OP. But why is it's only you guys that complain about the mods. Last week I was banned aswell, till now I'm not sure of why I was banned. Get used to it. And about this thread you started https://www.nairaland.com/1041708/robbers-build-hotel-robbery-money. I followed the thread not long you started it, Before the second post or the first reply which was made by you, was hidden. You quoted the whole story and highlighted the names of the two guys who were involved in the crime. Damn, it was too childish of you. Are we the readers blind to pick out the names of those guys? it shows the extent at which you've been swallowed by tribalism. Although I don't see the reason why you should be banned for that, may be a warning from the "bias moderators" would have been justifiable. Or may be they've identified you to be a all time tribalist who need no warning. But let the truth be said, the mods might be sometimes biased ![]() |

This was disclosed by the Comptroller of the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Aminu Abdulkarim, on Friday in Minna. As the Democratic Party National Convention wound down Thursday night in the United States of America, the leadership of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), led by its national leader, Senator Bola Tinubu, are rounding up talks on how to strengthen the party in terms of building a stronger and more visible identity that will recast the opposition in a new light and with a focused agenda. The idea is to project and present the opposition as one with an alternative agenda and to press forward to explain this alternative agenda in contrast with that of the ruling party. Two former Democratic Party governors and a member of the executive alongside a senior aide to former President Bill Clinton will work with the ACN to sharpen its message and political appeal. "The first leg will be helping to enhance Nigeria's political culture by de-emphasising personalities and promoting ideas' said Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State. "The last few days have shown that a well organised democratic system will always serve the people better and make the country stronger," he said. "Nigeria still has a learning curve and we will get there but we must do the needful and partner with people, parties with whom we share similar ideas." Governor David Rosen said the Democratic Party has a lot to offer to parties in Africa and elsewhere who are looking for ideas and ideals that places people at the centre of politics. Speaking at the meeting, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Adeyemi Ikuforiji, said the ACN was looking forward to seeing a new era where politicians are well informed and properly cultured. On his part, Tinubu said Nigeria has great potential and brilliant minds that can lead the new political renaissance Nigerians crave for. "All we need to do is to invest our time in finding these talents and nurture them into maturity. This convention has demonstrated the superiority of ideas and principles and party identity over any other approach to real politic." http://allafrica.com/stories/201209070220.html |
President Goodluck Jonathan and Ghanaian president, John Dramani Mahama yesterday engaged themselves In a closed door meeting yesterday over what may have appeared to be a meeting bordering on security and the Nigeria's economy. Jonathan received the Ghanaian new president about some minutes past 5pm and after about 30minutes they moved to the residence where they also had dinner together. Speaking to State House correspondents immediately after the meeting, Mahama said he came to Nigeria to express his country's appreciation to President Jonathan and Nigeria for the solidarity during the death of former President John Attah Mills. He said, "This is just a friendly visit. Firstly to thank President Jonathan for taken time out to join us in Ghana for the funeral of late President John Attah Mills. We want to express our sincere appreciation for the solidarity he and the people of Nigeria showed us. "Secondly to discuss bilateral issues. As you know Nigeria and Ghana, we are very close, we are bond together by historical links, we are two people, one and the same. We experience the same colonialism, we have the same culture, we have the same food, and we have to continue to discuss how we can strengthen our bilateral cooperation. "And since I succeeded late president Attah Mills, even though myself and President Jonathan know ourselves very well, it was also important that I come to pay my respect and pay my respect to him. "We have discussed on the issue of security, to make sure that the West African sub-region is save and secured so that we can continue to pursue our integration and our economic cooperation." http://allafrica.com/stories/201209070335.html |

PDP better be mute on issues like this. Going through the previous record, PDP's former administration in the West put the region at the apex in debtors list. Especially, Ogun and Oyo. Lagos is capable of solving her debt issue anytime. And why shouldn't they? Not just visitors, but top officials and diplomats. The first lady is government property, not just GEJ's wife. If GEJ wants her to be personal, he should let her step down and no one'll be bothering him about her. |

I wish the first lady quick recovery. I'm most time disappointed at the way the presidency handle matters, don't know if it's his advisers on personal issues or his spokespersons that are questionable What's the point of barring "top Nigerian officials and diplomats from seeing her, not common citizen this time? And the paragraph before last said "the presidency might be compelled to release the true position of the first lady". So he doesn't see the need to do that before? funny presido |
TO quicken the recovery of the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, officials of Horst Schmidt Klinik, the German Hospital where she is receiving medication, yesterday, barred visitors and some top Nigerian officials, who went to see her from, doing so. An official of the hospital said that some top Nigerian officials, including diplomats were barred from seeing Mrs Jonathan to enable her have deserved rest to quicken her recovery. ![]() The official also confirmed that the President's wife had earlier been treated for food poisoning back home before being brought to Horst Schmidt Klinik early last week after the management of the hospital had been contacted and briefed on her deteriorating health condition. Confirming that the First Lady was getting better, the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, declared that the hospital management would ensure that she was fully fit before she would be allowed to go back to Nigeria. This is coming as Petroleum Resources Minister, Mrs. Dieziani Alison-Madueke, denied reports that she had been hospitalised in a London hospital with "a potentially serious" condition. Meanwhile, there were indications, yesterday, that the Presidency might be forced to admit the nature of illness afflicting Dame Jonathan. Findings indicated that the Presidency was under pressure to own up to the fact that the President's wife was sick and had been admitted for treatment in a German hospital. A competent source said that the Presidency might be compelled to release the 'true position' of Mrs. Jonathan's health condition to put the records straight and end the deluge of fabricated stories trailing her health condition and whereabouts. Presidency worried It was learnt that the Presidency was worried over the heat generated by the First Lady's sickness and the poor handling of the information. The late lawyer and human rights activist was honoured on Wednesday. President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday assured Nigerians that his administration would not compromise on respect for the rule of law and the promotion of social justice. He made the remark at the Third Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Lecture in Lagos. The lecture was organised by the Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Organisation (GAFAMORG), in honour of the late lawyer and human rights activist, who died on September 5, 2009 at the age of 71. Mr. Jonathan, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Civil Society and International Media, Ken Saro-Wiwa Jr, described Mr. Fawehinmi as a patriot who fought vigorously for democracy and the rule of law. “It is in that belief and struggle of Gani that this administration has tapped into, to pursue vigorously the signing of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act,” the president said. “Gani will be happy in heaven if this and every government after us respects the law.” Mr. Jonathan called for better collaboration between the government and civil society groups. He said constructive criticisms are vital to shaping government policies and enhancing the welfare of the people. While delivering a lecture, at the event, titled “Oil Subsidy Regime, Myth or Reality,” Prof. Tam David-West, a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, advised the government to stop the importation of petroleum products. “Until we stop the importation of fuel, this country will not be able to move forward,” the former minister said. A Lagos lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana, called for a thorough prosecution of all persons indicted in the fuel subsidy fraud. “All those who looted the treasury and paid monies to their friends, including the officials of CBN, NNPC and Ministry of Finance, all of them must be dealt with under the law,” Mr. Falana said. Earlier, the coordinator, GAFAMORG, Ayodele Akele, said the late legal icon deserves to be immortalised for his positive contributions to the nation. Mr. Akele, called for the renaming of the Abuja office of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) as “Gani Fawehinmi House.” http://premiumtimesng.com/news/99062-fg-learning-from-gani-president-jonathan-says.html
