Romeo3: I stopped using Mobil oil for my 2007 toyota camry v6 and started using total. and my oil stopped drying up I do not feel the type of oil matters, even if you use Mobil 1 or Toyota oil 5w 30, the oil will still get short with time. I have used different Corolla and Camry models same issues.By the way which Total are you using? |

The number one cause for engine knock in Toyota Camry and Corolla is the engine oil getting dried up. Users of this car brands should always check their oil level. Unlike other cars the oil gets burnt out as you drive the car. |

Your story was quite sad but I believe you did not defend yourself very well when you were accused. A video showing you putting on your shirt in her room is not enough evidence. I hate false accusation, if I were you as far as my hands are clean I will go to any extent to prove my innocence. If it means going to a shrine to swear both of us will do it. False accusation is more deadly than being shot with a gun. People have died, some in jail, families torn apart due to false accusation. I will never accept it. |

I will advise you run away from some of these problematic cars they are introducing you too. Avoid Nissan Altima, Honda EOD, Passat, Mazda. Go for that Toyota Camry (Big daddy), tell the seller to bit the price down a bit. My best advice is for you to save like 1.2M and go for a Tokunbo Pencil light Camry, later you can upgrade to more better cars. |

Kudanis: I don't know why the guys in this forum from Edo and Delta are underrating Port Harcourt in terms of pidgin language. No doubt Benin and Warri are good in pidgin but there is hardly a pidgin a Benin or Warri person will flow that a Port Harcourt person will not understand. Some folks in Port Harcourt can't speak their dialect, can't speak good english either except pidgin. .... In earlier pages of this thread, some people(I guess guys from Delta) were talking about the pidgin slogan "u don baff"... I've been using "u don baff" since I was in primary school... Or is it "abeg push me H*, when senior bros shake body I go square you back"?....or "bro, u dey cap careless".... ... To me, these are normal pidgin that everyone would understand. I've met people here in Port Harcourt who came from Benin and Warri, yes, they have unique accent but we seem to relate very well in pidgin. Port Harcourt rocks in terms of pidgin. Pidgin is the daily means of communication on the street of Port Harcourt. It is not issue of under rating PH Pidgin. The difference is as clear as a Nigerian speaking English and a British man speaking English. It is annoying to hear a PH person saying "leaving me A" instead of "free me",Dey your own , abeg leave me or stay your lane. You also hear a Lagosian saying "shea you sabi me".The beauty of Warri Pidgin is that they have 10 different words or expressions to represent something. Pidgin in Benin are still okay but they listen and marvel when a "proper old Warri" speaks Pidgin. |

harizonal123: Warri, Sapele, Benin are 123 for me in that order. I put Sapele ahead of Benin cos they don't make use of their local dialect there unlike Benin u see people speaking beinn everywhere. In pH they speak pidgin,I agree but a very simple and diluted form of it Guy you have said it all. It is sad to see people mention Lagos, PH, Abuja,Owerri, when it comes to Pidgin.Lagos wants to claim top in everything even when they know they stand no chance. When you hear I Go Die speak pidgin and you hear Seyi law or someone from PH that is when you know who speak the real Pidgin. Lagos population does not matter, a small city like Sapele speaks one of the best Pidgin in Nigeria.Effurun/Ekpan are on another level.Warri should come top, followed by Sapele,Effurun and Benin. All other cities are not worthy of mention as far Pidgin is concern. |

My tank is 60litres, previously full tank last me for almost 10 days, but now barely 5 days it is gone. I drove from Benin with full tank and when I got to Lagos half tank was left, but now am not sure full tank can take me from Benin to Lagos. |

TRYGO: @paulavon. You've for to tell your electrician to revert back to its factory status. He may argue and tell you, "Oga our weather de hot here, and oyibo own de cold. Keane am like that". Tell him, you just want it the way it was before. Shikenan.
PS: If I get you correctly, that means your car's cooling fans only comes on when the Ac system is switched ON. If you don't put it on, it means your engine might(overheats)? That means the fan's being controlled manually by you.? The fan was working normally before,it usually get on without AC but all of a sudden it stopped working except I put on the AC. I will meet the electro to reverse it. |

