5 years? |

The OP should do more research on the service chiefs before asking us to "meet" them. The reports on these officers seem hastily put together and poorly articulated. When you put reports on military offfixers together, you go as far as telling us how many times they shine their boots in a day, how they like their coffee and the number of pet dogs they have. This is aside other exploits of gallantry and service achievements. Its how its done all over the world. From the hasty threads on nairaland front page, it is obvious the OP is not a military enthusiast. |

And your submission is spot on. Everyone is always angry in Lagos; too busy and always in a haste. A typical Lagosian will struggle for the first few months should they find themselves in a serene, quiet state.

Blueelf: Very.
But it's the directors fault. He didn't shoot it well. You only do that when the terrorists are really close. And I mean in full view. Na director's mistake Certainly. That is why movies have consultants. There should be a standby combatant officer to advice them on these things. |

Politics › Re: Armed Forces Day: Nigeria Is Stronger Together – Osinbajo by patwilly(m): 7:38am On Jan 11, 2021 |
Rugaria: It's wrong to make January 15th the armed forces remembrance day. This was obviously done to keep hate alive as the country attempts to milk as much evil as she can from the events of that day in 1966 in this perennial fight against a segment of the country. The officers who rearranged the dates to make this day the army day of celeberation are the same officers who have spent their lifetime trying to make it look like the coup on that day was an ethnic coup. These same officers were later involved in several coups while projecting themselves as patriots! During the Ihejirika regime as the CoAS under Jonathan, one Theophilus danjuma was invited to address the troops at Kaduna during this sort of celebrations. The corrupt one spent the whole time explaining to officers why they should not forget how some people killed their leaders on this day for nothing. This was a man who has been a former army Chief and a former defence minister! It all shows that the main reason behind this ritual is to perpetually incubate hate and keep the faulty narrative that the the events behind the date were tribally motivated. Video to Danjuma's speech please. Thank you. |

Racoon: Privileged people promoting our cultture! OBJ even had his wedding in London.Meanwhile, what really happened that thing went awry between him and Brig.Gen.Gordon Alabi-Isama? Can any of them tell the truth of what that is in between? Apparently, when OBJ took over 3MCDO from Adekunle in 1969, then Lt. Col G. Alabi Isama was chief of staff responsible for coordinating the war effort in that sector of the war. OBJ trying to assert himself consistently ignored Alabi's war strategy (Operations Pincer 1,2&3) and met with several battle failures/reversals. Preharps angered by Alabi's towering presence in 3MCDO, Obj in later 69 posted the young colonel to 1div under Illiya Bissalla. Frustrated at OBJs continued blunders, Lt.Col Akirinade dusted OP Pincer 2 maps, set up his command post and led the advance that ended the Nigerian civil war. Now here's the contentious part, Alabi's was later forcefully pushed out of the army in 1979 when Obj was head of state. Alabi's claims his leaving the army was carefully orchestrated by Obj who had never liked his face since the war days and with the active connivance of his classmate Gen. Danjuma who had other reasons for not liking Alabi's. Also, OBJ would go on to publish my command, crediting the final victory of the federal forces to a dubious "operation Tailwind ". Alabi says there was never any operation tailwind and goes on to assert that the book, My command was a tale of lies. So piqued was Alabi, that he credits the writing of his much vanted book- The tragedy of Victory to correcting/setting straight the base lies/records in OBJs book. There you have it. |

Khaytunechi: I have read Pillars Of The Earth by Ken Follet. It is one of the finest stories I've read. Would be really nice to see a movie/series tailored after the story. This site's tough to access. Pillars of the Earth has season one and two if I'm not mistaken. Features ian mcshane, Eddie redmayne and Hayley Atwell. I was particularly enamored by Hayley Atwell I remember. Fine actress she is. |
