Did you correspond it with the huge debt She & Amosu the Gov. is leaving for the State?..... Can this Igr pay for that huge debt?.
Most of Ogun's debt are owed due to Federal projects the state government embarked on. That's why Ogun is the most owed state by the FG, about 200B+ as released by the House of rep in March.

Remove FG's debt from Ogun's debt, what you're left with is nothing much.

Obviously, the South West figure of 71B excluding Lagos is made up of FIVE states compared to South East's 61B from FOUR States, doesn't really show any supremacy of those SW states..
PaulJohn1:
Eboyin's 2014 IGR was used for 2015 summation of Southeastern states, which is the 62,726,688,189 the OP posted.

Except you're being delusional that Ebonyi generated x2 of what was generated in 2014 for 2015. Anything short of that, SE ranks below SW(excluding Lagos)
That was my response to someone who had same opinion as yours. SE's IGR for 2015 = 62,726,688,189 for the whole 5 states in SE (Eboyin's 2014 IGR was added to the rest SE to come up with the 2015 SE IGR).

BTW, Higher IGR doesn't translate to supremacy.

Yinmu. The OP added the previous year's Ebonyi 11-billion to arrive at that figure for the SE yet the SW still tops your region by almost 10-billion. Even if we're to add an extra 5-billion to the official Ebonyi numbers (which it it is highly unlikely that Ebonyi would attain), SW still tops y'all minus Lagos. wink
He clearly didn't know or forgot the OP already used Eboyin's 2014 IGR for the 2015 Summation of SE's IGR.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian States By Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) - 2015 by PaulJohn1: 2:13pm On Apr 15, 2016
Ariani:
No, SW if we subtract Lagos will be below SE
Remember that Ebonyi is yet to present her own figures, and from 2014 report, Ebonyi tops all SE states, so going by that, Ebonyi figures will be in the top 10 of this year's ranking since the highest ranked SE state as it stands is in top 10, and that will be good enough for SE to topple SW sans Lagos.
Eboyin's 2014 IGR was used for 2015 summation of Southeastern states, which is the 62,726,688,189 the OP posted.

if you remove all lagos components , for instance the revenue going to ogun because of its proximity to Lagosor better still compare 4 south west states to 4 south east states and the result will be clearer.

Ogun state is growing as a result of the proximity to lagos and not because of any fantastic governor or entrepreneurial spirit or any natural or people resource
"Remove the component(oil) that made Rivers and Delta generate such revenue and their IGR won't be impressive". Does this statement make any sense to you?

That doesn't look realistic in anyway. Rivers IGR doubled that of Delta. Perhaps if there is an economic breakthrough in Delta, the state could close up her IGR with Rivers after years .

South West excluding Lagos 71,728,635,492
Very low but not bad based on Nigerian standard.

That figure puts SouthWest on third position for regional ranking

1. Lagos = 268,224,782,435

2. South South = 179,096,237,974

3. South West(excluding Lagos) = 71,728,635,492

4. South East Total = 62,726,688,189

5. North West Total = 48,579,503,540

They are obviously not 'fighting' for 'federal presence'. But the fact is if there had been federal presence (good living and job opportunity) earlier, there wouldn't have been militancy in the ND at all.

PoliticsRe: The Truth Behind This Calabar Lagos Railway Project, compare With Ibaka Sea Port by PaulJohn1: 8:32pm On Apr 11, 2016
Those who term this 'cal-Lag railway confusion' a conspiracy against the development of the SS by the SWners and the Northerners should understand this, no serious economical development project that can maximally boost the economy of any region has really been executed by the FG. Almost all the existing infrastructures that REALLY affect Nigeria's economy were built by those who founded Nigeria. Lagos sea/air port, existing Lag-Kano railway, Lag-Ibadan express, Benin-Sagam express...

If we've had reasonable and dedicated government in Nigeria, minimum of 4 of the country's 8 coastal states would have seaports. There would be to and fro railway in these connections below:
1. Lag-Sokoto-Maiduguri-Calabar-Lagos.
2. Calabar-Abuja-Sokoto
3. Lagos-Abuja-Maiduguri.

As much as I agree with the OP that a deep seaport is very well needed in the SS, Lag-Cal coastal railway line is not less important.

You're right,

but is it safe to defend the CBN recruitment saga by saying: CBN is meant for the sons and daughters of the rich and the elites? Given the fact that these folks are less prone to fraud, unlike poor kids who have never seen brand new dollars & pounds?

