A job well done. I agree with most of your submissions. However, i would not place Simon Kolawole as number One. I think his closeness to Segun Adeniyi has an effect on some of his write ups. I hold the same opinion of him but i think he gets too carried away and whips up unnecessary sentiments sometimes (i.e ThisDay on Sunday 13-09-2009 "Do Yorubas hate Arik?" , just like Abati. They are both intelligent and have sound knowledge of countemporary issues but they tend to pontificate more often than necessary. I am a fan of ThisDay because of Simon anyway.Luke Onyekayekah always sounds too technical. He writes mostly on UN MGDPs i.e affordable water, global warming etc. Edwin Madunagu is quintessential, a friend of none and higly independent minded but glorifies the ruthless Leninists at times. He possesses an unrivalled dialetical ability, and not given to trivialities. Another Guardian writer, Banji Adisa should have made your list. He is also interesting. Azu Punch is still powerful but i think his designation takes most of his time now. Casmir too is very good, doesn't mince words. Joseph Adeyeye is budding and very interesting. He doesn't assume too much. Yomi Odunuga was just writing Abuja notes then i think. The Duro Onabules, Dimgba Igwe, Mike Awoyinfa, Femi Adeshina are sometimes limited by their employers, i suppose. Dele Momodu with all due respect because as an Undergraduate then at Ife, he was our role model. But now, i think what he does most times is to write about the countries he has visited, the cuisines he had been priviledged to consume etc. I also think his Ovation Magazine helps promote the get-rich quick syndrome, a precursor to corruption , drug trafficking, money laundering etc. in Nigeria. Ijeoma This Day is very didatic, well groomed and comfortable with figures. She would not do bad as another Okonjo Iweala. Mohammed Haruna is truly intelligent but with the likes of Jega, you would think Daily Trust was founded just to antagonize OBJ just like Tinubu's The Nation can't be taken too serious, some of the writers are sectional and lopsided in their thinking. I know Prof. GbadegesinThe Nation, he is my namesake, a former lecturer at OAU. His junior brother was my lecturer too. He's an Harvard Professor of African Studies. But you can't help noticing the Afenifere agenda and anti-PDP sentiments in his write-ups. I have tried, what would you say about me? |
Someone, somewhere must have been quoted out of context. |
When Naija pastors preach giving, it means to them not the people. Donations in Naija churches are only one way traffic except in some cases because i know a few churches that still give. |
Na me, na me. Oga Seun abeg remember me in ur kingdom. On a more serious note i think Dayo Kanu should be a moderator on Nairaland. |
@ Poster What's the point? Are you trying to ridicule a dead man? At least he was honest enough to have written that in his autobiography. Some other Nigerians would have written that they were working in Buckingham Palace as the Queen's PA or something rathr magnifying. This post is rather unnecessary. |
@ Joyner I've sent the CV. Hope it's real because there are so many scam posts these days. |
@Ilohim I hope the likes of Ibime would respond to this. Sanusi said it cost N100 billion to print the money. If true what economic sense does that make and why is that s different from the EDW they have been drawing from? Printing N400 billion with N100 billion already means 25% cost has been accrued. Who would be responsible for that and how much percenntage interest would the CBN charge because he has said it is a loan to the banks? He has started talking from both sides of his mouth. |
Pity, i've been busy to put in few words. Gani, the indefatigable and erudite legal luminary. A friend of the masses. Your death has created a vacuum in the moral conscience of our dear nation. he toiled day and night with the belief that this country would be great one day given the right atmosphere. Adieu |
@Ibime I will admonish you to stop your pontifications. Nothing gives you absolute authority over any issue. If your ilks are on Sanusi's payroll, then be bold enough to admit it so that we can know what else to address. @Poster I have my reservations on Fasheun's comments. I've always known him as someone who gets carried away by certain persuasions. However, interventions like his are sure relief at this time. Why? it is because people are afraid lest Almighty Sanusi decides to "Whip" them by publishing their names on the pages of newspapers as debtors as if it's a sin to borrow from banks, wrongly classify their performing loans as bad and even quoting over-bloated figures against their names. There can be no predicting Sanusi's dictatorial tendencies and errors of judgment. Only time will tell. |
