Tuesday night was a bad one for me. I was feeling a bit feverish and was down with catarrh and cold. I knew I was gonna have a rough night. I laid down to get some rest and minutes later, I heard my message tone from my phone.
I checked, lo and Behold 3 new Messages From GT Bank. Whaaaaaaa
Who fit send me money by this time?
but wait oo, 3 alerts at once is not a good sign cos most of us doing internet banking can relate.
Lo and behold, i was right. 3 DEBIT ALERTS

1. N1000- Mastercard Issuance
2. N50- VAT
3. N128 - GeNS bla bla bla...

But wait ooo, I don't have a MasterCard naa.. how come?? are these ones okay faa

Then I remembered one incident two years Ago.
December 2014: I just got back from NYSC camp and i went to open a GTB account at Magodo.
the stress that bank made me go through during that period was EPIC. I remembered staying at their office from 9am to 6pm because I needed my account to be open. Then I applied for a master card and told them to send it to my local branch.
Some weeks later, I went to the local branch to request for my Mastercard and also use the opportunity to withdraw my allowee. I was told that my Card wasn't at the branch yet. I was stranded. I called the official that attended to me at The Opening Branch GTB magodo and she said she wasn't sure whether my card has been produced.

Oh Boy!!! That means i can't apply for a new one or report a stolen card. I was caught in the middle with no options left.
I finally opted for a token which was more expensive than the MasterCard. I have been using my token to transfer my money to my UBA account. I was at peace.

UNTIL almost 2 years Later, I'm seeing a strange alert for a MASTERCARD that I did not see or get to use.
I have complained using all their social media channels and nothing has been done. in fact, a customer care agent i was chatting with told me that the card was prepared on October 2015 ( ONE YEAR after i applied). He said " a card if not activated within one year of production becomes invalid" and "I will be unable to use the card even if i pick it up eventually".

Lessons Learned
1) GT bank Magodo will take a year to produce my MasterCard
2) The bank will never notify me when my card is ready but will be quick to debit me when it expires without my knowledge
3) The bank can dip their hands into my account whenever they feel like and remove my money. so much for the TRUST in the Guarantee TRUST bank.

Although I commend GT bank for their prompt response online, these acts of negligence need to stop and they should put in more efforts to serve their customers well.

It is indeed a day to remember for VSO- NYSC CDS Ikorodu Lagos Nigeria, as their sacrifice and massive impact through its numerous projects and service to humanity has attracted the NYSC Entire leadership, as the Lagos state Coordinator was present to inspect and acknowledge its numerous mind blowing projects.

VSO is an acronym for Voluntary Service Overseas. They are young volunteers who are obligated to inspire change and clean the tears of many, through its numerous projects.

1) Back to school: Through the collaboration of its wide network Y-AID was able to send 41 less privileged children back to school.

2) Neighborhood spaces: Here, they meet with different categories of people in the community, impacting them with numerous skills and organism awareness and sensitization campaigns on different fields like child protection, drug abuse, HIV/AIDS with the aim of meeting the Sustainable Development Goals.

Mr Cyril Lagos state NYSC Coordinator was welcomed by the VSO-NYSC young energetic visionary president Ebenezer Oyichi, along side the VSO NYSC liaison officer Mrs Osho, zonal inspector, with the Ikorodu local government inspector LGI.

Ebenezer, while addressing his fellow corp members was saying that life is all about impact, and passion should be our watch word and driving force in life. He also appreciated the partners Y - AID, CCSV, RVs, and voice movement Africa for its partnership and collaboration

The state Coordinator also appreciated the VSO NYSC CDS group to keep up with the good work.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has introduced a biometric clearance of corps members to check absenteeism and truancy among serving members.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brig-Gen Sule Kazaure, who disclosed this at a training workshop for staff of the corps, said since 2014 the scheme adopted ICT-based system for mobilization, deployment and registration of corps members which has improved service delivery.

He said, “The monthly clearance as being introduced newly was found to be an effective way of addressing impersonation in clearance by proxy. We have successfully tried it in Lagos and FCT, as such we are about to deploy it nationwide.”
