Umartins1: of course it should. The governor declared openely that he paid for its construction. And if its the truth, his presence in the town should ginger the Local Government Authority to at least grade the road to have something to show for the money he paid. Everyone that passes by the road either rains curse on Aregbe or on the embarrasing ACN. So because the contractors have been paid, they should be silly by making substandard roads that won't last long in rainy season, just to show that work is in progress? Mr. Think deep |

Umartins1: The fact that this type of craps is on the road of one of the states in our country is absurd. I posted the pix should an important figure sees it and make amendments. Some crazy f a g g o t t s pop out with rubbishes they call post! *smh* Why result to all these when you know you have no concrete point to support your post? Can't you guys be civil for ones? Umartins1: does this answers my inquiry? Should an area be an urban settlement before it can be considered by government? Are the roads in the pix inviting? And the road as been in this filthy state for 2months. Of course it shouldn't. Like I said earlier, the pictures you posted shows that road is under construction. Look at the newly built drainage path at the sides. Think for your self, how do you expect bitumen to stick well to the ground with water in it? Come back to condemn the government of Osun after this coming dry season if that road remains the same |

bashr8: exactly the same with ore road and ibadan lagos road, what do all these roads have in common with osun , they are all scams. how come the roads inside abuja city and enugu , akwaibom, calabar, owerri etc are perfect?
they played the same politics with onitsha owerri road for over 8 years , the same raining dry season excuse . You omitted the post where a guy from Owerri said roads in Owerri are abandoned till dry season. Read the first page of this thread over. I was in abuja but I didn't see any road been tared presently. Clearing and smoothning of a path(to be converted to road) is not the same as taring. |

Ikire is no bigger than Ejigbo, Ila, Ikirun, Coming here to yarn rubbish and this is not even Ikire, Its Apomu a small town beside Ikire.
Apomu is to Ikire, what Oluponna is to Iwo Dayo, didn't know you know so much about Osun like this That Umartins don't know anything in Osun except Ikire |

bashr8: he should respect himself. why should he give raining season as excuse for the roads being in that terrible state, like i mentioned before theres no such think as raining and dry season when it comes to road construction in enugu. we should stop believing cheap lies from politicians. same applies to abuja there is no such thing as raining and dry season when t comes to road construction there. i was not trying to compare both states i just made him realise how silly that cheap old excuse is. I was in Abuja of recent, the Abuja-Lokoja xpress is not so much in progress. It was halted due to rainy season factor. Do want to tell me those contractors don't know what's best for their work? NB: it's a federal road |

Umartins1: you Know Ikire or you just passed through Ikire? I think the difference is clear. Mentioning the top 5 urban areas in Osun, Ikire is only 4th to Osogbo, Ife and Iwo. By the way, does a settlement has to be an urban centre before they can enjoy the dividend of democracy? You can't know Osun than I do MR. And you're right about the part in bold. But you need to understand that the pix you posted shows that, that road in Ikire is undergoing construction. And about your ratings, it makes me laugh. Ikire can't even be in the top seven Here is what you should have make your list look like Oshogho Ilesha Ife Ede Iwo Ikirun Ila Ijebu Ijesha Ikire |

Umartins1: you call Isokan Local Government a 'thick local area'? Sir, you must be high on Cannabis. If you're truly from Osun, you must know the place called Ikire. Between, I'm not an indigen of Osun. But of what good am I if I cant speak on behalf of the town where I live? You must have heard of a popular banana product called 'dodo Ikire',. That is to tell you of the popularity of the Local Government. Even if we are to say its a local area, does a good administration concentrates its work on the urban centres alone? By the way, can you solely point out at 5 good achievements of Aregbe Rascal in Osogbo? Mr Umartins, why are you trying to make a boring joke funny? Of course I know Ikire, and you want to judge the popularity of the towm based of one popular snack there? You can't even mention Ikire when listing top five urban centres in Osun, and you painted Ikire as if it's one big settlement. Or is it not Ikire after Ibaden when coming to Oshogbo you're talking about? MR, let me know your agender, and stop pretending to be one guy who's concerned with issues in Osun |