this should go to music or joke section. |
Hi all, I've found this thread both exciting and stimulating. I've wanted to do something on ERP and have wanted to know more about SAP for more than two years. I have an MBA Marketing background and decided to check the modules for Sales and Distribution especially but they are not available for Nigeria. Does anyone know how else to do the search? I am also interested in knowing the full cost leading to certification and learning centres in Nigeria, though i don't mind e-learning. Thanks |
Hello guys, KPMG Resourcing brought out a recruitment advert two months ago for an Oil and Gas company and nothing has been heard of it ever since. Does anyone in the house have any info? Thanks a bunch. |
Naija Police. Picture of the year indeed |
That was too much. |
He has said it before and he's saying it again. The idiot should be told that he's holding a sensitive post. I'm not just comfortable with that appellation. When Soludo was talking of re-denomination, the aboki Bureau the Change operators ganged up and the idea was dropped as being untimely. Soludo also removed the arabic inscriptions on our naira notes as if the whole country is Islamic Republic of Nigeria, the stupid fools cried that arabic was the only language their boko haram masses could understand. It's a shame that this Sanusi is imposing his ultra-conservative hausa- fulani hegemony on us. |
Giving loans without collateral is unlawful. there are things called "conditions precedent to drawdown". They are required to validate a loan request. If these conditions are not met, their would be objections by inspectors and auditors if found that a loan is actually granted without fulfilling all the requirements. Now, Sanusi has sacked and EFCC has been apprehending Bank Directors and Debtors for some of these reasons. As an ED, Risk Mgt for that matter, when the loan given to Olojede was disbursed without collateral then he should get down from his high moral horse and face the music too. He was too rash to realize that he is not so clean. |
ofokasibe:I'm with you on this. Hosannah today, crucify him tomorrow, the true Naija spirit. Yesterday, they were with us, we celebrated them. They were benefactors, mentors, opinion makers and today, they are being villified. It's surprising that i'm taking this position inspite that i've never worked in a bank. |
Moin moin-baked beans (with crayfish, liver, sliced egg etc) and Ogi (pap) ![]() |
Glad that the Yak is back. The injury was a terrible blow to is career. Either performs better for club than country doesn't matter because each time he plays, he's called the Nigerian international Striker. He deserves support |
cheap publicity stunt |
fyneguy:Interesting, so EFCC has been so quick to establish cases against non-EDs. I say crap. Then i recommend an olympic medal for this. ![]() |
Your fanciful AGF and minister of Justice has never been known to be on the right side of history. |
otokx:No sir. There were errors in the figures as well. Are you saying someone who committed errors in the names could not make the same errors in figures as well? Your premise is faulty as well. So is it only about Ali Dangote? Femi Otedola, Jimoh Ibrahim and even Arumemi-johnson have all faulted the whole stuff. |
Sanusi is over reaching himself. He is obviously confused now. |
Pray what the investigation is meant to achieve. -To ask if indeed her bank granted the loans? -If she complied with all laid down rules and procedures before the loans were administered? -If the loans have indeed gone bad? -Why she was on the run before surrendering now? I thought CBN had already said all these and prosecuted her by the removal. Methinks that the EFCC is just playing to the gallery. Yes, after all those bashing by the US sec of state- Hilary Clinton during her recent visit. Thank God, EFCC is finally alive. crap |
I'm yet to be convinced that Achebe is as good as WS. he is a pathetic wimp |
We should credit the source for published works. someone quoted 'i think, therefore i am' by Rene Descarte. |
@ Poster: 'I seek the truth! But preferred the lie For the promise of fantasy Of love, and Happy ending Is sweeter Than The common truth ' paradoxical isn't it. So you are saying the 'happy ending' is not realisitc? Nice stuff though |
She is an extra ordinary Nigerian! VIP like other elites. That is why they create mess and abscond leaving us Nairalanders to yab and abuse ourselves. |
