Sorry for the denial, it seems 6th December was a tough day at the embassy, i was denied same day. A lot of people left the embassy feeling sad.
2theoptimist:

Thank you bro, just a simple answer but Twoods chose to villify me. I think his long stay in the US is affecting him psychologically.
erniesail:
Yes u need to go with passport photograph.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by paulavon: 9:40am On Dec 05, 2017
Mr Twoods you have resumed your typical self. I appreciate the fact that you encourage Visa applicants to be diligent and forthright but your conclusions sometimes leave a sour taste in the mouth. I am one individual who rarely ask questions, I source for my information myself.I am 100% ready for my interview. In the US consulate website it wasn't stated amongst the requirements but someone told me so I just want clarify. Only God knows who is a genuine student, let no man pass judgement. You are a great guy though.

TWoods:
The US consulate in Nigeria has a website that can be easily accessed through google. If you went there, you could read all the instructions on how to apply for a visa and what you need to bring with you to your interview. The time wasted asking "questions" here could easily have been utilized more effectively.

It is my summation that you are not a genuine student.

Pls someone should respond to my question, amongst all the documents to take along for the interview no one has mentioned copy of passport photograph but someone told me it is required, how true pls?
paulavon:
Pls does one need to carry passport photo to the interview?

Which college exactly? For college admission in Texas you are required to either submit your high school(Neco or Waec) or your Bsc transcript evaluation, you don't need to submit both. In my case I did my Bsc transcript evaluation with Spantran evaluation agency, they are quite reliable. My friend did his Neco evaluation with them and it went fine.
femiart:
Hi everyone, please i applied to a college for AAS degree in texas and i was told to submit my transcript. High sch inclusive. And that the transcript should be evaluated by any reputable agency. Please which agency is reliable. I m looking to use my NECO result and my bsc transcript. Tnx

Sorry man for the denial, you just have to brace up.
You did very well in the interview but the problem I see here is the lack of correlation between your undergraduate course I.e computer science, working in a bank and going for masters in Maths and statistics.Masters in computer science or information technology would have made more sense with you working in the IT department. I wish you all the best as you refire.
jerrypeacelinks:
My people, indeed it takes courqge to come up here to post your denial transcript o. The moment I was denied, I felt livke the ground should open lemme fall into it or even disappear into thin air but now, it seems am better and stronger now emotionally.

Now, here comes my denial cry

Visa Interview Denied at the Lagos embassy today 7am. Consular was a dark American lady at Windows 9.

VO: Good morning. (No smiles whatsoever). Pass me your i-20 and passport.

Me: Good morning. (Me smiling and thinking, madam smile for once kwanu) I passed my documents)

VO: I see, you are going to study Maths and Statistics at TAMUK, Texas?

Me: (Smiling) Yes.

VO: What is your highest qualification?
Me: I hold a BSc in Computer Science.

VO: You said?
Me: I repeated.

VO: Okay. When did you graduate?

Me: November 2011.

VO: and since then what have you been doing?

Me: After my graduation, I embarked upon the compulsory NYSC experience which elapsed in 2013 and I secured a job at XYZ bank.

VO: Okay what do you do for them?

Me: I stated my responsibilities.

VO: How long have you been working ?

Me: over 3 years. January 2018 will make it 4 years at the bank.

VO: So what will this course do for you?

Me: It will equip me with the analytical and technical skills needed to flourish in my career. It will also help facilitate my promotion at my place of work.

VO: Why did you choose this school?

Me: Asides the fact that they offered me my concentration, they also offered me a free campus scholarship housing with an instate tuition waiver which will allow me enjoy paying my fees as an instate Texan resident.

VO: Quickly grabs my i-20 like say she b Russian grin. But I can't see any free housing scholarship on your i-20.

Me: Yes and that is because the email came later after i-20 was issued.

VO: Okay? Can I see the letter?

Me: I passed it.
VO: Nodding her head. Okay?

VO: How many schools did you apply to?

Me: I applied to three schools.

VO: Did you write any language test scores?

Me: Yes. I sat for toefl and GRE.

VO: Can I see them?

Me: Showed them.

VO: Okay? Tell me the requirement for this course.

Me: To complete this course, I will complete a total of 30 credit units of course work which include 18 credit unit of core course work, 6 units of elective, and 6 units of thesis. The course duration is 24months starting from January 10th 2018 and will end in December 2019.

VO: Sorry, can you take it all over again?

Me: I stated it again but in a remixed version. grin

VO: Have you travelled out of the country before?

Me: Not really. And that is because I have not had any reason to until after now.

VO: Okay? Who is your sponsor?

Me: My dad is my sponsor. He is this and that .

VO: Well, I will be issuing you (I come dey happy for my mind)... She continued... the denial paper, this is because you were not found eligible for a visa according to Section 214 (B) of the US Immigration and Nationality act. Blablabla.. The rest no even near my ear as I was like? What happened? (Maybe VO even heard me talking to myself). I had to hide my blue paper so that one of us a nairalander who was warming up for hers won't be demoralized.