Honestly, I don't need any evidence/point to know that you're an anti ACN, which has made up blind to positive actions of the governor. I'm indifferent in Politics, but we have to be factual when needed and stop lying |

dayokanu: if you have your own personal agenda state it clearly.
But even a blind man can see that work is on going on the road. The drainage are new and you self alluded to that.
How many road projects get done when the whole place is flooding? The reasonable thing was to do the drainage and wait till the rain reduces.
The people thanking Ogbeni probably saw improvement or on going work. maybe they witnessed the drainage being constructed recently, maybe they witnessed truck load of sand being deposited lately. So they know that work is going on
You said Since June. Everyone in Nigeria knows Rainy season is between April and November. If by this time next yr nothing is still being done then your cries would be justified Thanks DayoKano. I don't know the OP's obsession with ACN or Aregbe. From those explanations some reasoning people have given earlier on this thread, I think the OP should have understand better. He definately has an hidden agender that he's not letting out. I'm presently in Oshogbo and it's not the way this OP is painting Aregbe. No matter your field of specialiZation, a right thinking person should know that it is not reasonable to tare roads in raining season. Had it been there wasn't drainages at the sides of the road, it would have been possible to fault the governor. Also OP, that your local government or town is even one of list of the thick local areas and construction reaches the place, you should applaud the governor for this. Some state governors only concentrate on the state capital and may be one more city to develop in the state.
Last time I checked, June is still rainy season!! In december, come back and show us this road!! Until then, this case is adjourned!! COURT!!!..
|
Politics › We've Done Our Best On Flooding - FG Declares by PaulJohn1(op): 8:52am On Sep 27, 2012 |
The Federal Government cannot do more than it is currently doing to ameliorate the sufferings of flood victims in various states of the federation, the Minister of Environment, Hadiza Mailafia has said.
Ms. Mailafia stated this on Wednesday at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting, at the State House, Abuja. Though not on its agenda, the Council, Wednesday, discussed the flooding in various states of the country concluding that the Federal Government had done its best in the flood situations.
Ms. Mailafia said the blames on the government were unnecessary as floods were not peculiar to Nigeria. “With the kind of technology put in place in the United State, they still had flooding there. In China and even our neighbour Niger, an arid land, they are experiencing flooding,” she said.
Despite the complaint by victims, rescue agencies, Red Cross officials, and civil society groups, that there was poor and insufficient assistance to flood victims in various states, Ms. Mailafia said the Government could not do better than it has done. “For anyone to think that government has not done or there was something that we needed to do that we have not done, is a title bite awesome because there is a limit to which you can fight nature,” she said.
The Minister said that what the government had done in a “couple of months is consistently to educate people, calling the attention of government and individuals of the need to move away from flood plains.”
Other ministers also spoke on resolutions reached at the meeting, as it concerns their ministries. FG to open by-pass on Abuja-Lokoja road The Federal Government has also directed the opening of a bye-pass along the Lokoja-Abuja road, on Thursday. The bye-pass will enable movement along the road which has been shut to traffic since Sunday.
The Minister of Works, Mike Onolemenme, said this at the end of the FEC meeting which was presided over by the Vice President, Namadi Sambo. Mr. Onolemenme said the bye-pass which has been created around the flooded area would be opened for motorists by Thursday.
He also said government has engaged construction giants in the country, to create the bye-pass as a temporary measure to ease the suffering of commuters on the road. “What we have been doing since yesterday morning is that around the flooded area, we identified a bye-pass which we have created,” Mr. Onolemenme said adding that the road has reached 60 per cent completion.
“We have done a diversion at those drainages, and vehicles will be able to now drive normally through this bye-pass without having recourse to canoes on our roads as a result of the flooding that happened. “For us, that was a national priority because we needed to open that particular transport corridor so that movement between the Southern States and the Northern States will not be impaired,” the minister added.
FEC approves N7b for 16m school textbooks The Federal Executive Council also approved the purchase of 16 million textbooks and library resources materials for distribution to all public primary schools and Junior Secondary Schools across the country.
The Minister of State for Education, Ezenwo Wike, said the textbooks would be for core subjects in English Language, Mathematics, Basic Science and Technology, and Social Studies; for primaries three, four, five and six. He added that the library resources materials would be distributed to all Junior Secondary Schools across the country.
“Now, the total number of books Council approved for purchase through UBEC is 16 million copies of textbooks in Mathematics, English language, Basic Science and Technology, Social Studies, while 1,010,100 library resource materials (were) being approved for JSS.”
According to him, 5.7 million textbooks for English Language, Mathematics, Basic Science and Technology would be for primary four; 5.2 million for primary five; 2.6 million for primary six and 3.2 million social studies textbooks for primary three. All the primary school books will cost N17 billion.
The minister stated that the distribution of the textbooks would not be based on equality of states, but rather on pupils enrolled in schools in the states... http://premiumtimesng.com/news/101647-weve-done-our-best-on-flooding-federal-government-declares.html |

