Martin Luther (a German Catholic Priest) started his reformation because he found it difficult to accept the followings:

1. That people were being severely taxed to build the St Peter's Basilica- (your Covenant University, Redeemed University etc, )
2. The infallibility of the Pope -(your daddies can never be wrong)
3. Payment for penance -(the more you give, the more blessings you receive)
4. When you confess your sins to the priest, they are forgiven- (my pastor said, )

Martin Luther dealt the symbolic blow that began the Reformation when he nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Church. That document contained an attack on papal abuses and the sale of indulgences by church officials.
But Luther himself saw the Reformation as something far more important than a revolt against ecclesiastical abuses. He believed it was a fight for the gospel. Luther even stated that he would have happily yielded every point of dispute to the Pope, if only the Pope had affirmed the gospel.
And at the heart of the gospel, in Luther's estimation, was the doctrine of justification by faith—the teaching that Christ's own righteousness is imputed to those who believe, and on that ground alone, they are accepted by God.
That doctrine, often called the Material Principle of the Reformation, is what the apostle Paul taught as well: "To him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness" (Rom. 4:5).

These were some of the reasons why he issued his rejection of some doctrines of the then Catholic Church. He was charged with heresy and asked to recant which he rejected. He was then excommunicated.
Christendom became better for it as people were able to get copies of the bible through the printers in Gutenberg, Germany. That is why every one of us can read the Holy Bible today before then only the priests had access to the Bible.

If it can be established that Omisore has not got a Masters Degree by the Institution, then he should step down from running as a Senator. To be a Senator, having a Master’s degree is not a pre-requisite. If I am not mistaken a school cert degree is the minimum qualification required.

So for the Senator to over-kill by overstating his qualification is an unnecessary intent at shoring up his already dented personality, a first or Bachelor’s degree will do fine and I hope he has that.

However, do the Igbos truly see Yorubas as allies? I must tell you the Yorubas are not stereotyped as most of you think here on Nairaland but we appreciate honesty and sincerity of purpose. Yes, we support equity and justice in all ramifications and i think Igbos are fairly dependable. I have many Igbo friends and i appreciate them. I have always wondered why the Igbos cannot rally round an Emeka Anyaoku for instance as a leader. I mean when charlatans like Orji Kalu wants to be seen as championing Igbo struggle, it leaves much to be desired. I want to see an Igbo president after Yar Adua. Maybe, then this shout of Biafra will subside.

It is easy if the country is serious:

1. Government should provide jobs to the jobless, just as it is finally doing in the Niger Delta region

2. Let the authorities be serious about identifying who is and who is not a Nigeria. This current National ID Card is a charade; we need a serious security code and human identification and forensic database (very easy, if the government is honest.

3. Introduce a Cashless society: make a law that a certain amount should not be carried cash. Platic moneies & cards should be encouraged as alternatives. It is most painful that a few months ago, the CBN (of all people) instructed all the banks in Nigeria to dismantle their ATMs mounted outside their bank premises. Whatever reason behind it!!!! It is seen to be anti-crime fighting.

4. Sincere efforts should be made in the area of security: mount CCTVs and other security and surveillance equipment in strategic areas.

5. (4) above means that there must be a steady supply of electricity. Luckily, there are UPS, Inverters and Solar energy

6. The Nigeria Police, EFCC and relevant authorities must be sincere in the resolve to stamp out crime and corruption.

5. Nigerians should be made to be responsible enough to report such people and cases. People know these criminals; they are our brothers, sisters, relatives, friends and neighbours in one way or the other. And the citizens should also be protected when they BLOW THE WHISTLE

6. Every cyber cafe MUST have a CCTV to show who come in and goes out any system. You know this shows date, day and time up to seconds. And can be played back when it is discovered that a fruadulent mail went out from a particular system. For those with personal internet sevice in their PCs/mobile phones, very easy. KYC process should be intensified from the end of the SERVICE PROVIDER. (KYC means: KNOW YOUR CUSTOMER: a regulatory injunctions for banks and highly sensitive areas to ensure that customers are known very well before transactions are resumed with them).

7. Proper legislation and legal framework: There should be death penalty for such actvities. That is why I like China, and some other Asian nations. You can not sabotage their system and live. They kill you. And that is why their economy continues to grow. Evidence Act must also be in place to nail culprits with text messages and other technological discoveries (This is not yet finalised in Nigeria)

8. Phone number LOCATION IDENTICATION EQUIPMENT: This ensures that criminals are smoked out wheresoever they are calling ffrom. This is world technology today.

There could be more other ways. To say it is not possible is where the problem lies. "IMPOSSIBILITY IS IN THE MIND OF THE WEAK."

Who is Godwin Dabo to be taken serious? He is just a foolish man that speaks whenever his bread is being buttered. I know several reputable pple of Benue extraction. Dabo doesn't come close to anything, his other name is FRAUD.

Now we seem to be missing it again. Bankole might be a toddler, but he has a responsibility as the Speaker of the federation to say some things.
Truly, Prof Achebe has never kept mute on the Anambra issue and that pitted him against former president OBJ.
As for Soyinka not doing anything in Ogun, i'm sure we all know him better than that, he would not spare them when he thinks they are becoming a nuisance.
I've not been to Anambra in recent times, and most of our comments are based on newspapers' reports and what we see on TV, so if it's being blown out of proportion then don't blame us, blame the media.

However, i can certainly say that all is not well with Anambra, and it doesn't seem to be limited to PDP. It cuts across all the parties PPA, APGA and what have you. I see unbridled egoism and opportunistic tendencies in all the political leaders. It's as if the cultural values espoused by the Achebes and the Anyaokus are no longer in existence. Wisdom seems to have taken flight in Anambra.
I therefore submit, that it is order that they speak some sense into them. Let the various communities regard them as outcasts and let's see what FG can do about that.

A good number of our journalists are media consultants to politicians. Ogundeji was working for Femi Pedro then during the 2007 guber polls. Have you ever wondered how politicians manage to disparage themselves on Newspapers during election periods? They employ the services of these journalists. So in most cases, these journalists get caught in the intricate web of Nigerian politics and end up paying with their lives.

Thank God i was not the only one noticing this. Well, another big ups to the internet. I decided to check the sites of Nigerian newspapers and found out that they were all dry in contents and forms. I simply sighed and thought of how frustrated i would have been if i had bought one.

I watched the public hearing by the State's house of assembly on LTV a few weeks back on the LASU crisis. As an indigene of the state, i am compelled to comment that the state govt should as a matter of urgency remove the VC. This is no time to play party politics with such an important issue. From the presentations of students to the various labour organisations in the university, it was obvious that there was no love lost between the VC and the other unions.
They were all unanimous in their submissions that the VC should go.
A similar thing happened in OAU during Prof. Omole's tenure, we students were fed up with his draconian rule and were clamouring for his removal but the FG would not budge. It took the killing of 9 students by cultists claimed to have been sponsored by the VC before the FG could act.

Gov. Fashola, a stitch in time saves nine (no pun intended). I am sure that the likes of Babapupa and Olafolarin are reading this.
