Anyway, if you have borrowed from a Naija bank, just sit your ass there because by now i'm sure you won't be able to pay back in ten years given the accrued interests. The fear of EFCC is the beginning of wisdom.

I really dig your post and it really shows that you truly care. Most of your observations are very true especially about the marketers. however, i have friends in the banking sector and i can tell you that most of them are not informed. They are usually boring and can't keep up with any conversation that is not banking related. Their usual excuse is "na deposit?"

As for customer relations in banks, First Bank, UBA and some GTB staff (mostly the OND guys) are simply dumb. I had an encounter some weeks ago with the guy in the Western Union section at Mushin Branch of First Bank. I had gone there to collect just $200 sent to me by my elder brother. After checking through the system, the dude told me he would not pay me since the sender wrote Bayo instead of Adebayo (not real name). I gave him my Driver's Licence and the National ID but he wouldn't budge. I felt frustrated and was about calling my big bros in the States when a friend told me that it could be a ploy to defraud me. The friend explained that having accessed the info, what most of them do is to forward it to their cronies who would not have any difficulty getting a fake ID and then collect my money.

I quickly ran to a branch of Oceanic in Gbagada where i was attended to by a very courteous lady. She had a friendly disposition all through and i had to resist the urge of asking her out. I got my money and was out of the bank within ten minutes. Now, that was one wonderful experience worth sharing.

I am not trivializing the issue but you might not know the various efforts of Lagos State Govt to rid the streets of these people. It has become a menace. Some of them who are able bodied can't fancy being employed and productive in whatever capacity. So why dissipate so much energy on this issue?
The other time i read about KAI-Kick Against Indiscpline officers manhandling street traders and taking them to Kirikiri , i felt it was appalling but the state govt stood its ground. A certain commisioner pointed that street trading has been banned and remains an offence punishable by law. That is for people who are even involved in certain economic activities.
Knowing Fashola, i doubt if he would have done it without prior warning. You can confirm that much from those resident in Lagos

What I read here is a man making jest of the current administration and suggesting that it is so ineffective that the Wife of the President is the DEFACTO President.

Hence the ineffective President should do himself some honour and not stand again, in fact it will be more honourable to have his wife who is already running the Presidency BTW stand on his behalf.

I don't think Turai can or will be President, I doubt Dabo honestly holds this view.

Me thinks the man is just being sarcarstic in a diplomatic way. This statement once again only emphasizes the weakness of the President.

Then i guess you want to see them languishing in jail for violating the rule abi? So state would also have to provide the cost of free legal services because i can bet even you would not be willing to bear a fraction of that cost.

Let's face it, if the North has been so intolerant of other people's culture and religion, why then should Lagos be the dumping ground of their scums?
Is it because we are tolerant? As an indigene of this state, i say that they stretch our amenities while not adding any value to this very society. Eko o ni baje?

Detailed information has been made available on his death, yes it had to do with a woman (his former girlfriend) who was given spiked viagra by a general who didn't know of the plot to kill him and not the Indian women story that the media fed Nigerians.

There was never any talk about Abacha dying of any sickness and that is my point in raising the question on this thread.

I don't know how old some folks were at that time. I wasn't much old then but i was always reading TELL then.
There was an OAU conference in 1997 and they had this picture of Sani Abacha there as pale as death. Then the news broke out that he had liver cirrhosis

I guess Abacha had the same disease Yar Adua is being diagnosed with now. They have the same symptoms- peeling skin. Abeg i no be doctor o.
The circumstances were different in Abacha's time. He couldn't travel much due to sanctions.
Though i like some of the things Fashola has done, but i doubt if he would really go to that LASUTH if diagnosed with Yar Adua's ailment. Remember what happened to Akpan Isemin in a Federal Teaching Hospital in Uyo.

Quite prophetic. I've had hunches too. I wrote it on Nairaland when this present issue broke out. Albeit i maintain my stance that they were foolish enough to play into his hands.
Some of those CEOs were beginning to run the banks like private enterprises. They've forgotten that they've gone PLC. They are just employees with shareholding capacities and no more owners.
So right now, Sanusi has all the aces.

No hypocrisy, what Fashola has been doing in Lagos cuts across every tribe. The Yoruba/ Igbo traders, landlords etc have paid one sacrifice or the other. We all can see what the guy is doing.

4) Misbehave on your way to the interview. You never know who will see you. At out last interviews, we ended up with 3 good people short-listed and would give the job to one of them. The best person was then discounted because I'd seen him spitting in a really disgusting way on the pavement outside our offices.