Politics › JTF Uncovers Another Bomb Factory In Adamawa by PaulJohn1(op): 11:07pm On Sep 25, 2012 |
The Joint Task Force, JTF, Tuesday, said it uncovered and confiscated deposits of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), arms and ammunition, as well as other dangerous weapons from another bomb manufacturing hideout in Mubi, Adamawa State.
This latest discovery came barely 24 hours after the JTF raided another hideout were 156 persons, suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect, were apprehended on Sunday. The Commander of the 23rd Armoured Brigade, John Nwaoga, on Tuesday, told journalists that the raid tagged “Operation Restore Sanity” in Mubi, is part of the steps to enhance the military crackdown in the area which is seen as the operational base of the sect.
Mr. Nwaoga said the military operation in Mubi is aimed at flushing out notorious elements of the Boko Haram sect who have “launched attacks against innocent victims, hapless religious worshipers, and telecommunication infrastructure in the area.” Items recovered from the hideout include – 96 IEDs in Maltina cans, two drums of bombs, nine explosive refrigerator compressors, six weapon training manuals, 469 ammunitions, seven preaching manuals, seven Qurans, and one magazine.
Other items found after the raid are seven Qlink motorcycle batteries, one stabilizer, three SIM cards amongst others. Mr. Nwaoga said the JTF and other security outfit in the state are committed to ridding Mubi town of criminal elements.
In a similar vein, a commander in the JTF, Gibson Jalo, revealed that the men of the JTF through its Intelligence network are gradually closing in on one Bashir, a man suspected to be the arrowhead behind terrorist activities in Mubi. Curfew To assist the JTF in its operations, The Adamawa State Government has extended the dusk to dawn curfew imposed in Mubi to 24 hours.
In a statement, the Secretary to the State Government, Kobis Ari Thimnu, stated that the extension is to avail the JTF of the opportunity to carry out its operations in Mubi. He urged people of the area to assist security operatives with useful tips that will lead to the apprehension of miscreants in the area. http://premiumtimesng.com/news/101483-jtf-uncovers-another-bomb-factory-in-adamawa.html |

Celebrities › Alleged Smoking - Genevieve Nnaji Caught In The Act? by PaulJohn1(op): 8:10am On Sep 25, 2012 |
IF the rumour making the rounds is anything to believe, then, top actress, Genevieve Nnaji, has joined the league of female smokers in the Nigerian movie industry.Probably she'd succeeded at 'keeping it a secret' and had everyone 'fooled' that she's been a good girl, Genny as fondly called by her fans was allegedly caught smoking by a top Nollywood director and producer, Charles Novia. In an excerpt from his memoirs titled "Nollywood Till November", Charles shares his shocking experience when he unexpectedly bumped into the actress while she was busy puffing the smoke from her cigarette into the air.Excerpt from the Nollywood Till November below: "Our mutual professional respect for each other developed the more. I remember on the third day of recording, one night while shooting at a clinic in Victoria Garden City Extension, I came out for a bit of fresh air while the technical people were setting up for the next scene. Genevieve Nnaji Is A Smoker I saw Genevieve in a dark corner of the building, smoking a cigarette. 'Whoops! You caught me', she said, laughing. 'You smoke?' I asked, a bit surprised. 'Now and then. It relaxes me ' she said."With the gist already going viral, fans are indeed worried as to why their role model, Gene, would involve herself in such an act. All efforts to get her response to the gist proved abortive as she was unavailable as at press time. http://allafrica.com/stories/201209250082.html
