He left his family in Nassarawa, married another woman, 2nd wife infected him, he visits first wife & infects her, goes back & kills d wife who infected him, he will likely spend a lifetime in prison, the first wife is likely infected. What a circle! |
So with about N750K, l can own a harvester, thresher & a winnower, offering harvest services across rice growing areas of lgbariam, Oba ofemili, Omor, Achalla, Omasi etc No farmer can complain of harvesting, threshing & winnowing a chain for N900! |
securi: Meaning my planned 30 hectares is just a child's play.Hope the market can still accomodate ppl like us.lt is no child's play as there is room for everyone. |
@Buchika, so u see how neatly & efficient it cuts, with such machine one can achieve much wit lower labour cost. such machine cannot consume more than N1000 of petrol daily when u can imagine how much labourers charge to harvest per chain and food! |
jethro2: @ Pavore. What type of vegetables can it be use to preserve? How is it constructedit preserves mango, pepper, cabbage, tomatoes, okra, ewedu, cucumber etc l wil need to upload video of its construction when l get it. |
l feel the difference more with bitterleaf soup, |
egopersonified: Op, I hope u are not the boy i'm visualizing in my head sitting on the floor with a pot and the last portion of the soup his mother made days before. Better desist becos your wife would not take that from you.lol! |
@Buchika, these are the images of the rice harvester l told you about though the pictures are from the manufacturers website but it is the same with the one l saw being used in a rice farm here in Kenya. So with this no abakaliki wahala of opening a restaurant all in the name of cooking for workers! ![]() you can view its specifications on http://mcmachine.diytrade.com/sdp/1494090/4/pd-6086634/12039244-0/4G-100_type_Rice_and_wheat_harvester_machine.html

Yes, processing add value to farm produce, generating wealth for the farmer and the processor. Read the inspiring story of a young man who ventured into processing bananas into flour. More on www.koboideas..com |
images of the the deep freezer shaped preservation syatem I talked about in an earlier post.
|
jethro2: Our group have fresh tomatoes, ata rodo, tatase, ugu and other vegetables. We need distributors in Lagos and its environmentDo approach fast food outlets to see if there are openings for such supplies. |
mfm04622: Why wait for somebody to do it? It is a good idea. Why not set it up yourself? So much on my plate and am not an IT person though my own little contribution in the future will be on radio production on agri-projects. |
lt does not require electricity bt requires only pouring water into d PVC pipes.lt preserves fruits & vegetables for up to 2weeks, very ideal for folks in d rural areas as they can afford to hold on to their harvest if middlemen are being too greedy! |
lnternet is a good source for ideas on post harvest management. l hope by the end of this month l will fulfil d promise to post how to build a local deep freezer shaped preservation system for fruits & vegetables with just wood, zinc, pvc pipes. |
l wish someone can set up a site where farmers put up their harvest for sale, so hotels/restaurants, catering firms etc can access directly cutting off middlemen. l am taking it from a model in kenya called M-Shamba which is also running on an app. |
May the Lord be Praised! No matter how gloomy it maybe, His Glory will shine forth! |
So touching. |
seunlayi: Wait, am I still in Nigeria?Of course not! look around you and testify you are finally in your dream country......Somalia! |
And someone will still ask why do women outllive men....well this is one of the reasons, with organs soaked in alcohol! A drunk will still go home, demand respect from his wife & children while reeking of alcohol. A drunk for a father is a calamity! |
Even if l do not know the nutritional value, the bone no dey escape me as na the place whey the ingredients used in cooking it dey gather! |
Were they smoking and high on weed when was he escaping? Too late to cry over spilled milk! |
Buchika: the locals usually measure chain by squaring 66 ft that's 66*66, but what I normally get at end of the day is 25 chains per hectareThe 12hectares will be the daily harvesting range with just 4 workers on the field! |
Apitch: That's a long timeYou really need to physically be on the rice field to observe and learn it. Follow a rice farmer around u to his farm. |
Apitch: I'm enjoying thisl left Anambra state 2009! |
Buchika: 300 chains is roughly 12 hectares, that's very good, but is it possiblehow many square feet makes a chain? Though l thought it is 66sq ft going by d stick they use locally which is 6ft. A hectare should be 107639sq.ft |
lf l was still around l would go into rice harvest services. For 300 chains of rice pay me N200K & l will harvest, thresh, winnow and have ur clean paddy rice bagged in sacks, ur own is to come to the farm in 4 days time wit a pickup to carry d rice! |
Buchika: in which type of land upland or swamp, we usually plant rice in a swamp here. can such simple harvester be deployed here, can you get the picture please.lt serves both upland and lowland, l will look for the picture. |
At a rice farm settlement here in kenya l saw a simple harvester that looks almost like a lawn mower. lt harvests about 320 chains of rice daily, while the machine operator harvests another farmhand is behind packing d stalks into a wheelbarrow. |
no longer involved in it as l live in kenya bt it is very profitable if u can cut off manual labour as much as possible by using simplified planter, harvester & thresher. All these will cut labour cost which is the major expenditure in rice farming. |
One has to go thru lgbariam to enter Achalla & drive through Oye Achalla where u have the rice mills. Most of those workers from ebonyi are more interested in d food than d work! The thresher was threshing out abt 4.5 tonnes of paddy rice in 9hrs. |
lt is so frustrating! l recall when we were paying huge wagebill on those farm hands to thresh rice at achalla, paying & feeding 15 people daily for a job not even well done till we got d thresher only 3 workers was used, 4litres of fuel used daily! |
@Buchika, do check on National root crop research institute Umudike, they have a fabrication that will help with d peeling. there is a guy in Awka who could provide same solution bt lost his contact. He produced a very efficient rice thresher 4 me. |