@sunnymoore. You're right o! Gradually "killing" that car.
@paulavon. paulavon :
Should the radiator fan(s) be automatically be connected to the ignition system, such away that it comes on when the ignition system is ON? NO
Please I want you to explain the effect of this point,An Auto electrician did this in my car since then the sound changed and the fuel consumption became high. I drive a Toyota corolla sport. No.
This is the reason y the sound changed. I want to believe you meant the sound of the engine(or fan?). If its the fan, the fan is supposed to have a radiator fan ECU, or regulator, ....that works in consonance with the fan relays, engine coolant temperature sensor, and the engine thermostat. When the operating temperatures of the engine exceeds a certain threshold, the ECU, in liaison with the engine coolant temperature sensor, commands the engine thermostat to open, thereby allowing in exchange of cold coolant from the outside, and the fan immediately comes on, intermittently. So, if your electrician has bypasses that protocol, there must be some issues along the circuit (electrical now), and not the fluid circuitry.
Effects of that bypass.
* increased noise, because the RPM of the Dan, has being increased, without any regulation, whatsoever.
* shorten fan lifespan. since the fan runs almost immediately the ignition. is turned to the ON position, the fan's bearings, undergo speedy rate of wearing. And that's the reason, you keep replacing fan(s) frequently. The conservative cost of fan(s) is approximately 5k. So, do the math. If in a year, you replace that fan, you'll have spend 60k already. That's the price of an engine for some 2000s cars. PS: You might be hearing a groaning kind of noise(maybe that's the noise you'd be referring to, I don't know), signaling the fan's bearing is about failing.
* excess fuel consumption. This is the dynamics. Part of the reasons automakers endure those fans work or comes on, only when the engine temperature has gotten to a certain temperature, is to help conserve fuel, or simply put, like the Americans would say, ratchet up the fuel economy, is that at those times when the fan doesn't come in, and the temperature of the engine is at minimum, THERE ISN'T EXTRA LOAD PLACED on the ENGINE, and the ECU(car's computer), isn't commanding the injection system to supply in more fuel to compensate for the unusually high demand(load, from frequent fan running). If that system has being compromised, you already have EXTRA LOADS COMING FROM THE FREQUENT RUNNING OF THE FANS, AND THE CONSEQUENT GROANING NOISE FROM THEM, WHEN THE BEARINGS ARE ABOUT FAILING; the end result, would be POOR FUEL ECONOMY.
Hope this answers your questions.

@unclezuma! I thought you even traveled to uncle's place? Emmmm, Pres Jacob Zuma na.
@ olaolulazo. Yes it does. If you know the history of that car already, and ... Basically, if you know the car's history, and maybe the operational dynamics of the previous owners. Thanks sunnymoore and Trygo for your insightful comments, I knew recently that my car is not working well,my car used to work cooly but now the sound is high. The problem started when my fan stopped working one day, it only comes on when I put on AC, if I off the AC the fan will go off. When I took it to the auto electrician, he worked on it and the fan starts working with or without AC. But it affected the car's RMP in the process so he had to adjust it from somewhere. If I put off the AC the RPM will go below 1 but if I put it on it will get to 1. I spend so much money on fuel now, please guys what can be done to reverse the situation? |

In line with your story, since you don't have much funds, you need to apply wisdom to avoid building only half way and tying your money down.
I will advise you set foundation for 3 bed room flat and one bedroom self contain, you focus on the one bedroom self contain and complete it, with less than 2 million you can complete it and pack in while you build the 3 bedroom flat later when you have the money.I know someone who did this and he is out of rent now. |

[/quote] Prosperousman: let me share my experience with you, I stocked 1700 catfish juveniles in my farm early august. I only bought 50kg of vital feed to boost their growth. when I ran out of feed, I fed them worms from my poultry farm, unfertile eggs from poultry hatchery and chicken mortality till date. thus I will be ready to sell the fishes January 2017. imagine what my profit would be like, even if I sell @ N400 per kg, I will still make profit. my advice is that you locate a farm that help you with worms, mortality and unfertile eggs and unhatched eggs. this will help reduce your cost of feeding. feel free to contact me for more info Thank you for sharing your experience, some people make catfish business look so expensive and hence discourage others from venturing. look at the way you improvised your feeding through alternative sources, and there are other means of feeding too to cut down cost. I state it again that even if you want to feed with foreign feeds all through you will still make profits. please explain more how you prepare the unhatched eggs before feeding? |
Agriculture › Re: Can One Still Break Even In Catfish Farming Or Profit by paulavon: 11:24am On Dec 28, 2016 |
PatrickOkunima: Obviously, you are not into the business. A bag of vital feed(local feed) is 6000. There is no way 300k will raise 1000 catfish to table size. Secondly, who will buy Catfish at 700 per kg. Op this is a very wrong time to venture into catfish farming ask any catfish farmer and they will confirm it. Most people are thinking of abandoning their farms myself inclusive. Thanks for assuming am not in the business and only you know about the business. Check my thread and tell me if you know the business more than me.If you keep selling your fishes at N500 then continue, others are selling up to N800 now. |
Agriculture › Re: Can One Still Break Even In Catfish Farming Or Profit by paulavon: 10:27am On Dec 28, 2016 |
There are still lots of profits in catfish farming. Even if you use foreign feeds all through you will still make profits. Assuming you raise 1000 fishes to table size which will not cost up to N300,000. Assuming you even get 800kg out of the 1000 fishes and you sell at N700 per kg, you will get N560,000. Which means you can still make N260,000. With good water management and stocking of good seeds, you spend less on feeds. |