I marched out like an old major ;Dwhile people dey hail me congrats sir, anything dey for the boys? In my mind, I was still asking, what happened?

House? Abeg make una gather come sit for my head o. At a time I wanted to ask VO if we can start the interview all over again.

Well? Denial is not failure though. I shall return to retire after the house is done sitting on top my matter.

Pls explain the process of funding a PayPal account?
tosinooo:
In my case, there were three courier service options,
DHL, FedEx, UPS. All with different prices. As a Nigerian, I went for the cheapest which was UPS, $92.80 and got my document 4days later paying through PayPal.

Pls how much did eship charge you to send down your i20 and what means did you use in paying the fee?
Thank you
calmman:
Good day wonderful people,
I have been a silent follower of this great thread, and I must confess you guys are doing a great job.

I have just received my Form i20 after having to pay for eShip only to discover that my Passport name was not entered on my Form i20 (the column was left blank). Other information were entered and correct.
Would there be an issue presenting this i20 for visa interview and/or at the POE? Has anyone seen such before?

Please I need your opinion/advice

My school does not send through courier, my friend helped me to pick it up, I just need cheaper means to send it to Nigeria.
temitope2598:
I thought schools should send this free of charge? Isn't this why application fee for international students is higher?
I think you should speak with your school official.
My school sent mine through UPS free of charge and sent me the tracking number, got it in 3days. Though I was asked if I'll prefer a friend or relative to pick it up for me.

Please does anyone here have idea how much it will cost to DHL my I-20 from Houston, Texas to Nigeria? My friend over there told me DHL charges $145, which I feel is too expensive. I will like to know cheaper alternatives to courier it down here.

Apologies accepted, no hard feelings. Keep on doing the nice job you are doing.
DeeTus:
Lol. Of course we are. I have nothing against anyone. But people should try to understand that our plans in life are different. My friends on Nairaland knew that I can never be in Warri just like that without something up there and they are like whatz up tell us more Na. These are the people who understand life.

For the guy I used the word "kindergarten" on, I am so sorry. It wasn't intentional and also for anyone who felt offended. I am really sorry. In fact, from now on, I would only comment if you quote me. I need to mind my business on here.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by paulavon: 6:11pm On Nov 11, 2017
I believe you can make your point without insulting someone. Because you are currently schooling in the US does not mean you know it all. Bigfrancis and others made their point without throwing insults. I am in my mid 30s, I have been to the US before, I am not sure you are qualified to call me a kindergarten. Let us end this issue in peace.
DeeTus:
Don't mind that dude. He sounds like a kindergarten.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by paulavon: 4:42pm On Nov 10, 2017
Discouraging people from applying to community colleges is very wrong. Not everyone is interested in going for their masters, people have their different reasons for going to study in the US. Someone with WAEC should be encouraged to go for an associate degree and graduate in 2 yeas, there are lots of job opportunities for associate degree holders.
DeeTus:
Encouraging people to apply for visa with CC is totally deceptive and woeful. Would you also be willing to pay visa fee for them at the bank?

SHM for you!!! undecided
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by paulavon: 6:09pm On Nov 09, 2017
There is nothing wrong if someone above 30 is sponsored by his parents.People are quick to believe on certain myths. That was how they claimed community colleges are red flags, but in reality Nigerians still fill up those schools.
tboii:
We can just prepare for any question asked by the Vo but at the same time we should also consider some answer that might keep the VO wondering .. for example you are above 30, working and your father is still the one sponsoring you might keep them wondering.. how is your traveling going to be beneficial to your sponsor.. only if you are working in your father company ..instead of that why not tell them your father is paying for your schooling and you paying for hostel and feeding.. because even in the USA every student has right to student loan and the student pay back the loan when they are working.. so most parent don’t sponsor their child at college or university level... I might not be absolute right about dis just saying my view

Greetings to the house, please I want to find out how easy it will be to process F2 visa for my kids later if i cannot achieve that right now due to the fact that they don't have passports. The school only accepted to process I-20 for my wife and I. Getting passports for my kids now will delay my i-20.

Hello House and experience people like @Lagosismyhome, and @bigfrancis21,

Please, as a Graduate student on F1 Visa, what type of business petty things can your wife do in the US legally to keep busy as well as support financially while with you in US on F2 dependent Visa?

Is there any hand work/skills she can learn in Nigeria before coming that she can use legally? Am aware dependent are not allowed to take up employment while on F2 Visa.

Thanks in anticipation.

I appreciate your response

TheGreat342:
Bros, fill in your dependents in your form(s) and a question will be asked if you want them to accompany you to the US. Just tick 'NO'. Filling your dependents information will be easier if you want them to join you later. All the best bros. Please, be sincere when filling the form(s) so as not to jeopardize chance of your family coming to join you in the US.