Please do not quote quota system or Federal Character. Remember, private firms also have their corporate and recruitment strategy, and I've never seen any written form of discrimination. They all claim one thing on paper, and do another in reality.
When it is time to defraud clients, they'll smile and dine with an Hausa man from Usmanu Danfodio University, but when it's time to recruit, they would immediately remember their redundant alma mata, without given others any chance to prove their worths.

Anyway, I'm not mad at the employers, whoever denies me any position is at loss.
The CBN is a government organization and not private. 'Discrimination' from private firms employers can still be tolerated, not from a government organization like CBN.
NB: I'm not in support of the 'discrimination' from the private firms.

Pidggin:
Okay, i mentioned SW and North because of the voting pattern in the presidential election 2015, which was largely based on tribal sentiments than anything else. Why am I saying this? Because GEJ's achievements have been consistently downplayed by people within these regions.

If you can mention any year before Buhari's presidency where Fulani herdsmen have killed more than twenty people, I will withdraw my previous statement and apologize.

From 2015 to March 2016 INEC has declared more elections inconclusive than it did in the whole 16 years of PDP rule.

If anything like what happened with the issue of Jamb ever occurred in the history of Nigeria, please counter with facts.

What is causing the present forex problem? Government unfavorable policy IMO government 's refusal to devalue the Naira. Ans this, if you have access to forex at the official rate in a country where govt doesn't sell to Bureau de Change wouldn't market forces e. g. demand for the currency determine the rate at which you sell to the black market or what would you do with in such a case?

We don't need 24 months to predict the direction of any government, averagely it takes six months for one to be able to make a correct assessment of a govt.
If we're to go by 2015 election result statistics, the South-West and North-Central voting pattern shows they had most votes void of sentiments when compared to those of South-South and South-East, with over 90% of the votes given to a candidate. Whereas, no candidate had up to 60% of the votes in the SW and NC.
Based on 2015 presidential election stat, the SW seems to have the greatest percentage of votes void of sentiments. With the list Voters turnout and closest margin between the two main candidates.

See the tables below.

None of the SW states (excluding Lagos) has ever had a political party win the governorship election for straight 3 terms, since the return of democracy. No zone in Nigeria have such record.

Your observation is just the reality @op.

Majority of us are too localised and don't have good idea of what's happening in other sides outside our locality, aside for reasonable amount of Easterners who leave their enclaves for opportunities (and not even to understand the people and the places they move to). I believe this is one thing that should be checked to have a better unified country, especially the SW people. Met a graduate some years back who has never stepped outside Lagos since he was born. Moving in a 999.6 km² space for over 20 years. sad It's a major reason tribalism, intolerance etc still exist.
PoliticsRe: Why Is ONNE, Calabar & Delta Sea Port Under Utilized. by PaulJohn1: 5:36pm On Feb 18, 2016
kayfra:
Wrong assumption.

Onne and the other ports in that area are responsible for most of our crude oil exports. The price for insecurity is just added to the cost of producing and distributing crude. It's the main reason why our crude has an artificial $10 a barrel in cost or so for insecurity and instability.

Buhari's response is deploying the navy and army to that area to secure it but a lot of people will call it militarization etc etc. Just a bunch of ignorant people.
It's good to know The navy has been deployed to those areas to curb piracy. Just hope it's given the same attention Lagos port will get if its faces this same problem. As for those calling the action militarization, they should be ignored.
PoliticsRe: Why Is ONNE, Calabar & Delta Sea Port Under Utilized. by PaulJohn1: 4:56pm On Feb 18, 2016
Good question @ op.

Also been wondering how a nation with potentials and population as huge as Nigeria have only one functional port for import and export (except crude oil)
Very unreasonable. Imagine if Lagos port is attacked or something goes wrong, then the whole country that is not self sufficient in almost all sectors get static.

If the government (states & Fed) is serious, piracy and other factors raised by earlier posters are things that can be well handled. The FG feel relaxed about piracy in other ports because one is functional (lagos). A progressive government won't think this way. But will stive to make all ports functional at whatever cost. The benefits are just unlimited: Employment, Development, De-congestion.
In a functional Nigeria, minimum of 4 of the nation's 8 coastal states should have a port and at least an inland port.
Lagos, Ogun/Ondo, Delta/Bayelsa, Rivers, AI/CR should have a port.
